S1 – Ep 271 – Marydale and Draghoender – What an Incredible Visit to these Two Places!
Leaving Prieska and heading to Marydale we had no idea what was waiting for us. Driving through the tiny town was fantastic. So sad that the school burnt down and to see the abandoned Catholic Temple was shocking. It must have been a beautiful place where people used to worship. Then we took a short drive to the Draghoender Station and this visit touched my heart. To see the stunning station building and the incredible old hotel building falling apart the way they were was very sad to see. I can just imagine what it looked like back in the day. What an incredible visit this was to these two places! #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #marydale #draghoender #prieska

S1 – Ep 263 – Douglas – A Town at the Confluence of the Orange and Vaal Rivers!
It was once again one of those days where we only arrived at our overnight accommodation in Douglas late that evening because we got caught up at all our other stops throughout the day. The next morning we got an early start so we could see as much of Douglas as we could. It was raining on-and-off all morning, but that didn't slow us down one bit! We were very impressed with this town and found it very neat and organised. The highlight was our visit to the confluence of the Orange and Vaal Rivers. What a spectacle! This was amazing to see and a must-visit if you have not been there before. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #douglas #hopetown

N.Cape, Kalahari Region: SOUTH AFRICA TRAVEL
View the clip and go to to access the vided. This video takes you on a journey into an often forgotten corner of South Africa - The hauntingly beautiful Kalahari region of the Northern Cape. Experience the power of the mighty Orange River as it cuts across the dry, weathered landscape, plunging at one point to create one of the world's greatest spectacles - the Augrables Falls. Venture down the rapids or explore the many fascinating sites of historical and ecological interest that this region offers: the Eye of Kuruman - the largest natural spring in the Southern Hemisphere; the Raptor Rehabilitation Centre; the Robert Moffat Mission Station; The Anglo-Boer War fort at Prieska and the second largest national park in South Africa - The Kalahari Gemsbok. The ecological diversity and the fascinating patterns of survival of the abundant wildlife in this spectacular park draw countless visitors back year after year.

S1 – Ep 313 – Groot Mier – Captivated by the Tranquility of this Kalahari Community!
As we embarked on a slow drive through the village of Groot Mier in the Kalahari, we couldn't help but be captivated by the simplicity and tranquility of this community. The dusty streets we travelled on, gave us a glimpse into the daily lives of its residents. One of the remarkable discoveries we made during our exploration was an unnamed salt pan that seemed to possess an otherworldly beauty. Fascinated by its charm, we decided to christen it the Groot Mier pan. As we continued, we spotted the Primary School, which is still in use today although it shows that it’s no longer in use on Google maps. We also saw one modest church building and a tent being used for another standing as symbols of faith. It was a poignant reminder of the resilience and togetherness that bound this close-knit community, leaving an indelible impression on our hearts as we bid farewell to this hidden gem in the Kalahari. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #grootmier #kalahari

S1 – Ep 264 – Campbell – A Small Village on the Ghaap Plateau!
The drive we from Douglas to Campbell took us on a wet gravel road which was so rewarding! We saw springbok, ostriches and for the first time ever black impala! I never knew they even existed, they were absolutely beautiful. When arriving in this small village which is located on the Ghaap Plateau, we went directly to the old church built by Reverend John Bartlett in 1831. It was so amazing, to think David Livingstone even preached at this church. We drove through the little settlement and found it to be a treasure trove of interesting information. Another church, built in 1943, was a striking reminder of the mission station history of this settlement. What a fantastic visit this was to Campbell! #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #campbell

S1 – Ep 275 – Keimoes – So much Green Vegetation and Blue Skies!
The first thing we saw as we entered Keimoes was green vegetation and springboks grazing on the grass. The green was complemented by the bright blue skies and the warm weather we experienced. The town was very busy on this day but we were told it was the end of the picking season so all the contract workers were paid and were doing their shopping before making their way home. Driving through Keimoes was awesome. We decided to drive up Tierberg and the view of the surrounding farmland from up there was spectacular. We almost had to spend the night in the church grounds because the automated gate was open when we entered, but closed when we wanted to leave. Fortunately the minister opened for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Keimoes. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #keimoes

S1 – Ep 238 – Pella – A Spectacular Cathedral in this Namaqualand Town!
I have said this so many times about so many of the towns we have visited but Pella touched me very deeply. The way the town was started and how two brave and dedicated priests stuck it out in this harsh Namaqualand area really struck a chord with me. The fact that they persisted and built a spectacular Cathedral with their own two hands with no building knowledge is truly impressive and shows their dedication. The amazing plantations with thousands of date palms all around is testament to their work. The church still benefits from the sale of the dates. I think this area is absolutely beautiful with its rugged mountains, the abundance of underground water and of course the friendly people who live there. This place should be on everyone’s bucket list. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #pella #northerncape #namaqualand #datepalm
