Am petrecut un weekend prelungit in Maramures. Am intocmit o lista cu 10 atractii din Maramures, zona Sapanta. Am fost cazati in Sapanta, am vizitat Cimitirul vesel din Sapanta, Manastirea din Sapanta, Cascada Sapanta, Biserica de lemn de la Plopis, Biserica de lemn de la Budesti, Manastirea Budesti, Biserica de lemn de la Surdesti, Manastirea Barsana si am petrecut o zi in Viseu pe Valea Vaserului in Mocanita.
Daca va placut dati un Like, Share cu prietenii vostrii si uitati sa va Abonati pentru a fi impreuna si la urmatoarele postari.

Am plecat din Cluj Napoca si dupa vreo 3 ore suntem in Baia Mare.
Baia Mare este municipiul de reședință al județului Maramureș, Transilvania, România, format din localitățile componente Baia Mare (reședința), Blidari, Firiza și Valea Neagră. Orașul este situat în depresiunea Baia Mare, pe cursul mijlociu al râului Săsar, la poalele Munților Gutâi.
Cele mai importante centre miniere ale județului Maramureș sunt localizate în teritoriile ce înconjoară orașul Baia Mare. Regiunea este cunoscută nu doar pentru bogățiile subterane, ci și pentru împrejurimile ce-i conferă o frumusețe aparte locului.

The city is located in the Baia Mare depression, on the middle course of the Săsar River, at the foot of the Gutâi Mountains.
The most important mining centers of Maramureș county are located in the territories surrounding the city of Baia Mare. The region is known not only for underground riches, but also for the surroundings that give the place a special beauty.

--MARAMURES WHAT TO DO—
We stayed in Botiza from where we did the following:
► Visit the Merry Cemetery close to the Ukrainian boarder.It’s a busy place with a lot of tourists, but it’s definitely worth seeing!
► Visit Bârsana Monastery on top of the hill. Also note that the old church is not on the ground anymore as I explained in the video! You’ll need to drive to an other spot to find it.
► Look up the wooden churches on the map, and just visit some of them. Also the ones not on the world heritage list are very beautiful! Call the number on the church to watch inside, if you’re lucky there’s a guide, sometimes English speaking.
► Hike, the surroundings are beautiful! And with the hills not being too steep it’s a pleasure walking here.
--WHERE TO SLEEP BOTIZA, MARAMURES--
We stayed in Pensiunea Sidau Parasca. Which was a great place! Very friendly people, good bed and good (local) food. We got great breakfasts and dinners! The hosts don’t speak much English.
Also George Iurca was recommended online, since he knows a lot about history as well!
--WHERE TO EAT BOTIZA, MARAMURES--
Since we only ate at the house we stayed in, we didn’t experience much outside. And also I do remember there were not a lot of restaurants from what I saw.
--TRANSPORTATION—
► We had our own car to go around which I would highly recommend. Lots of places are in rural area’s so it’s very convenient to have your own kind of transport here.

A day in Baia Mare, Romania🇷🇴
Baia Mare is a town known for two things: the factory chimney taller than the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower and the roasted chestnuts you can find during autumn.
We had a stroll through the Baia Mare market to get some fresh chestnuts and admire the old city center of this town in the North of Romania.
On our roadtrip we stopped throgh Dej to see what can you expect from a town of the way to Transylvania's largest city.

Following World War I, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was dissolved, and in 1920, Baia Mare officially became part of the Kingdom of Romania. It became part of Hungary again between since 1940 by the Second Vienna Award, until the end of World War II. Near the end of that period, the city hosted the Baia Mare ghetto. After the war, the city was returned to Romania. Shortly after World War II in postwar development, the town of Baia Mare started to grow both in population and inhabited area. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a new town centre was developed with modern architecture buildings and structures.
On 30 January 2000,[7] Baia Mare was the site of what has been considered Europe's worst ecological disaster since Chernobyl, which took place at gold mining company Aurul, a joint-venture of the Australian company Esmeralda Exploration and the Romanian government.[8] The tailing dam at the gold processing plant broke and 100,000 cubic metres (3,531,467 cubic feet) 70 tons of toxic cyanide and heavy metal-laced waste water escaped into the River Tisza and into Hungary, making its way into the Danube and affecting Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Serbia, and Bulgaria.[8] More than 1,400 tons of fish, numerous eagles, storks and otters died.[8] Scientists fear the release may have led to the ultimate extinction of at least five fish species.[9] Despite the accident's happening in Romania, much of the adverse effects were suffered in Hungary. The accident prompted Hungary to ban the use of cyanide in gold processing and it has urged the rest of Europe to do the same.[10
