The largest city in South Africa and the provincial capital of Gauteng, Johannesburg, had its beginnings as a gold-mining community in the 19th century. Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu previously lived in the vast Soweto township. The Mandela House museum now stands where Mandela once lived. The gloomy Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill, a former prison complex, are two other Soweto museums that chronicle the fight to eliminate segregation.

Maboneng & Kwa Mai Mai. Things to do In Johannesburg | Places to go when you’re In Johannesburg
Hi explorers! Yesterday was one of those cold, chilly days here in Johannesburg but I had to go and explore Maboneng. It was lovely to walk on Fox Street, home to the pioneer development Arts on Main and an electric selection of bars, Cafes and restaurants. This is one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world (according to Forbes magazine). Maboneng is colourful and beautiful!
Just down the road, they is an old market called Kwa Mai Mai. This is one of the place where you can find South African local food at a reasonable price and the vibe was amazing .

River Trip - August 2017, Part 1
Throwback to the 'River Trip' with the Nissan Patrol 4x4 club. The dry riverbed route follows the Klein Letaba river in the dry season, situated in Limpopo province, near Giyani. It's a five day trip, and wild camping at it's best. There are no stops along the route, so you need to be self-sufficient for the entire five days.
This off-road trip was never intended to be uploaded as a video, but after some thought, I decided to upload two short parts. The videos show only a few highlights of the trip for those interested in doing it.

At least we got the chance to explore the mountains a little bit on our last day.

River Effra
The River Effra is a former set of streams in south London, England, culverted and used mainly for storm sewerage. It had been a tributary of the Thames. Diverted to Vauxhall in the 13th century, overflows reach two combined sewer overflows that will discharge into the Thames Tideway Tunnel on its completion in 2025.

This year we walked rivers both lost and running through hills (the Chelmer, the Chess, the Fleet, the Neckinger, Ingrebourne, the Cranbrook, the Lea and more), we learnt about the history of our local streets, I did my longest walk to date because I had a bad back and couldn’t sit down. Our walks also took us back through time into London's past and we saw the beginnings of its future. This video contains just a few of my walking highlights of the year.
I just want to say an enormous thank you for walking with me through this strangest of years, you’ve been amazing company, your comments on the videos have been an endless source of knowledge and lore and just to have you along has meant the world to me. With that I’d like to wish you the Happiest of New Years, and as ever … I look forward to seeing you on the next walk wherever that may be!
Take care and I’ll see you in 2021.

Maund Mela is a yearly fishing festival of Gharwal and its origin can be dated back to the pre-independence feudal era, initiated by the then Maharajah of Tehri. 'Maund' is a local term meaning the state of drunkenness or addiction.
Every year the local villagers gather at Aglar River, near Yamuna Bridge in Tehri district of Garhwal, Uttarakhand to celebrate the fishing festival.
