10 HAITIAN FOODS You Must Try!

11 a.m. HAITIAN FOOD BRUNCH - 10+ Traditional HAITIAN DISHES in Miami, Florida!!

???????? CHEF JASON PERU:
???????? CANDICE:
???????? NAOMI’S GARDEN:

My food adventures with my friends Chef Jason Peru and Candice Mohan continued in my hometown of Miami with some Haitian cuisine! Come with us as we eat authentic Haitian food at Naomi’s Garden!

Naomi’s Garden is a restaurant and lounge at the corner of three neighborhoods, including Little Haiti. Haitian food has lots of Creole and Caribbean influences, and I couldn’t wait to check it out!

???? MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG:
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

They have a little window where you can place your order. You can also see the different foods they have. I could see soups, casseroles, meat, seafood, poultry, vegan options, and more.

Inside, we met the owner, Noam, who took us into the kitchen, where they were making beans, mayi (cornmeal), mayi kole (cornmeal with pinto beans, spices, etc.), rice, cabbage salad, oxtail, greens, and a spice blend called epis (which is used in nearly every Haitian dish)!

They also made a spicy, baked macaroni and cheese, which I couldn’t wait to try. There was also chicken marinating in the epis for three days before they bake it. The pieces of chicken were huge!

I couldn’t wait to try everything! There were some pickled and spicy salads, liver stew, jerk chicken, fried grouper, and more there. We got three different places so we could try as much as possible!

We headed over to to the outdoor dining hall with our plates. It’s a nice, large garden area.

The spinach stew was creamy and similar to collard greens, while the legume (veg stew) was so flavorful! The jerk chicken was so tender it fell off the bone, and the oxtail contained tons of tender, fatty meat. I had to suck out the marrow!

I loved the spicy cabbage salad. It contained a nice amount of vinegar as well. It was almost like a fresh, non-fermented kimchi! The baked chicken epis was flavorful and moist, with a crispy, roasted exterior.

Next was the mayi kolé, which were like grits with kidney beans. It was so tasty and grainy, and felt very healthy, too. I really loved the fried plantains, too.

The spaghetti with hot dogs was really tasty. The andouille sausage in it was nice, too! I loved the massive portion sizes here!

The fried grouper was a fantastic fried fish filet. There were no bones. Adding some pikliz (pickled cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and scotch bonnets) added a crunch and some heat. It was the perfect combo!

Haiti
Country in the Caribbean
Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact. These include Citadelle la Ferrière, a mountaintop fortress, and the nearby ruins of Sans-Souci Palace, the baroque former royal home of King Henry I. ― Google

Port-au-Prince
Capital of Haiti
Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, sits on the Gulf of Gonâve. The Musée du Panthéon National Haïtien honors the nation’s history and founding fathers. The Iron Market, a large 1891 covered bazaar, has produce and handicraft vendors. Nearby is the immense Notre Dame de l'Assomption Cathedral, reduced to a ruin by a 2010 earthquake. Colorful gingerbread-style houses from the turn of the 19th century dot the city. ― Google

????????Dominican Food vs ????????Haitian Food. And the winner is? Travel to Haiti /Travel to Dominican Republic

Dominican Food vs Haitian Food... And the winner is? I traveled to Haiti and Dominican Republic the same month and ate delicious food. Dominican Republic and Haiti are two neighbors who share the Hispaniola Island in the Caribbean. Although these countries share so much, they are like day and light. In this video, I will give you a review of Dominican Republic food and Haitian food that I had while visiting both countries. Just as the countries are a stark difference, their food also tastes very differently. Watch until the end of the video to find out who is the winner of my little fun and harmless Haiti vs Dominican Republic competition. If you had food from Haiti and Dominican Republic before, please do leave a comment below and tell us which one you prefer.

Diri Djon Djon, Griot, Bouyon Bef & Pikliz ???????? | Trying Haitian Food in Little Haiti Brooklyn

I traveled to Little Haiti in Brooklyn, NYC to try Haitian food for the first time. Watch me react to Haitian black rice (diri djon djon) made with a special black mushroom, pork griot, beef stew (bouyon bef) and I also try Haitian pikliz (Haitian spicy pickled vegetable relish). There were some similarities to Filipino food that I have been eating a lot recently, the Griot reminded me of Lechon Kawali but using a different cut than Pork Belly. The cuisine of Haiti is vibrant and exciting and I recommend anyone to try it. I appreciate the Haitian kitchen tour from the owner!

TOP HAITIAN FOOD THEY EAT THE MOST//manje ayisyen manje pi plis

Discover the Flavors of Haitian Cuisine

While you explore the island, you should not miss out on any opportunity to try traditional Haitian foods. The cuisine of Haiti is heavily influenced by African traditions and tends to be very hearty and meat-centric. One you'll see in just about every restaurant bouillon, a beef stew made with meat and other vegetables..
The national dish is griot, fried pork that has been marinated in a slightly sweet and sour sauce. When you're craving seafood, order the lambi, a grilled conch dish that is unique to the Caribbean. And for dessert, try to get yourself a Haitian beignet, which incorporates bananas and cinnamon..
