Where in Iowa is Jeff?

Finally, after 5,000 miles on the road and 157 dance clips, the video of my tour of Iowa is complete. Filmed between May and November of 2007, it is my spoof of Matt Harding of This video was shot entirely on my Canon PowerShot A540 and started as a goofy way to highlight the places I finally took the opportunity to see in my home state, places I have wanted to see since I was a kid. Yes, that really is Matt Harding dancing with me in the Inspiration by... clip. This summer, I was fortunate enough to dance with Matt with a group in Chicago for Matt's next around-the-world video. It's due out in June 2008. In the meantime:

Lastly, my apologies to Iowa City, Pella, Davenport, Marion, Waterloo, Mason City, Fairfield, Brooklyn, Forest City, Van Wert, and the other hundreds of cities, towns, parks, golf courses, and cool places that I did not have time to visit or shot crappy clips that didn't make the final cut. There is WAY too much in Iowa to see in one summer, but I made a good run at it.

Iowans, get away from your TV's and computers and go see your state!!! You really don't know what you're missing.

This is Iowa: Make Your Move

“I grew up in Fresno, California for 18 years. We were thinking of moving to Colorado, we were thinking of moving to California, also to Wisconsin,” said Juan Navarro, who lives with his young family in Ames. “We wanted to start a family as soon as possible, so that being said, we knew Iowa was the place to be as far as cost of living, the housing market, that whole realm of life was just perfect.”

Find out why a move to Iowa could be perfect for you and your family:

Where in Iowa is Jeff? - The Trailer

This fall, I will post my parody of Where the Hell is Matt?. As of 10/3, I've shot maybe 75% of the dances I plan to shoot. Goofy? Yes. Waste of time? Absolutely not. I've discovered a lot in my oft-stereotyped home state. See you in the fall.

Waterloo, IA | A 4K City Walking Tour

Waterloo was originally known as Prairie Rapids Crossing. The town was established near two Meskwaki American tribal seasonal camps alongside the Cedar River. It was first settled in 1845 when George and Mary Melrose Hanna and their children arrived on the east bank of the Red Cedar River (now just called the Cedar River). The name Waterloo supplanted the original name, Prairie Rapids Crossing, shortly after Charles Mullan petitioned for a post office in the town. Since the signed petition did not include the name of the proposed post office location, Mullan was charged with selecting the name when he submitted the petition. Tradition has it that as he flipped through a list of other post offices in the United States, he came upon the name Waterloo. The name struck his fancy, and a post office was established under that name.
