I flew into Ganja by transiting through London and Istanbul, before landing in Ganja, a city in Western Azerbaijan. Ganja itself was founded in the 6th AD and it was renamed Elisabethpol during the Russian Empire from 1804-1918. This is a 7-week solo traveling throughout the Caucasus region. This journey started in Azerbaijan, crossing the border into Georgia before finalizing my trip to Armenia.

ABOUT ME: In 2013, I started my solo travel journey, leaving Indonesia in 2016 to become a full-time traveller and YouTube creator. My background in International Relations has fueled a profound interest in exploring different countries. My content focuses on exploring different cultures through the lens of a solo female traveller, aiming to capture real-life interactions and experiences.
My travels kicked off with a five-month trip across Asia, after which I moved to China in January 2017 to work as an English teacher—my first time living abroad. I left China in 2018 to fully commit to creating videos on YouTube, where I share my travels and the cultures I encounter.
Living nomadically since 2016, I settled in England in early 2022 after marrying my British husband, David. Now based in the UK, I continue to travel and share my adventures on YouTube.
Finally, reached Ganja, the city of the Nezami Ganjavi, poet from the 12th century. After finding a place to park, we strolled around the city especially near the Şah Abbas Mosque also known as Juma Mosque of Ganja which was built around 1605. The city was rather empty despite the good weather. We met some locals around the mosque, one was a fan of a Çalıkuşu - an earlier TV Turkish series from the 80s. He was asking about Aydan Şener, the female artist who was playing one of the main characters in the series. You could see the happiness in his eyes as he remembered those days, it was a charm to see and meet him that day. Then, came the angry uncle and started bashing us for not being Turkish enough and questioning our visual appearance. Luckily it didn't take long but made us feel bad enough that we started to think of leaving the city and head to Sheki right away. Also not being able to find a good place to eat authentic Azeri food increased the disappointment about the city and then finally we settled down to eat Turkish Doner in a mall in Ganja and then hit the road to Sheki. While it wasn't a good start in Azerbaijan in Ganja, Sheki was waiting to embrace us and start loving the country and the people.
