The English Riviera is a series of picturesque, south-coast harbour towns and villages including Woolacombe, Mortehoe and Clovelly.

The South West Coast Path follows the coastline, taking in the towering cliffs of the northern Exmoor Coast and rock formations on the fossil-rich southern Jurassic Coast.

With so many beautiful villages and seaside resorts, this list was definitely not an easy one to put together!

Things to do in North Devon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 : Trip to Exmoor National Park, Hartland Quay, Clovelly

In this exciting video, I'll take you on a journey through the stunning landscapes of Exmoor National Park and the captivating North Devon area in England. Join me as we revisit my unforgettable road trip from March 2022.

Our adventure begins at the iconic Tarr Steps, an ancient bridge that stretches majestically across the river Barle, resembling an enormous centipede. Discover the intriguing local legend about how the devil himself was involved in its creation, and how the fearless parson changed the fate of the bridge forever.

Next, we'll embark on a hike up Dunkery Hill, reaching the summit of Dunkery Beacon, Somerset's highest point. I'll share my experience of tackling this ascent, and the breathtaking panoramic views that awaited us at the summit.

Our journey continues as we head to Pollock Weir, where the world's second-largest tidal range makes for a unique visit. Explore the dried-up harbor and vast expanse of grey, rounded rocks on Pollock Beach, all while navigating the steep slopes and narrow roads that lead to this hidden gem.

We then embark on a scenic drive to Hartland Quays, a place known for its spectacular cliffs and captivating rock formations. Witness the mesmerizing sunset that graced our evening and our decision to return the next morning to experience its beauty in broad daylight.

Discover the charm of Clovelly, a village with a twist—it charges admission for entry! Explore the rich history of this picturesque village, where donkeys and sledges once ruled the cobblestone streets. Immerse yourself in the old-world charm of its half-timbered houses, the serene chapel, and the 1930s fisherman's cottage.

Visit the Kingsley Museum and learn about Charles Kingsley, whose novel Westward Ho! put this region of the West Country on the map for travelers. Finally, descend to the enchanting harbour for a view that will leave you breathless.
