SW Dominican Republic Road Trip - Barahona to Bahoruco - Part 2 of 10
Come along on our 5 day road trip to the southwest corner of the Dominican Republic. The team heads out of Barahona into the more mountainous area of Sierra de Bahoruco then back to the coast to continue south toward the most southwestern corner of the Dominican Republic. While there are plenty of rock roads suitable only for a 4WD vehicle,especially heading out through the National Park in Bahoruco, I think you will also agree that contrary to popular belief, most of the roads in the Dominican Republic are in terrific condition, rivaling those in America and Canada.
The Dominican Republic is a tropical paradise that offers all the adventure and exploration opportunities you could ever hope for. This is a few highlights from the first day of our 5 day adventure in the southwestern Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic Road Trip Across The Southeast Region 2015
Some of the crew heads out for a much needed road trip vacation into some of the off-the-beaten path sights in the Southeast region of the Dominican Republic. From our home base on the North Coast in the little village of Cabrera, we head down one of the most impressive mountain highways into a national park and then out into the outback on some of the little sandy roads in the region.
As you will see in the this videos and the other videos in this series, we pretty much fly by the seat of our pants never knowing exactly what we will see along the way. We love the sense of adventure of exploring new regions of this large island country and we never feel insecure. We find the local people to be friendly and accommodating and we can always count on them to get us back on track if we ever take the wrong turns.

Saona Island and Bayahibe - Wrapping Up Our 2015 Road Trip Of The Southeast Region Of The DR
Saona Island, just off the coast from Bayahibe Dominican Republic, is one of those perfect offshore day trips. The team heads offshore on a 2 hour excursion to Saona Island for a day of sand, sun and rum. While we prefer to live in the quieter village of Cabrera up on the Northcoast of the Dominican Republic, we also look forward to our road trips to discover other regions of this spacious island. Our little 2015 trip to Bayahibe and Saona Island were no exception. Great place to visit to soak up the vacation atmosphere in the DR.

After spending the night in Venice Beach, California, Louis Cole, myself, Paul, and Joram went to LAX to fly to the Dominican Republic with a layover in Miami. It was an adventure to rent a car from Santo Domingo because of the confusing way to get off the expressway, the speed bumps, and the half washed away dirt roads to get to our hotel, the Dominican Tree House Village. Once we got there, it was 1 in the morning so all the staff had gone to bed and it was very dark. So we had to talk to the security guard who didn't speak English. Eventually he got a manager to come help us.
