The Pardubice region
The Pardubice Region has plenty of attractive natural and recreational areas, historical monuments and interesting sights for tourists. The protected landscape areas include the Železné mountains and the Orlické mountains, Žďárské vrchy, the area of Králický Sněžník, and the landscape along the Elbe river.
Medieval castles established from the 13th century onwards at strategic points in the region are among the most valuable architectural monuments. The dominant feature of the Železné mountains is Lichnice Castle. The ruins of Oheb Castle overlooking Seč dam offer a wonderful viewpoint for tourists. Lanšperk, Brandýs and Žampach, in the Ústí nad Orlicí area, and the small castles at Žumberk and Rabštejn in the Chrudim district are also recommended. The most significant historical monuments in the region are connected with the noble Pernštejn family, from Moravia, who had two huge castles built, at Litice on the Orlice and on Kunětická hora near Pardubice.

Three Towns in the Southern Czech Republic - Telč, Brno, and Ústí nad Orlicí by bus and train
Nearing the end of our two month trip we visited the towns of Telč, Brno, and Ústí nad Orlicí in the southern part of the Czech Republic.
In Telč we stayed at Hotel Telč and ate at Ristorante Hotel U Hrabenky. From Telč we took a bus to the Moravian town of Brno. It rained the whole time we were there and we walked all around the castle. We stayed at Bercelo Brno Palace Hotel and ate at Retro Consistorium.
We took a train from Brno to Ústí nad Orlicí. We stayed at Hotel Na Zámečku. We couldn't figure out how to get a cab to our hotel so we walked. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Semanín (German called Schirmdorf, from which the Latin name Villa Zirmeri was derived) is a village in eastern Bohemia in the Pardubice Region. It is located in the district of Ústí nad Orlicí and has 631 [1] inhabitants and an area of 886 ha. Territory above Orlicí from the border with the district Svitavy. It lies about 14 km (9mi) from the regional center Ústí nad Orlicí. The first mention of the village dates back to 1347, the settlement then belonged to the bishop of Litomyšl. The Czech name of the village has been documented since the early 15th century. Semanín is only 3 km from Česká Třebová and was part of the town between 1976 and 1998.
Sightseeing The dominant and the biggest attraction of the village is the historic bell tower dating from the beginning of the 17th century. Originally defensive belfry is asymmetric, with a brick bottom and a crate floor. Decorations and inscriptions are painted on the roof. On the bell tower is a bell with a diameter of 1.05 m, 0.8 m high from 1609. Church of St. Bartholomew - originally wooden, today Baroque building from 1696. Several sculptures - 2x Holy Trinity, 2x Crucifixion, oldest from 1701 Probably the oldest monument in the village is the conciliation cross in Bukáč above the village.

Prohlížení památek Dominantou a největším lákadlem obce je historická zvonice z počátku 17. století. Původně obranná zvonice je asymetrická, s cihlovým dnem a bednou. Na střeše jsou vymalovány ozdoby a nápisy. Na zvonici je zvon s průměrem 1,05 m, výškou 0,8 m od roku 1609. Kostel sv. Mikuláše Bartoloměje - původně dřevěná, dnes barokní stavba z roku 1696. Několik soch - 2 x Nejsvětější Trojice, 2 x Ukřižování, nejstarší z roku 1701 Asi nejstarší památkou v obci je smírčí kříž v Bukáči nad obcí.

Przeglądaj zabytki Dominującą i największą atrakcją wsi jest zabytkowa dzwonnica z początku XVII wieku. Pierwotnie obronna dzwonnica jest asymetryczna, z ceglanym dnem i skrzynią. Dekoracje i napisy są malowane na dachu. Dzwonnica ma dzwon o średnicy 1,05 m, wysokości 0,8 m od 1609 r. Kościół św. Mikołaj Bartłomiej - pierwotnie drewniana, dziś barokowa budowla z 1696 r. Kilka posągów - 2 x Święta Trójca, 2 x Ukrzyżowanie, najstarsze z 1701 r Prawdopodobnie najstarszym zabytkiem we wsi jest krzyż pojednawczy w Bukáču nad wsią.

Valtice Castle is a Baroque style castle located in Valtice, Czech Republic. It was built in the 17th century for the ruling Liechtenstein family and it served as their summer residence. The castle is known for its beautiful gardens and extensive wine cellars. Valtice Castle is one of the largest and most important Baroque residences in Central Europe. It features grand halls, elegant staircases, and luxurious apartments. The interior is decorated with intricate frescoes, stucco work, and richly carved wooden ceilings.
The castle is surrounded by a vast landscape park, which includes various garden pavilions, fountains, and statues. The park also features a unique geometrically designed French garden with a charming Minaret and a beautiful Temple of Diana.
One of the highlights of Valtice Castle is its wine cellars. Built in the 13th century, they are among the largest wine cellars in Europe and have been used for wine production for centuries. Visitors can take guided tours of the cellars and taste some of the local wines.

I travelled with R 889 Slovacky Express from Praha hl.n to Olomouc hl.n at 20.5.2023 the ride time is 2:27H and 250 KM the ride is going over the biggest station Pardubice and Ceska Trebova. I also travelled one time with an Pendolino Super City train from Plzen to Olomouc. I really can recommend pay a bit more for a Super City train or an EC Train because then you become more service the seat space was not very much and the seats were not very comfortable. But this train is very often on Time.

The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.
ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.
ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers.
