Korat comes from an older name the city was called many years ago.
A 3 to 4-hour drive from Bangkok in a North-Easterly direction will bring you to this wonderful city when it comes to things to do and places to see in Thailand Kort has many many things s to see and do!.

ABOUT KORAT
Nakhon Ratchasima (Thai: นครราชสีมา,) is one of the four major cities of Isan, Thailand, known as the big four of Isan. The city is commonly known as Korat (โคราช, pronounced)a shortened form of its name. It is the governmental seat of the Nakhon Ratchasima Province and Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District. Nakhon Ratchasima is the heart of the Nakhon Ratchasima metropolitan area.
Korat is at the western edge of the Korat Plateau. Historically, it once marked the boundary between Lao and Siamese territory. It is the gateway to the Lao-speaking northeast (Isan). the municipal area had a population of 142,645

Nakhon Ratchasima or Korat Thailand is the most prosperous province of the East. Its richness of culture is very interesting since it has its own folk song called ‘Pleng Korat.’ Nakhon Ratchasima is also important to Thai history. All ranges of tourist attractions are available here that you need to take quite some time to visit all of them.
Locating a few hours away from Bangkok with easy transportation the province is very popular with tourists, especially in Khao Yai National Park.
Nakhon Ratchasima is the biggest province in Thailand in term of space. HOW TO GO BY BUS BY TRAIN BY AIR
There are general bus and air-conditioned bus available every day from Bangkok to Nakorn Ratchasima in the Bangkok Bus Terminal (North-eastern bound) or Mor Chit 2 in Kampanphet road. The journey takes around 3 hours. Contact Bangkok terminal tel. 1490 for more information.
