Qarshi (Naxshab, Navtaka, Nasaf, Behbudiy — 1926—1937-yillarda) — Oʻzbekiston Respublikasining Qashqadaryo viloyatidagi shahar (1926-yildan), viloyat markazi (1943-yildan).
Qashqadaryo vohasining markazida, Qashqadaryo boʻyida, xalqaro temir yoʻl va avtomobil yoʻllari kesishgan joyda. Maydoni 7,5 ming gektar. Aholisi 275 ming kishi (2021). Qarshi Oʻzbekistonning qadimiy shaharlaridan biri. U turli davrlarda Bolo, Nashebolo, Naxshap, Nasaf, nomlari bilan yuritilib, XIV asrdan Qarshi deb atala boshlagan.
Qarshi shahrining oʻzbek tarixida oʻziga xos oʻrni bor. Birinchidan, Qarshi — Movarounnahrdagi birinchi yirik turkiy tilli shahar. U payti Xorazmda (Urganch), Fargʻonada (Andijon), Shosh vohasida (Toshkent), Sirdaryo boʻylarida bir qancha yirik shaharlarda turkiy til hukmron edi, lekin Movarounnahrda bunday shahar yoʻq edi. Qarshining qurilishi bilan bu yerda turli-tuman aholi joylashdi, ammo turkiy shaharda hukmron tilga aylandi. U payti moʻgʻullarning oʻzi ham allaqachon turkiy tilda gapirardi. Xususan, Kebakxonning ona tili turkiy til boʻlganini arab sayyohi Ibn Battuta qayd etgan. Chigʻatoy ulusi, undan keyin Temuriylar davrida turkiy til rasmiy yozishmalar tili boʻlib xizmat qildi.

Qarshida Koʻkgumbaz masjidi (XVI asr), qadimiy hammom (XVI asr), Qashqadaryo ustidagi qadimiy koʻprik (1583), Sharofboy madrasasi (XVIII asr boshlarida), Charmgar masjidi (XIX asr oʻrtalari), Bektemir madrasasi (1905), Xoja Abdulaziz madrasasi (XIX asr), Qilichbek madrasasi (XIX asr) va boshqa meʼmoriy obidalar saqlanib qolgan.

TAŞKENT ÖZBEKİSTAN
Taşkent , Özbekistan'ın başkenti ve büyük şehridir. Bu şehir, Özbekistan'ın kuzeydoğu kesiminde yer almaktır ve şehrin yüzölçümü 334,8 km2 (129,3 mil2)'dir. 2021 yılı sayımlarına göre şehrin nüfusu 2.694.400'dir. 2018 yılı verilerine göre Taşkent'in GSYİH'sı $2,74 milyar olup, onu Özbekistan'ın en büyük GSYİH'ye sahip şehri yapmaktadır.
Orta Asya'nın nüfus bakımından en büyük kenti olan Taşkent, eski Sovyet Cumhuriyetleri içinde de Moskova, Sankt-Peterburg ve Kiev'den sonra dördüncü büyük kenttir. 1966 yılında yaşanan yıkıcı depremin ardından kent, büyük ölçüde yeniden inşa edilmiştir.
Geniş yolları, yeşil alanları, park-bahçeleri, düzenli yerleşimi, düzenli ve sağlam altyapısı ile kent, Sovyet şehir planlamacılığının en önemli örneklerinden biridir.
751 yılında Araplar tarafından ele geçirilen kent, İpek Yolu güzergâhı üzerinde önemli bir nokta olmuştur. Şehir ilk kez 11. yüzyıl dolaylarında Biruni ve Kâşgarlı Mahmud'un yazılı metinlerinde Taşkent adıyla anılmıştır.

Şehir, cumhurbaşkanı tarafından atanan ve şehir meclisi tarafından ataması onaylanan vali-belediye başkanı Özbekçe: Şehir Hakimi tarafından yönetilir. Ana yönetim birimi Taşkent Şehir Hakimiyeti olarak adlandırılır.
Şehir Özbekçe Tümen olarak adlandırılan 11 idari bölgeye ilçe ayrılmıştır. Bu idari bölgeler; Bektemir, Mirza Uluğbey, Mirabad, Sergeli, Sabir Rahimov, Üçtepe, Çilanzar, Hamza, Şeyhantaur, Yunusabad ve Yakasaray'dır. Bu idari alt bölümler tümen hakimiyetleri olarak adlandırılırlar ve tümen hakimleri tarafından yönetilirler. Taşkent şehrinde 474 mahalle Özbekçe: Mahalla mevcuttur. Mahalleler reyon denilen küçük bölgelere ayrılmıştır.

Tashkent /tæʃˈkɛnt/, Uzbek: Toshkent, Тошкент / تاشکند, US also /tɑːʃ-/, from Russian: Ташкент or Toshkent /tɒʃˈkɛnt/; IPA: tɒʃˈkent] , historically known as Chach, is the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan. It is the most populous city in Central Asia, with a population of 3 million. It is located in northeastern Uzbekistan, near the border with Kazakhstan. Tashkent comes from the Turkic tash and kent, literally translated as Stone City or City of Stones.
Before Islamic influence started in the mid-8th century AD, Tashkent was influenced by the Sogdian and Turkic cultures. After Genghis Khan destroyed it in 1219, it was rebuilt and profited from the Silk Road. From the 18th to the 19th centuries, the city became an independent city-state, before being re-conquered by the Khanate of Kokand. In 1865, Tashkent fell to the Russian Empire; it became the capital of Russian Turkestan. In Soviet times, it witnessed major growth and demographic changes due to forced deportations from throughout the Soviet Union. Much of Tashkent was destroyed in the 1966 Tashkent earthquake, but it was rebuilt as a model Soviet city. It was the fourth-largest city in the Soviet Union at the time, after Moscow, Leningrad and Kyiv.

During its long history, Tashkent has undergone various changes in names and political and religious affiliations. Abu Rayhan Biruni wrote that the city's name Tashkent comes from the Turkic tash and kent, literally translated as Stone City or City of Stones.
Tashkent was first settled some time between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC by ancient people as an oasis on the Chirchik River, near the foothills of the West Tian Shan Mountains. In ancient times, this area contained Beitian, probably the summer capital of the Kangju confederacy. Some scholars believe that a Stone Tower mentioned by Ptolemy in his famous treatise Geography, and by other early accounts of travel on the old Silk Road, referred to this settlement (due to its etymology . This tower is said to have marked the midway point between Europe and China. Other scholars, however, disagree with this identification, though it remains one of four most probable sites for the Stone Tower.
