The Hiking Haven of Medvednik Mountain, Serbia I Best of Serbia

The mountains of Serbia are one of the
country's strongest assets ...
The most dominant of all the Valjevo mountains,
mountain of legends, blackberries, rivers and forest
trails for those addicted to walking through nature is Medvednik.
Medvednik (bear) is a mountain in western Serbia,
near the town of Valjevo. Its highest peak has an
elevation of 1,247meters above sea level.
Medvednik got its name from the fact that this mountain from the Valjeva
side is seen as a real bear's den, which is suitable for bears. Others claimed
that the name came from the large number of bears that were hunted
before, while the three were both cream cheese and lamb like honey, and
therefore the mountain got this name.
The slopes of Medvednik are overgrown with dense beech forest, and in some locations, pine trees appear. The mountain is rich in forest fruits such as: mushrooms, wild strawberries and medicinal herbs.

One of the roads leading to the mountain is:

Serbia is not a mass-tourism destination but nevertheless has a diverse range of touristic products. In 2018, total of over 3.4 million tourists were recorded in accommodations, of which half were foreign. Foreign exchange earnings from tourism were estimated at $1.5 billion.

Follow on Instagram:

Tourism is mainly focused on the mountains and spas of the country, which are mostly visited by domestic tourists, as well as Belgrade and, to a lesser degree, Novi Sad, which are preferred choices of foreign tourists (almost two-thirds of all foreign visits are made to these two cities).[ The most famous mountain resorts are Kopaonik, Stara Planina and Zlatibor. There are also many spas in Serbia, the biggest of which are Vrnjačka Banja, Soko Banja, and Banja Koviljača. City-break and conference tourism is developed in Belgrade and Novi Sad. Other touristic products that Serbia offer are natural wonders like Đavolja varoš, Christian pilgrimage to the many Orthodox monasteries across the country and the river cruising along the Danube. There are several internationally popular music festivals held in Serbia, such as EXIT (with 25–30,000 foreign visitors coming from 60 different countries) and the Guča trumpet festival.

Transylvania Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia | Halloween Special!

Transylvania – a place of spooky legends and mesmerizing sites. Discover the best places to visit and be swept up in the living fairytale of one of Europe’s most mysterious regions.

Check out all the places we visited in this video:

When ready, browse vacation packages to Transylvania:

#Transylvania has long occupied the darker recesses of human imagination. Its fog-draped mountains and medieval castles inspired gothic novelist Bram Stoker, which resulted in the creation of his greatest villain, Count Dracula. His famous literary work caused an influx of tourism into this time-forgotten part of the world.

However, travelers who #explore Transylvania’s stirring landscapes #discover more than just shadowy folklore. After enduring a long and bloody tug of war, Transylvania is now made up of a tapestry of cultures. Admire the shimmering Hungarian murals adorning the walls of the Targu Mures Cultural Palace. Roam among the crumbling ruins of Rasnov Fortress, where the Teutonic Knights defended against Turkish and Tartar invasion. And of course, wander the dark passageways and windswept ramparts of Bran Castle, Stoker’s inspiration for Dracula’s clifftop lair.

Whatever your pace, a #vacation to Transylvania will be sure to leave you completely captivated with this part of Eastern Europe.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

OMG, Deepest Gorge, TRAIN EPIC to BELGRADE Serbia | Must See!!

One of Europes most famous ,Top 10, train trips of all time, is from Bar Montenegro, to Belgrade Serbia. The is my EPIC travel vlog journey, taking a bus from Kotor Montenegro to the train station in Bar Montenegro. Taking the only night train available in the evening leaving at 7:30 pm. The cost was under $30 Euro for a seat in a room with a bunk bed of six per room. The trips lasts for about 11 hours. Passing some of the most scenic and deepest gorges in all of Europe. This railway line was finished in about 1976 and was Tito's pride to ride ,as he had his own train car for such an event. Truly an amazing trip, a bucket list event for any person!! Don't miss it. This is Part One of Two.

Golubac fortress - Golubacka tvrdjava - Serbia

The Golubac Fortress (Serbian: Голубачки град or Golubački grad, ) was a medieval fortified town on the south side of the Danube River, 4 km (2.5 mi) downstream from the modern-day town of Golubac, Serbia. According the recent discoveries, the fortress, which was built during the 14th century by Medieval Serbian state, is split into three compounds which were built in stages. It has ten towers, most of which started square, and several of which received many-sided reinforcements with the advent of firearms. Towers were not connected for easier defense. Also inside the fortress were found Serbian Medieval frescos.

Trg Slobode or Freedom square. Novi Sad City Center! - Novi Sad Serbia - ECTV

Eric Clar's Travel Videos - Novi Sad Serbia - Trg Slobode or Freedom square. Novi Sad City Center! Or Liberty Square.

From Wikipedia
Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia. It is architecturally (and, to an extent, culturally) different from other larger cities in central and south Serbia such as Belgrade and Niš, since it was not under the Ottoman influence but instead, that of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The buildings in the city centre resemble the ones in Vienna and Budapest.

Novi Sad is a university town, with more than 40,000 students attending the University of Novi Sad, which is on a beautiful green campus near the Danube. Because of the abundance of young people, Novi Sad has many bars, hipstery places, and is generally more open-minded than the rest of Serbia.

The people of Novi Sad are known to be relaxed and easy going, sometimes a bit too slow-paced for the other Serbians from the central and south of Serbia (their accent is one example of this).

Novi Sad is very flat (which makes it suitable for biking), with wide streets and lots of trees. For those who love hiking, there is a mountain, Fruška Gora, less than 15 km away, which is a national park featuring beautiful nature and many old monasteries.

Tourists that come to Novi Sad are usually impressed the most by Serbian cuisine, very low prices by Western standards, and by the hospitality of Serbian people. Many tourists come to Novi Sad for Exit Festival which takes place on the Petrovaradin fortress in early July.

The area of Novi Sad was inhabited since the distant past - the found remains of old settlements date back to the Neolithic period (5000 BCE). Before the middle ages, the region was inhabited by different tribes, including Celts, Romans, and Huns. Slavic tribes (including Serbs) settled the region around Novi Sad mainly in the 6th and 7th century. The region was under the medieval Kingdom of Hungary in the 11th and 12th century and afterwards under the Ottomans from 1526 until 1687, when Habsburg Monarchy took over the control.

The settlement was declared a free royal city” by the Habsburg empress Maria Theresa in 1748, and it gained its present names Novi Sad, Újvidék, and Neoplanta, meaning “new plantation” in Serbian, Hungarian, and Latin, respectively. For much of the 18th and 19th centuries, this was the largest Serb-inhabited city in the world, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the end of World War I in 1918, when it became part of Kingdom of Serbia. During World War II, it was under Hungarian occupation.

After the World War II, the city went through rapid industrialization and its population more than doubled in the period between World War II and the breakup of Yugoslavia after the fall of the Soviet Union. Devastated by NATO bombardment that lasted 78 days during the Kosovo War of 1999, Novi Sad was left without any of its three Danube bridges, and with significant damage to its infrastructure including communications, water, and electricity. Residential areas were cluster-bombed several times while its oil refinery was bombarded daily.

Novi Sad has mostly recovered from the 1990s and it has grown strongly since 2001, shifting its economy from industry-driven to the tertiary sector. It is home of the national headquarters of numerous banks, third largest insurance company in Serbia, and major energy companies. Novi Sad is also a growing information technology center in Serbia.

The fortress of Petrovaradin[25] on the right bank of the Danube. A fortress that no enemy has ever taken, it now contains a museum, Muzej Grada Novog Sada (Novi Sad City Museum) gathering all ancient objects of the region from the prehistorical era until today, large number of small art studios and living spaces of artists, underground military galleries - corridors, few clubs and few cafes and a delicatessen. It also has a small Observatory and Planetarium [26], open on Saturdays from 7PM-12PM. The observatory is open when skies are clear, while the Planetarium, which is near the Museum, is open every Saturday. The staff are young, fun and speak excellent English. The 5* hotel and three restaurants offer beautiful views of the Danube and of Novi Sad, and have recently been reopened, after extensive renovation and refurbishment works.
The Old town hall, right on the main city square called Trg Slobode
The Church of the great martyr St. George, Serb Orthodox church in Pašićeva street
The Church of Virgin's name, Catholic church in the center on Trg Slobode
Dvorac Dundjerski an old castle, wonderfully preserved, situated to the north of Novi Sad.
The Novi Sad Synagogue, a beautiful Synagogue in the center of the city, in Jevrejska street.

Subterranean rivers have created the Potpeće cave that was inhabited even during the Neolithic period. Its ornaments are very rare in karst caves.
If you believe that a horseshoe will bring you luck, than a visit to the Potpeće cave, a nature monument and the most significant cave site in Western Serbia, will be a true treat for you. The cave has a horseshoe shaped entrance that was carved into limestone by the force of water.
The Potpeće cave is located near the village of Potpeće, near the town of Užice, on the right bank of the Great Morava. The cave is near the highway, and yet hidden from hungry eyes of passers-by. It is one of five caves in Serbia that are prepared for tourist visits.
The entrance to the Potpeće cave is one of the biggest in the Balkans. It is over 50 meters high and 12 meters wide at the bottom and even 22 meters wide at the top, thus making it the true wonder of nature.
The explored section of the cave, with paths, is 555 m long, The path leading in and out of the cave has over 700 steps. It is interesting that this cave has no name. The name “Potpeće” actually comes from the name of the nearby eponymous village, that was, on the other hand, named after the cave – “the village beneath the cave”.
The Potpeće cave is an erosional cave, formed by the waters of subterranean rivers which descend underground in the Drežnik valley and follow an underground course to re-emerge from the cave or from springs in front of the cave, to create two kilometers long Petnica cave river. The cave comprises two levels of channels: the older – the Upper Cave and the more recent – the Lower Cave.
