🇹🇲 Short drive outside of White City - Ashgabat, a capital city of Turkmenistan 🇹🇲

Ashgabat is called Aşgabat in Turkmen. Although the name literally means city of love or city of devotion in Persian. Turkmen historians believe that the name goes back to the Parthian era, 3rd century BC, deriving from the name of the founder of the Parthian Empire, Arsaces I of Parthia, in Persian Ashk-Abad.

Ashgabat is the capital and the largest city of Turkmenistan. It is situated between the Karakum Desert and the Kopet Dag mountain range in Central Asia. It is also near the Iran-Turkmenistan border.

Ashgabat is a showpiece capital. The city looks like none other on Earth – a thoroughly artificial collection of white marble buildings across a long, dry valley. The biggest attraction in Ashgabat is the many, many white marble buildings.

Go Asia- TURKMENISTAN |Go World

Yangi-Kala canyon is one of the most picturesque places in Turkmenistan. Translated from the Turkmen language, its name means Fiery Fortresses.

The “fiery fortress” at Yangykala canyon was carved out of limestone 5,5 million years ago by the disappearing Tethys sea.
The unique attraction is located 165 km north of Balkanabat and 160 km east of Turkmenbashi and is popular with both local residents and tourists.

At one point, the Amu Darya ran its course right into the Caspian Sea, and over time, it created some magnificent landscapes on the way.
The view of space landscapes, which you can admire to your heart's content, climbing a narrow ledge, protruding with a sharp edge above a high cliff, is breathtaking.

Yangi-Kala resembles a gigantic and impregnable fortress, erected by nature itself many centuries ago from layers of red, white, yellow and orange shades. The color of the rocks of the canyon is dominated by red, so the locals often call it Kyzildag (Red Mountains).
