Top 10 Places to Visit in Shanghai - China Travel Documentary
Shanghai is one of the most fascinating cities in China, and in this video I share my personal top 10 places to visit in this amazing city.
Few cities in the world evoke so much imagination as the largest city in China. Rich and glamorous on one corner, rough around the edges on another, Shanghai is truly one of the most fascinating places in the country. Located in the East of China, Shanghai should be high on any traveler’s list.
The video starts off on the Bund, a spectacular waterfront promenade located right in the center of the city. It provides a stunning contrast between historic colonial architecture and the awe-inspiring modern skyline of Pudong on the other side of the Huangpu river. Here, you can get some of the best views across the city. After Pudong, I take you to Nanjing street for some shopping, followed by a moment of calm in the rebuilt Jing’An Temple.
After walking through the People’s (central) park where I encounter a ‘marriage market’, we search for pockets of old Shanghai. These authentic neighborhoods are fast disappearing, as development of apartment towers and shopping malls takes over.
With enough time, it’s possible to plan a few day trips out of Shanghai. Some of my favorite ones are Suzhou, Zhujiajiao, and the impressive Yangshan Port (Shanghai's main container terminal, or harbor). Back in the city, we travel to the outskirts to visit a ‘bicycle graveyard’ and visit a few trade shows. Probably not your regular 'tourist attraction', but interesting places for those interested in doing business in China. The video finishes at the former Expo site, taking you back to one of the largest events ever held in China.

Top 10 Places to Visit in China - Travel Documentary
China is one of the most fascinating travel destinations in the world, and in this video I will share with you my personal top 10 best places to visit.
From the ruins of the Great Wall to vibrant megacities. From surreal mountain landscapes to charming riverside villages. Today’s China is a beautiful, complicated, and captivating place.
I spent more than 18 months in China, spread over the course of a decade and a half. In the last years, I started filming the places that I traveled to, using regular cameras and drones. All footage in this travel documentary is shot by myself between 2010 and 2019.
Here's a brief overview of the places in this video.
We start this journey in the stunning riverside village of Fenghuang in central China. The wooden stilt houses are a spectacular sight, and the backstreets are still filled with old world charm. We then continue to Harbin, best known for its Winter tourism. Millions of people usually flock here to visit the amazing Ice and Snow Festival, to admire beautiful sculptures and palaces.
Yangshuo is another spot not to miss, mostly for its mesmerizing mountain landscape of limestone peaks. It’s a great place to witness life in the countryside, and has a relaxed vibe. After Yangshuo we travel to Beijing, the nation’s capital city. The impressive Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven Park are two main highlights. And the nearby Great Wall of China is truly a sight to behold.
Zhangjiajie is the next destination on my list, and one of China’s most beautiful national parks. It formed the inspiration for the popular movie Avatar. You can get an aerial perspective from the many walkways, and don't miss out on the Glass Bridge here, if you dare at least. I continue my journey to Lhasa, the spiritual heartland of Tibet, and a place that left a deep impression on me. Take into a account that foreign travelers can only visit Tibet as part of a group tour.
Shanghai is a unique city with a jaw-dropping modern skyline, but also has some impressive historic architecture. It’s a busy place to visit, but also has many laidback neighborhoods and quiet streets. Yuanyang, on the other hand, is quintessential rural China, with an epic landscape of rice terraces. It’s a good place to meet some of the minorities living in the South of the country, and eat some local food.
I continue my travels in Qingdao, one of China’s most scenic coastal cities, located on the Yellow Sea. Many Chinese tourists come here to enjoy the beach and eat fresh seafood, but I was particularly impressed by the historic German buildings. I finish this journey in Hong Kong, easily one of my favorite cities in the world, and a perfect fusion between East and West.

8. Leshan Giant Buddha - Impressed with the crafted Buddha. The great Buddha statue.
9. Hani Terraces - The Cultural Landscape of Honghe Hani Rice Terraces has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage in the year 2013. Shocked and speechless in view of the monumental terraces
10. Pudong Skyline - Top Shanghai night club - pumping. Great place for a drink with friends and a wonderful view over the Bund and of Pudong. Prices are reasonable, Quality and Service is good.
11. Longmen Grottoes - Great place! Highly recommended for all the architecture lover out there.
12. Jiuzhaigou - Excellent natural beauty spot caused by karstic flow of water through a series of of lakes down the valleys. The park can get incredibly busy but is large enough to find a quiet spot.
13. West Lake - Best place to enjoy the evening and sunset.
14. Yungang Grottoes - A truly amazing place. Well worth the long walk.
15. Reed Flute Cave - Huge cave. Colorful lighting.
16. Hanging Monastery - Amazing hanging temples.
17. Yangtze River Cruise - Highly recommended to book your river cruise
18. Summer Palace - The scale of this historical monument is amazing.
19. Longji Terraces - It felt like being invited by local farmers to have a meal in their house.
20. Mogao Caves - If you seek adventure in China, this is a good example of a place where you can commence it.
21. Suzhou Gardens & Canals - This is a huge garden and classified as one of the unesco world heritage site.
22. Tiger Leaping Gorge - One of the greatest canyon in China.
23. Mount Tai - Awesome view.
24. Zhouzhuang - Pretty water town, worth a day trip from Suzhou
25. Wudang Mountains - Beautiful mountain with tons of history and beautiful overlooks.
26. Lijiang Old Town - Beautiful place with beautiful scenery.
27. Shilin Stone Forest - Awsome forest.
28. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - The park is enormous, has nice walking paths, and of course, the magnificent mountains.
29. Three Pagodas - Very nice huge temple. Lots of stair in the heat under the sun, there is a very nice view on the lake from the top !
30. Xi'an City Walls - The Xi'an great city wall, its great as it encircle the town.

Bagi temen2 yang suka wisata air dan camping,bisa mencoba berkunjung ke Daerah Bantul,Jogjakarta,disana ada salah satu tempat camping yang recomended banget lho, yaitu Potrobayan River Camp.
Potrobayan River Camp merupakan tempat camping yang keren dan masih alami,lokasi ini berada di pinggiran sungai dengan rumput yang hijau.
Tidak harus camping sih, temen2 juga bisa menikmati suasana dan pemandangan yg indah disini.
Temen2 akan dimanjakan dengan pemandangan alam yang indah dengan ditemani gemriciknya aliran sungai yang bersih.
Bagi Temen2 yang suka dengan alam bisa kok mencoba camping di sini,selain pemandangan alam yang indah temen2 juga akan melihat keindahan Sunset di sore hari,bagi yang ingin melihat keindahan sunrise juga bisa datang pagi pagi atau camping di Potrobayan River Camp ini.
Aliran air sungai ini tidak terlalu deras,sehingga aman untuk bermain air,tetapi temen2 harus tetap berhati hati,bagi temen2 yang suka mancing bisa juga mancing di aliran sungai ini,sungai Potrobayan ini merupakan pertemuan antara sungai Oyo dan sungai Opak,sehingga banyak sekali spot mancing di aliran air sungai ini.

Potrobayan River Camp ini berada di daerah Potrobayan,Srihardono,Kecamatan Pundong,Kabupaten Bantul,Kota Jogjakarta.
Lokasi Potrobayan River Camp ini tidak terlalu jauh dari pusat Kota Jogjakarta,karena jaraknya hanya sekitar 18 Km dengan waktu tempuh sekitar 40 menit perjalanan dengan kendaraan pribadi.
Jika dari pusat Kota Bantul lokasi camping Potrobayan ini cukup mudah untuk di temukan karena sangat dekat berjarak sekitar 11 Km dengan waktu tempuh sekitar 18 menit perjalanan dengan kendaraan pribadi.
Fasilitas Camping Di Potrobayan River Camp.
Berbicara tentang fasilitas yang ada di lokasi camping ini memang masih minim, hanya ada warung kecil di deket lokasi parkir oleh Sebab itu temen2 diharapkan untuk membawa bekal kebutuhan sendiri dari rumah.
Bagi yang ingi camping di sini bawalah perlengkapan pribadi dan kebutuhan,seperti makanan,minuman,penghangat badan seperti minyak,jaket dan lainnya.
Untuk fasilitas penting seperti toilet dan mushola sudah ada kok ,meskipun hanya sederhana,kedepannya pihak pengelola juga akan membangun fasilitas fasilitas penting lainnya.
Lokasi Potrobayan River Camp ini memang masih sangat alami belum banyak pembangunan,sehingga keasrian alam akan didapatkan di sana.
Tak heran jika lokasi camping ini juga sangat digemari anak kecil,banyak juga pengunjug yang datang hanya ingin nongkrong dan bermain mengajak anak anak untuk melakukan aktivitas di alam dan di aliran sungai,namun bagi anak anak harus tetap dalam pengawasan orang tua.
Potrobayan River Camping ini merupakan salah satu pilihan tempat camping di Bantul,Jogjakarta,meskipun banyak sekali tempat camping alam yang indah,namun lokasi ini berbeda dari lokasi camping lainnya.
Keindahan alam pada sore hari akan sangat terlihat keren dengan pancaran sinar matahari yang mulai tenggelam,sangat cocok untuk berfoto selfie.

GOA JEPANG PUNDONG PUNDONG BANTUL YOGYAKARTA
Secara administratif Gua Jepang terletak di dua kabupaten, yakni Kabupaten Bantul dan Kabupaten Gunungkidul. Jumlah Gua Jepang ada 20 buah, 16 buah (Gua Jepang 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17) berada di Dusun Ngreco dan Dusun Poyahan, Desa Seloharjo, Kecamatan Pundong, Kabupaten Bantul, dan 4 buah lainnya (Gua Jepang 1, 18, 19/KR, 20) berada di Kecamatan Purwosari, Kabupaten Gunungkidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
Tentara Jepang masuk ke wilayah Indonesia dengan tujuan membentuk hegemoni di wilayah Asia Timur Raya. Politik penguasaan yang dijalankan Jepang berdasar pada semboyan 3 A, yaitu Jepang Pemimpin Asia, Jepang Penguasa Asia, dan Jepang Cahaya Asia. Masuknya tentara Jepang ke Indonesia diawali dengan mendaratnya Jepang di Balikpapan pada tanggal 20 Januari 1942. Selanjutnya Jepang menduduki Pontianak, Martapura, dan Palembang. Di Jawa, Jepang pertama kali mendarat di Eretan pada tanggal 1 Maret 1942.
Jepang menduduki Yogyakarta pada tanggal 5 Maret 1942. Pada saat pendudukan inilah tentara Jepang banyak membangun daerah pertahanan, baik yang berada di pegunungan (Kaliurang), daerah pesisir (Parangtritis), dan juga daerah lainnya yang dianggap strategis (Lapangan terbang Maguwo dan sekitarnya). Di daerah pesisir Yogyakarta, fasilitas perlindungan dan pertahanan yang dibangun tentara Jepang berupa gua-gua, yang kini disebut Gua Jepang. Gua Jepang dibuat dari bahan dasar beton bertulang dengan pintu dari kayu.
Luas keseluruhan Gua Jepang sekitar 12 hektar. Gua dibangun dengan membuat lubang di dinding-dinding bukit dengan kedalaman lorong yang bervariasi. Ukuran pintu gua sekitar 1,5 m x 1,5 m. Ketebalan rata-rata dinding betonnya 30 – 60 cm.
Gua-gua yang dibangun di sekitar pantai dengan gua-gua yang dibangun di daerah pegunungan merupakan satu kesatuan strategi pertahanan yang saling terkait. Gua-gua yang ada di pegunungan antara satu dengan lainnya dihubungkan dengan fasilitas jalan-jalan berparit. Sebagaimana area militer pada umumnya, di tempat tersebut juga dilengkapi dengan lapangan untuk upacara atau keperluan-keperluan kemiliteran.
Tentara Jepang membangun gua-gua pertahanan dan perlindungan secara lengkap dalam rangka operasi pertahanan wilayah regional. Gua-gua tersebut dibuat di sekitar pantai, karena hal ini merupakan strategi untuk mengantisipasi kemungkinan adanya pendaratan tentara Sekutu di sepanjang pantai Laut Selatan.
Hingga pada 2018 ini renovasi demi renovasi dilakukan. Ada penambahan wahana berupa tempat area foto. Ada Puncak Khayangan, ada Puncak Mrangi, spot Kembang Sepatu dan spot foto Gua Jepang. Yang menjadi kelebihan Gua Jepang, karena berada di bukit yang langsung menghadap selatan. Jadi dapat melihat pemandangan semenanjung pantai dan area hijau pertanian serta udaranya sejuk banget...
Sebagai bangunan yang mempunyai arti penting bagi ilmu pengetahuan, sejarah, kebudayaan dan pendidikan, marilah kita jaga dan lestarikan warisan budaya ini untuk kita wariskan ke generasi berikutnya. Peristiwa masa lalu sebagai pembelajaran pada kita semua sebagai bekal kita menjemput masa depan Indonesia yang Gemilang dan Berkah.
