Hazaribagh jheel is a series of artificial lakes with seven parts all on different levels so that water spills over to the other lake through a spill channel. It is an engineering marvel which conserves water and supplies to people living in Hazaribagh. It was constructed by Britishers in 1831 when they were building the central jail in Hazaribagh. They required huge amounts of clay, leaving four big craters which became lakes.
It is situated in the heart of the town. Boating facility is available here. Hazaribagh jheel is a series of artificial lakes with seven parts all on different levels so that water spills over to the other lake through a spill channel.Hazaribagh lake is a famous tourist place among locals of Jharkhand.In comprative to famous lakes of India it is a small lake.This area is very famous because most prominent bungalows of various civil servants are there, ranging from the commissioner to the judges of the district.The lake is surrounded by AIR station or Urban Haat on the north, Ranchi – Patna Road on the east, the main town of Hazaribagh on the south and the renowned Indira Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya on the west. The best view of the sunrise and the sunset is enjoyed at the end of the third lake, which happens to be the largest one. This is the ideal place for photographers.The lake is only 0.5 kms from Distt. More.Near the lake are Swarna Jayanti Park and a Cafeteria. This is one of the beautiful location in the small town in Jharkhand, which still has some charm though inundated by lots of encroachment from all around. The sunset here is very nice. The place has a famous jail where Shri Jayprakash Narayan was jailed.
It is about 3 kilometers from Hazaribagh town. There is a post office on top of the mountain. There is another mountain near this mountain. From here, complete view of Hazaribagh can be seen. There are several hills in Hazaribagh, in which the Canary Mountains are the chief. There are three lakes on this mountain, which make four beautiful moons in its beauty. A building has been built on the mountain.The beautiful scenery of Hazaribagh can be seen from this building, which makes tourists spellbound. These scenes are so beautiful that tourists do not forget to capture these photos in their cameras. It is a beautiful picnic spot and it can be visited in any season. There is a forest around the hill and the chance of wild animals can be seen at night. The lake is also under construction under the hill.
For preservation of the fauna and to enable visitors to view wild animals in their state of freedom a national park has been constituted within the Hazaribag district. It starts from about 10 miles from Hazaribag town on the Hazaribag-Barhi road and extends to east and west, but mostly westward for several miles. The total area is about 150 square miles with a core of right-free forest covering 80 square miles. Shooting is strictly prohibited in the entire 150 square miles, but while the inner core of 80 square miles has been preserved in the state of nature and no cutting of trees or disturbance of the flora in any manner is permitted, in the outer fringe of 70 square miles normal exploration has been allowed. A number of watchtowers to view the forest and wild life have been constructed and a Forest Rest House built at Rajderwah, 18 miles, from Hazaribag. The National Park is a beauty spot. A number of dams have been built and more are in process of construction. The purpose is to create pools of water where the animals may drink in summer. Towers generally have been constructed above these pools so that in summer visitors may sit on these towers and easily see the animals that will come to drink water. Artificial saltlicks have also been made for the animals. Roads have been constructed and are being extended. In addition to this National Park, the Koderma Reserved Forests have also been functioning as game sanctuary where shooting is prohibited.
In Jharkhand, located around 28km away from Ramgarh, is one of India’s oldest and most revered temples, the Rajrappa Mandir, or the Chinnamasta Temple. It is said to be over 6000 years old and still attracts thousands of visitors every day. A site of both religious and historical importance, this temple attracts pilgrims and devotees from all over India and abroad; to awe at the beautiful tantric architecture and the rituals conducted on a daily and weekly basis. There are also several Hindu festivals celebrated at the temple.
