🇲🇽 MAJESTIC MAPIMÍ, Durango | MEXICO'S Ultimate MAGICAL Town | CERRO de la India | Mexico Travel
🇲🇽 MAPIMÍ, DURANGO - It’s time to revisit the GOD MODE state of Durango, Mexico for Part 28 of my 2022 Mexico Travel Series, this time coming to you from the MAJESTIC Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Mapimí!
I stayed in Durango for around 6 weeks in 2021, during which time I visited Puente de Ojuela which is actually closer to the cities of Gómez Palacio and Torreón (the latter in the state of Coahuila). Unfortunately, I was sick at the time and didn’t have the opportunity to visit Mapimí… a difficult to reach location in Northern Mexico. It was always my plan to have the Mapimí video as the final NORMEX video of 2022 before heading back to Mexico City!
As well as eating Gorditas de Discada (one of the awesome examples of Mexican food or Comida Mexicana in Durango, visiting the local church and exploring around town, we also head to Cerro de la India (India Hill - or high hill/stone/mountain in an indigenous language) and visit an abandoned church! In the area, you can also visit Zona del Silencio, Grutas del Rosario and other sights. The area very much reminded me of Nombre de Dios or Real de Catorce!
If you’re thinking of becoming expats in Mexico or moving to Mexico, you don’t have to move to San Miguel de Allende or Guanajuato or listen to the outdated ‘is Mexico safe’ rhetoric. Somewhere like Torreón or Durango may not be traditionally ‘pretty’, but it still has a tremendous amount to offer!

Mexico's BEST Ice-Cream? | LUSCIOUS LERDO, Durango | Comarca LAGUNERA'S Final Hurrah | Mexico Travel
LERDO, DURANGO, MEXICO - Hi everyone! This video is Part 17 (madness!) of my 2021 Mexico Travel series, and the final-part of a four-part series in and around Comarca Lagunera in area around Torreón, Coahuila and its sister city, Gómez Palacio, Durango. In this video we are visiting the luscious Lerdo, full of trees, colourful buildings, parks, and much more.
One of the reasons to visit Lerdo is Neveria Chepo, in other words (arguably), Mexico's best ice-cream? Chepo originates in Lerdo and can be found elsewhere in Torreón and Gómez Palacio. You can also visit the Museo Francisco Sarabia, which details the history of one of Mexico's aviation pioneers, holder of many speed records from the 1930s. We also have some awesome comida mexicana (mexican food) which was recommended to me - Tortillones! A totally bonkers gordita type dish well-known in the area!
Next up, we're back in Iztapalapa for the final Mexico Travel video of 2021. This is Comarca Lagunera's AND Northern Mexico's FINAL hurrah!

If you're thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren't limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. You might even be looking for off the beaten track Mexico. You might ask the questions, Is Mexico Safe? or, Is Mexico dangerous. Durango is a state that, granted, you'll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

PUENTE de OJUELA, Mapimí, DURANGO in 4K! | MEXICO'S GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE? | Mexico Travel 2021 🇲🇽
PUENTE de OJUELA, MAPIMÍ, DURANGO - Welcome to another The Tao of David Mexico video! Are you ready for Mexico's ultimate adventure? In this Mexico travel 2021 video we leave Torreón from the previous video and head to Puente de Ojuela near the Pueblo Mágico or Mapimí, high in the mountains and the location of a ghost town (Pueblo Fantasma) and mine dating back the 1500s. It can be reached from Gomez Palacio, Durango or Torreón, Coahuila, however there are no buses. How I got there -
- Taxi from Soriana (supermercado) in Gomez Palacio (80mxn if full, 320 if solo) approx 40 mins
- Truck from entrance (350mxn one way)
- Hitched a ride back
- Arranged for driver to pick me up at a specified time to return to Gomez Palacio
The bridge at the old mining town of Ojuela is one of the many ghost towns in Mexico is one of the gems of Travel Durango. It was built to allow access to the mine where various minerals were extracted. It was designed by the Roebling brothers, who also designed the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It's also said that this wooden suspension bridge provided inspiration for The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco! Is this Mexico's Golden Gate Bridge?
If you're thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren't limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. Durango/Coahuila are states that, granted, you'll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

Mexico City–Phoenix TIME-LAPSE roadtrip
This video is the result of a of a 4-day roadtrip time-lapse recording, from Mexico City to Phoenix. It was originally shot for personal entertainment and experimenting, but after watching it, I realized it was good enough to be shared to YouTube, and there were no other videos like this one (maybe there are other roadtrips, but not including as much detail as this one, besides the different styles). These 39 minutes are a mix of more than 125 different time-lapses shot across more than 2,500 km (more than 1,500 miles). The time format was set on the upper right corner as [hours.minutes], and the current road on the lower left corner, with a subtitle for the current STATE/city.

I know there are many details I should address:
This wasn't meant to be professional at all (it just was nice enough for me to share with you).
The production was improvised (though shot on iPhone 12 mini, the mount wasn't calibrated at all).
The recording speeds are different in all the clips (I wasn't able to adjust the speed to a fixed pace, it was automated by iOS).
Some parts of the journey are skipped (detours were necessary at some points because of closed roads, gas station/meal/restroom/break stops).
The video isn't clear and high quality at times (the max res is 1080p, and most of the time the windshield naturally got dirty).
There's no color correction at all (it is as natural as it was seen in person).
There's no music (couldn't find anything good enough for the 39 minutes; besides, it's more relaxing and you can play anything on top of it).
zACATECAS misspelled, instead of ZACATECAS (00:09:54).
(If you find something else, kindly let me know; I'll appreciate it and it will help me improve for the next video).
More about me and this Channel:
DanLand will be a little bit of everything (guitar covers, travel/events, experiences lived through an iPhone camera, Mario gameplays [soon], experiments, and more to come soon).
I also manage another Channel: @PaulsMusicChannel , where I extend looped Beatles songs to 1 hour.

Cristo de las Noas, at 21.80 m (71.5 ft), is the third tallest statue of Christ in Latin America, only smaller than the statue of Christ The Redeemer in Brazil and Cristo de la Concordia in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Situated on the top of a hill, this image of Jesus with extended arms symbolises protection for the inhabitants of Torreon.[9] The hilltop has a Catholic church and offers a view of the entire city.
There are also several shopping centers in the city, including Galerias Laguna, Plaza Cuatro Caminos, and Intermall.
El Canal de la Perla.
The Canal de la Perla (the Pearl Watercourse), an underground watercourse built in the 19th century to drive the Nazas' river water to the fields near the city, was re-discovered in 2003 and re-opened in 2014. It now passes under the oldest part of the city and it can be visited and walked through. It is also used for cultural and artistic exhibitions.
In 2006, the Museo Arocena (Arocena Museum) that holds art collections from the pre-Hispanic times to the present, was opened; it also has a section dedicated to Mexico's and Torreón's history. There are also temporal expositions, conferences, book fairs, movies, and activities for children.
Economy
The area was originally a center for ranching. With irrigation the city became an important center for support for farming and processing of cotton. In the middle of the 20th century, it became an industrial city. The city has industries in textiles, clothing and metals processing. Some important industries and companies that have business here, like Peñoles, an important Mexican mining group, and Motores John Deere, Lala, an important dairy products company, Yura Corporation, stores like Soriana, Cimaco, Extra, among others.
Education

Camino al Puente de Ojuela
Musica: Purple Planet
