Shakambhari (Sanskrit: शाकम्भरी, IAST: Śākambharī), also referred to as Shatakshi, is a goddess of nourishment. She is regarded to be an incarnation of Mahadevi, and identified with both Lakshmi and Durga in Hinduism. After the malevolent asura Durgamasura deprived the earth of nourishment by causing the sages to forget the Vedas, the goddess appeared to offer human beings and devas sufficient fruits and vegetables to restore their strength.
After the asura Durgamasura sought to plunge the earth in drought and scarcity, a century of suffering endured on earth, when the sages finally remembered the goddess Lakshmi after the asura had made them forget about the Vedas, she appeared upon the worlds in a dark-hued blue form, casting her hundred eyes on the sages. When the sages extolled and chanted the hymns of Ishvari, the four-handed goddess appeared bearing a lotus, arrows, a great bow, and vegetables, fruits, flower, and roots. According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, seeing the misery of the people, she showered incessant tears from her eyes, streaming into rivers, and offering medicines.
Lakshmi shares her deed with Indra in the Lakshmi Tantra:
O Sakra, men will then extol me as the hundred-eyed (deity) and I shall nourish the whole world with wonderful life-sustaining plants issuing from my own body and filled with (my essence: dvistaih). Then, Vasava, the gods will worship me as Sakambhari (the embodiment of vegetation).

The Uma Samhita of Shiva Purana identifies Devi Satakshi and Shakambari as manifestations of Goddess Parvati. A parallel account is also found in the Skanda Purana, where Parvati is said to have slain the demon Durgamasura.

Saharanpur is located at 29.97°N 77.55°E, about 130 kilometres (81 mi) south-southeast of Chandigarh, 170 kilometres (110 mi) north-northeast of Delhi, 65 kilometres (40 mi) north-northeast of Shamli and about 61 kilometres (38 mi) south-west of Dehradun. It has an average elevation of 291 metres (955 ft). Saharanpur is a part of a geographical doab region. Saharanpur district joins four states together Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana.
According to the 2011 Indian census, Saharanpur had a population of 705,478, 12.5% of whom were under the age of six, living in 129,856 households within the municipal corporation limits.[9]: 26–27 The city is spread over an area of 46.74 km2 (18.05 sq mi) and with a population density of 15,093.67/km2 (39,092.4/sq mi), is the eleventh most populous city in Uttar Pradesh. Saharanpur had a population of 455,754 in 2001 and 374,945 in 1991.
Males constitute of 52.7% of the total population while females constitute of 47.3% of the total population and thus, the city has a sex ratio of 891 females for every 1,000 males. The city has an average literacy rate of 76.32%. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes account for 14.2% and 0.1% of the population respectively. There are 233,196 people, constituting about 33% of the total population, who live in slums in the city.
Roughly half of the city's population are Hindus, who form a slight majority, while Muslims constitute about 45 percent of the total population. Sikhs and Jains are also present in smaller numbers.

The oldest temple of Maa Shakumbhari Devi is situated on the Shivalik hills in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This temple is considered to be the oldest of all the temples of Goddess Shakumbhari. This temple was built by the Pundir Rajputs along with Rana Bahadur Singh Pundir on the ruins of a very old temple. The famous Shakumbhari fairs are organized here on the festival of Navratri and Holi of Ashwin and Chaitra months. This entire region is part of the princely state of Jasmour. This is the same area of the Shivalik hills from where the Hindon river has originated. In this video complete information and religious history of Maa Shakumbhari temple has been told. Shaktipeeth Shri Shakumbhari Devi Temple, Saharanpur | Fair, timings and Complete Story
Shakumbhri Devi temple is situated at a distance of 40 km to the north of Saharanpur & 230 km from Delhi, in Uttar Pradesh state of Northern India. It has two important temples of Hindu deities: one of the Goddess (Devi) Shakumbhri herself and another one, Bhura-Dev temple, located one kilometer away from it to the east, of the deity Bhairava, considered to be her guard. Another temple dedicated to this goddess and quite famous is near Sambhar Lake, in Rajasthan. Another big temple of Shakumbari Devi is located in Badami, of Bagalkot District of Karnataka.

جامعہ مظاہر علوم سہارنپور ، اترپردیش میں واقع ایک اسلامی مدرسہ ہے۔ رجب 1282ھ نومبر 1866ء میں سعادت علی فقیہ نے شروع کیا اور محمد مظہر نانوتوی اور احمد علی سہارنپوری کے زمانہ میں مزید ترقی کی۔ اسے بھارت کا دوسرا بااثر اور سب سے بڑا دیوبندی مدرسہ سمجھا جاتا ہے۔ مدرسہ کے ابتدائی فارغین میں مشہور محدث خلیل احمد سہارنپوری بھی شامل ہیں۔
