Top 15 Edmonton Tourist Attractions | Canada Tourism | Best Places Amazing Tour in North America
#FullmoonTV Explorer#Canada#Edmonton attractions
Awe-inspiring scenery, vibrant cities and a welcoming atmosphere all make Canada a popular tourist destination. As the largest country in North America, Canada is a vast land encompassing majestic mountains, spectacular coastlines, virgin forests, spacious prairies and Arctic tundra. While much of the nation is of British and French descent, Canada is home to a mosaic of multicultural communities. Here's an overview of the best places to visit in Canada.
Edmonton (/ˈɛdməntən/ (About this soundlisten)) is the capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta. Edmonton is on the North Saskatchewan River and is the centre of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, which is surrounded by Alberta's central region. The city anchors the north end of what Statistics Canada defines as the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor.
The city had a population of 932,546 in 2016, making it Alberta's second-largest city and Canada's fifth-largest municipality.Edmonton's 2019 municipal census subsequently recorded a population of 972,223. Also in 2016, Edmonton had a metropolitan population of 1,321,426, making it the sixth-largest census metropolitan area (CMA) in Canada. Edmonton is North America's northernmost metropolitan area with a population over one million. A resident of Edmonton is known as an Edmontonian.
Edmonton's historic growth has been facilitated through the absorption of five adjacent urban municipalities (Strathcona, North Edmonton, West Edmonton, Beverly and Jasper Place) in addition to a series of annexations through 1982, and the annexation of 8,260 ha (82.6 km2) of land from Leduc County and the City of Beaumont on January 1, 2019. Known as the Gateway to the North, the city is a staging point for large-scale oil sands projects occurring in northern Alberta and large-scale diamond mining operations in the Northwest Territories.
Edmonton is a cultural, governmental and educational centre. It hosts a year-round slate of festivals, reflected in the nickname Canada's Festival City. It is home to North America's largest mall, West Edmonton Mall (the world's largest mall from 1981 until 2004), and Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's largest living history museum.

Sacred Heart Church in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada
Sacred Heart Church - This 30' x 20' Church was built with donated labour in 1894 under Fr. Poitras' direction. Presently, it is the oldest standing church in Wetaskiwin. It first stood on the property south of 49th Avenue between 51st and 52nd Street. The church served as a school from 1901 to 1903. In 1913, the church was moved to 47th Avenue and 47th Street by Bethel Lutheran and was used until 1963. Ten years later, Henry Drinnan, who had bought it for duplex purposes, returned it to the Catholic Church as a gift. It was moved the following summer on July 23rd, 1974 to this location where many former Catholic parishioners have been buried. The Alberta Government officially designated it a Heritage Site on October 30th, 1975, thus ensuring its preservation for the benefit of future Albertans. Holy services are celebrated from time to time throughout the year. - Ft. E. Lynch, May 14, 1974.
