Olympia is the state capital of Washington, and it's is one of the most popular tourist draws in the Pacific Northwest. While Portland and Seattle might be bigger cities, and they certainly get most of the attention, they can't compete with the small-town college vibe that Olympia has going for it. It's a cultural hub that is a breeding ground for artists and musicians and has a culinary scene that is downright incredible.
Forget whatever you think you might know about Olympia because unless you've been there, you really can't real idea of what it's like. Even so, we'll do our best to describe its best features in this roughly 8-minute long video.
Olympia sits at the southern tip of the Puget Sound, where the Deschutes River meets saltwater and features the breathtakingly beautiful and majestic Mt. Rainier off in the distance, one of the most impressive mountains in the region.
The city is also historically significant. Because of this fact, it has some of the best landmarks in the entire state. There are many fun and thrilling attractions to visit that are well-suited for just about anyone regardless of their interests.
The Evergreen State College can be found in Olympia and its campus is worth visiting even if you have no plans on attending. Olympia has been endearingly nicknamed Oly by its inhabitants, and it's known for being a lively, diversified, and beautiful city.
Olympia has a lively waterfront district and a historically significant downtown. The weather is mild, and temperatures rarely ever fall below freezing even in the coldest winter months. Although if you do plan on visiting during this season, you might want to consider packing a rain jacket as it can get a little bit wet. But even on the rainiest days, you'll have plenty of indoor activities to choose from as Olympia is home to a number of museums, shopping centers, and top-tier restaurants.

Dining with Dinosaurs at Eastside Big Tom's | Olympia, WA
#eastsidebigtom #roadsideattraction #dinosaurs
Billed as the oldest burger drive through in Washington State (established 1948), Eastside Big Tom is an interesting location located in Olympia, WA. When driving by one notices a large array of various dinosaurs ( in a unique jungle setting) adjacent to the drive through.
These dinosaurs are quite detailed and include many of our favorite prehistoric animals. These include the infamous T-Rex, cunning velociraptor and the cute yet spiked triceratops. There is even a replica Jurassic park ride vehicle in the walk through attraction. These dinosaurs act as a terrific backdrop to the covered outdoor seating area.
As if amazing dinosaurs were not enough, there is also a superhero themed seating area that have a batman mural as well as activities for young kids. If you happen to park in the adjacent parking lot, you will be able to see a replica Scooby Doo Mystery Machine with a stuffed Scooby Doo in the passenger seat.
Now onto the food. This location is an old time drive through with a focus on great burger fries and shakes. There is a variety of burger choices and sides. To accompany the food they use a substance/sauce referred to as goop. This reminds me of a tarter sauce like dipping sauce. It has a good flavor and a great addition to any burger.
Although we did not try any , they have unique shakes as well on rotation. One was advertised as the bellicose badger and contains deep fried bacon and maple syrup. We also saw on the Big Tom Instagram that they once served a shake called the aggravated aardvark which contained pickle juice and peanut butter.
During our visit we ordered a variety of food items and they were all delicious. We even partook in some birthday cake flavored soft serve and it was tasty. Even if dinosaurs are not your thing, this location is a great place to get a quick bite to eat.
Visit Eastside Big Toms and leave a comment with your favorite food item and which dinosaur you liked the most! Thanks for checking out our video!

Avalanche in Enchanted Valley
In the Quinault Rainforest of Olympic National Park, the Enchanted Valley is the crown jewel of the region. Complete with a 3 story Chalet, the valley of 10,000 waterfalls should be every backpackers destination. As the weather warms up, the snow melts and causes huge avalanches every 10 to 20 minutes. Crashing down, rumbling like a jet flying overhead, seeing this makes the trip even better.
