Visiting the Alamo San Antonio, Texas
Visiting the Alamo San Antonio, Texas
Do you have a question about visiting the Alamo? If I didn't answer it in this video, please leave a comment below and I'll try to answer it!
The Alamo is a symbol of Texas freedom and independence, but it's also part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, as it was first constructed as a Spanish Mission.
The Alamo is currently undergoing major renovations, and they have just opened a new collections center which is a state of the art, 2 story, exhibit center. There is an additional charge to visit this space, but the church, the long barrack, and the Alamo grounds can be visited for free. The guides at the Alamo are a wealth of information, so if you are interested in a guided tour to get a better understanding of the history and stories from the property, you can get a 30 min guided tour for $45 which includes admission to the newly constructed Ralston Collections Center. If you are visiting the Alamo and you just have questions, be sure and ask the guides around the property, they love to share their knowledge with you!
There is no parking at the Alamo and parking is at a premium in downtown San Antonio. You will need to look for downtown parking options, the Crocket Parking Garage is nearby and reasonably priced.

10 best things to do in San Antonio, Texas
Travel tips about what to do in San Antonio from a local expert.
San Antonio is currently the 7th largest city in the United States, and ranked one of the number one cities to visit. Why, you ask? San Antonio is more than just a city it's a community of some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Also because of the number of military bases and businesses in town, they have an eclectic mix of people. There is no shortage of fabulous attractions.
The Alamo city has one of the most beautiful botanical garden in the country, and is a must see! The San Antonio Botanical Garden's new expansion includes an adventure garden for kids and a culinary garden that features fantastic events for both adults and children. Although phase 1 of their multi-million dollar additions is complete, there's still more to come.
While the kids (and some adults) will love the rides at Fiesta Texas ()one of the best entertainment parks in the country) and the specialized interactive (even educational) fun to be had at the DoSeum, the whole family can enjoy an exploration of San Antonio's history at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and the Witte Museum. Did we mention they have dinosaurs? (Not real ones, of course!)
