1. Visit La Libertad 🏄
La Libertad, considered El Salvador’s surf capital, is located about 30 minutes outside San Salvador. Travellers can visit the El Puerto de La Libertad (The Pier), which is a popular attraction that includes farmers markets with an abundance of fresh seafood, crafts made by local artisans, and plenty of restaurants.
2. Discover the architecture and artifacts of Joya de Cerén 🌾
Discovered in 1976, Joya de Cerén is a Maya farming community that was buried by the eruption of the Lomo Caldera Volcano around 600 AD. It’s a well-preserved archaeological site (similar to Pompeii in Italy) that provides a time capsule of how the Maya people lived, with their architecture and artifacts remaining intact and in their original positions. Travellers can explore the site of approximately 18 structures of which 10 have been excavated, revealing passages and homes built of white soil, clay, and mud.
3. Explore Suchitoto Colonial Town 🌼
Located in the mountains of Cuscatlán and overlooking Lago Suchitlan, Suchitoto is an amazing town with cobblestones streets and colonial buildings. One of the highlights of this charming town is Santa Lucia Church, which was built in the mid-1800s and is famous for its beautiful colonial architecture.
4. Go Hiking in Montecristo National Park 🦩
Montecristo National Park is a cloud forest in the northernwestern part of the country, with 4,950ac and an elevation reaching up to 2,418m/7933 ft. It features an abundance of native flora and fauna, making it a great spot for nature lovers. Lucky travellers may be fortunate enough to see the Quetzal Flamingo, one of El Salvador’s most emblematic birds.

El Salvador Travel Guide - An Amazing Adventure
El Salvador Travel Guide - An Amazing Adventure
El Salvador is a country in Central America and, geographically, is part of continental North America. It is bordered on the southwest by the Pacific Ocean, and lies between Guatemala and Honduras. It is divided into 14 sections called Departments. It has 25 volcanoes, 14 lakes, and three large cities and is divided in to East, Central and West with the the capital San Salvador in the central region, Santa Ana in the west and San Miguel the largest city in the east.
The civilization of El Salvador dates from the pre-Columbian time, around 1500 BC, according to evidence provided by the ancient structures of Tazumal in Chalchuapa. El Salvador has a tropical climate with pronounced wet and dry seasons. Temperatures vary primarily with elevation and show little seasonal change. The Pacific lowlands are uniformly hot; the central plateau and mountain areas are more moderate.

The countryside of El Salvador is breathtaking, with volcanoes and mountains offering green adventurers exactly what they are looking for. Many of environmentally-oriented community-based organizations promote eco-tourism, and there are a number of beautiful and secluded beaches and forests scattered throughout the country.
A well-maintained and sparsely populated national park is found in the west at Bosque El Imposible. Additionally, there is Montecristo Cloud Forest, and a quaint fishing village with incredible local hospitality and remote coconut islands in La Isla de Méndez. Isla de Olomega in the department of San Miguel is an excellent eco-tourism destination, as are the beautiful Isla El Cajete in Sonsonate, Isla San Sebastian, Conchagua, Conchaguita, Isla Conejo, Isla Teopan, and Isla Meanguera.
One should also visit the colonial towns of Ataco, Apaneca, Juayua, Panchimalco, and Suchitoto as well as the Mayan sites of San Andrés, Joya de Cerén (The Pompeii of Central America and an UNESCO World Heritage Site), and Tazumal, whose main pyramid rises some 75 feet into the air. The on-site museum showcases artifacts from the Pipil culture (the builders of Tazumal), as well as paintings that illustrate life in pre-Hispanic El Salvador. Souvenir hunters will find some of the best artisans in San Juan el Espino and in La Palma (the artisan capital of El Salvador).
The capital, San Salvador, is a cosmopolitan city with good restaurants highlighting the country’s fresh seafood, as well as plenty of shopping, entertainment and nightlife. San Miguel in the East offers tourists a more authentic way to see El Salvador by getting off the beaten track to see its countryside, coastline and lakes

Sightseeing San Salvador & Suchitoto in El Salvador
This video is about San Salvador, Suchitoto and the adventures around it. El Salvador is the smallest country in central America, so no distance is far. The capital San Salvador is definitely worth a visit. There is usually something going on in the city centre. The plaza is filled with people coming together to dance and play music or just sit together. The botanical garden in town is small but cute. The 500m deep crater of San Salvador Volcano is also a nice visit. On the way back, the café San Cristóbal' is a good place to go. My absolute favourite place, the excellent view and the delicious pupusas, as well as the home-grown café is highly recommended. Pupusa is one of the nations dishes. It's a pocket filled with cheese and extras of your choice, such as meat or beans.
My buddy Alberto also introduces other local dishes.
In a day trip I explore the area of Suchitoto and meet more ingenious people while hitchhiking. Suchitoto is an old town in the north of the country. The quiet little village makes a welcoming and chamat impression.

WARNING! Don't Go to El Salvador
El Salvador has the best beaches and the people are extremely nice. I could've recorded more but out of respect to the locals, I didn't.
The weather was amazing, the food was awesome and there's so many things to do in the big and small cities. What shocked me the most was how respectful people were to one another in comparison to the US. They all genuinely cared about their community and are far happier people.

Things to do in El Salvador!
I recently had the privilege to visit the beautiful country of El Salvador! I was amazed by the beauty, the infrastructure, the energy, the culture and hospitality. I started my journey in a town called El Congo (near lago de Coatepeque), where I received my open water diving license certification. After that I booked an Airbnb in a town called Antiguo Cuscatlán located in San Salvador. Fortunately I was able to be a part of their 2 day celebration called “Feast of the Holy Innocents”, which was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend for anyone traveling to El Salvador to visit during that celebration (December 28th - 29th) . Next day I visited the charming towns of Nauhizalco and Ataco where i got to experience the local lifestyle. The next day I went to the El Tunco beach, which is famous for surfing so I had to take my first ever surf lesson. The last day in El Salvador I did a sunrise hike on the largest active volcano in El Salvador called Santa Ana, which was one of the highlights this trip. Oh and last but not least I fell in love with papusas and gained about 10 extra bounds. I have travelled to a lot of places but people of this country had a different kind of love for their current president! This video will show you the incredible time I had in El Salvador!
