La Nationale 44 débouche dans la partie haute de la ville, la poursuivre au-delà nous mènerait vers le nord du lac Alaotra qui échappe à notre vision. Une série de rues et d'avenues adjacentes ou transversales descendent vers la ville basse où se trouve le marché et la majeure partie des commerces. Dépendances de ministères, de nombreux bâtiments publics se répartissent dans les deux partie de la commune.
Nous sommes restés dans le passé. Le pourtour de collines qui entoure l'agglomération est demeuré vierge. Ce centre d'activité économique attire des environs une population rurale, agricole, arrivant à pieds, en benne attelée à un motoculteur pétaradant ou à taxi-moto. La densité humaine est faible comparées aux villes en explosion démographique. Dans le centre, en dehors du quartier du marché, les rues sont presque vides sous le soleil et dans l'air qui s'agite un peu, entre les anciennes demeures coloniales et malgaches et les bâtiments modernes de style cubiste.

On part d'Andasibe à un trentaine de kms de Moramanga, une petite journée de roulage, 187 kms avant de rejoindre Ambatondrazaka.
Après cette étape à Andasibe, Moramanga, où il est temps de prendre la direction d'Ambatondrazaka, région Alaotra-Mangoro. C'est une route qui file au Nord en longeant la voie ferrée MLA – Moramanga-Lac Alaotra. Neuve, l'asphalte est encore immaculée. Des marquages au sol, des panneaux de signalisation en béton, copies maladroites de leurs modèles en France. Tout le long et parfois situé dans des zones déroutantes, des ralentisseurs flambant neufs, des « dos d'âne » ou « gendarme couché » qui après une soixantaine de kilomètres cessent d'avoir des dimensions ordinaires et prennent une hauteur extravagante qui doit forcer les petites voitures de tourisme à les gravir au pas et de travers. Betsileo Country Lodge ligt 8 kilometer buiten het stadje Ambalavao, direct aan de RN7 op een heuvel tegenover de berg 'de kapitein'. De lodge biedt 14 ruime kamers met balkon en uitzicht op de berg, de rijstvelden en het lokale leven. When making the 3-4 hour drive east from the capital city of Antananarivo to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, the only real town you pass through is Moramanga, which is the only place people can get work in this part of Madagascar. Video is from a drive down the main street of Moramanga.
