सीतामाता वन्यजीव अभ्यारण्य प्रतापगढ़ बड़ीसादड़ी राजस्थान। sitamata wildlife sanctuary pratapgarh। part 1इसकी स्थापना 1979 में हुई।सीतामाता वन्यजीव अभयारण्य422.94 वर्गकिलोमीटर में फैला है, जो जिला मुख्यालय प्रतापगढ़ से केवल 40 किलोमीटर, उदयपुर से 100 और चित्तौडगढ़ से करीब 60 किलोमीटर दूर है। यह अद्वितीय अभयारण्य प्रतापगढ़ जिले में, राजस्थान के दक्षिण-पश्चिम क्षेत्र में अवस्थित है, जहाँ भारत की तीन पर्वतमालाएं- अरावली, विन्ध्याचल और मालवा का पठार आपस में मिल कर ऊंचे सागवान वनों की उत्तर-पश्चिमी सीमा बनाते हैं। आकर्षक जाखम नदी, जिसका पानी गर्मियों में भी नहीं सूखता, इस वन की जीवन-रेखा है।
यहां की सबसे ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण वन्यजीव प्रजातियों में उड़न गिलहरी और चौसिंघा (four Horned Antelope) हिरण उल्लेखनीय हैं।
स्थानीय लोगों की मान्यता है कि त्रेता युग (रामायण काल) में, राम द्वारा बहिष्कृत कर दिए जाने के बाद सीता ने यहीं अवस्थित महर्षि वाल्मीकि के आश्रम में न केवल निवास किया था, बल्कि उसके दोनों पुत्रों- लव और कुश का जन्म भी यहीं वाल्मीकि आश्रम में हुआ था। यहां तक कि सीता अंततः जहाँ भूगर्भ में समा गयी थी, वह स्थल भी इसी अभयारण्य में स्थित है! सेंकडों सालों से सीता से प्रतापगढ़ के रिश्तों के सम्बन्ध में इतनी प्रबल लोक-मान्यताओं के चलते यह स्वाभाविक ही था कि अभयारण्य का नामकरण सीता के नाम पर किया जाता.
यह अभयारण्य चौसिंगा के प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय स्थलों में से एक है।
यह चौसिंगा की जन्म भूमि के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। चौसिंगा एंटी लॉप प्रजाति का दुर्लभतम वन्य जीव हैं जिसे स्थानीय भाषा में भेडल भी कहा जाता है।
यह जंगली मुर्गों के अलावा पेंगोलिन (आडाहुला) जैसा दुर्लभ वन्य जीव भी पाया जाता है।
इस अभयारण्य में आर्किड एवं विशाल वृक्षीय मकड़ीयां भी दर्शनीय है। भारत के कई भागों से कई प्रजातियों के पक्षी प्रजनन के लिए यहां आते है।।
