1:00 Panama City: It has many amenities such as restaurants and shopping malls. The city is home to a large community of expats. Note that you'll have a different lifestyle depending on which neighborhood of Panama City you choose.
3:44 City Beaches: They are typically 45 mins to 1 hour away from Panama City. Coronado is a top choice for expats, having many restaurants and shopping places. Buenaventura is another option. Keep in mind, the City Beaches are not the prettiest in Panama.
6:27 Boquete: Has the most established expat community. You could get by without any Spanish. Plus, this mountain town is much cooler compared to Panama.

8:11 Chitré: An inland small town with modern amenities. Chitré is very affordable so it might be a great option if you're on a budget. Plus, the beaches are only 20–30 minutes away.
9:36 Mariato: This is a small town with an expat community of 300–400 people. This is a great option for adventurous expats that like the outdoor lifestyle and want easy access to great surfing beaches.
11:07 Pedasí: This is also a great option if you like to surf. However, it is not as affordable compared to other options. You will find a great community of expats if you move to Pedasí.

Panama Versus Portugal Cost of Living
Now Panama is my favorite Latin American retirement destination and we will put it up against Portugal- one of the best European destinations. Panama and Portugal have made it to the top of several well-known retirement lists and they are very popular with expats from the United States and abroad. Some of you might already know or suspect which of these countries has a lower cost of living, but you might not know exactly why. Keep watching to find out which of these countries would be best for the budget you have to work with and the lifestyle you are looking for.
If you have ever considered moving and retiring to another country such as Panama or Portugal, one of your biggest considerations will be cost of living.
