Bangkok 25 THB to cross the Chao Phraya River with car to Phra Pradaeng and Bang Nam Phueng

BANGKOK. 25 THB TO CROSS THE CHAO PHRAYA RIVER WITH CAR TO PHRA PRADAENG AND BANG NAM PHUENG

Drive down to the car ferry terminal in Samut Prakan and cross the Chao Phraya River for only 25 THB saves a lot of driving and much quicker.

From the other side of the river it is only approx 4 kms to Bang Nam Phueng floating market .....which is one of the biggest in the Bangkok area.

This is truly a gem of a market. It’s a local attraction and enjoys favorability with weekender Thai couples, families and small groups visiting. The number of Western tourists is demonstrably small giving it an atmosphere of “authenticity”.

It has the usual variety of booths selling fresh produce, plants and myriad opportunities to purchase fried and grilled food. It also has many unique booths. One can find Siamese fighting fish for sale,
unusual retail items and there is a sling shot competition area in which competitors can fire their seeds/stones at strings of soup cans that have been hung up as targets.

Great morning out shopping and looking what the market has to offer

Phra Pradaeng Arcade Market

The markets in Thailand are quite colorful, they sell all sorts of things, go for the sake of interest. But mostly it is fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and seafood.

Рынки в Таиланде довольно колоритны, на них продается всякая всячина, сходите ради интересса. Но в основном - это фрукты, овощи, мясо, рыба и морепродукты.

Central Thailand: Samut Prakan (West)

#Thailand #Bangkok #travel

Samut Prakan lies to the south of Bangkok and straddles both sides of the Chao Phraya River where it flows into the Gulf of Thailand. Thus the province is also sometimes called Pak Nam, Thai for 'mouth of river'. In this video I explore the sights on the western side of the river that include a very tranquil park, the town of Phra Pradaeng, a chedi that appears on the provincial seal, not one but two forts (with a climb onboard a Japanese-built frigate at one of them) and a coastal temple.

Bang Krachao - Samut Prakan, Thailand ᴴᴰ ● บางกระเจ้า⎮Thailand Travel Vlog

► Join my 1-day trip appetizer of Bangkok's hidden jungle oasis, Bang Krachao, AKA Bangkoks green lung. It's located in the Samut Prakan province, a 45 minutes drive out of central Bangkok.

It offers lots of hiking & biking trails, as well as a small floating market, eateries & cafe's, including The Ozone Cafe (also featured in this video). It's a great place to go green, and spend a relaxing time away from the urban jungle of central Bangkok. - Enjoy the views!

Phra Samut Chedi BANGKOK'S Lady Liberty 🇹🇭 Thailand

At the entrance to the Chao Praya River at Samut Prakan you will find the Phra Samut Chedi. This was the first structure any traveler to Thailand would see when they arrived at the port of Bangkok and on their way to Ayutthaya. Hence the Lady Liberty of Thailand.

Anna Leonowens known from the novel Anna and the King of Siam called it one of the finest structures in Siam. If you take the BTS to Pak Nam BTS station, it is quite easy to cross towards the Chedi.

The Phra Pradaeng Cross River Ferry

This is a movie of a ride on the Phra Pradaeng cross river ferry. Filmed as it travels from Phra Pradaeng to Samrong Tai. The ride takes 2 to 3 mins depending on how fast the driver goes. It costs 3 baht per person to cross. This film also gives a good view of the riverside and the new bridge.

Chulachomklao Fort, HTMS Mae Klong, Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. ( 10 )

The first part of the journey was from Bangkok, to this Fort. However the taxi driver took the wrong turning on the way there and we ended up in Samut Prakan town before finding our way to Chulachomklao fort.
The journey to Phra Chulachomklao Fort is a historical attraction of Samut Prakan Province (29 km south of Bangkok). It is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River on Suksawat Road. The fort is worth visiting as you will get to know another aspect of Thailand besides its cultural and architectural facets. The Naval History Park at Chulachomklao Fortress is situated at the mouth of Chao Phraya River, Tambon Laem Fa Pha. The fortress' compound houses a magnificent standing monument of King Rama V, which is located in the front of the fortress. Chulachomklao Fortress is a modern fort and has played an important role in protecting the sovereignty of Thailand during 1893 against unfriendly forces. During King Rama Vs reign, there was a period during which England and France were hunting for colonies. All neighbouring countries around Thailand were colonised by England and France. The king commanded that the fortresses at the rivers mouth be renovated and re-equipped, and also hired a foreigner who was a naval specialist as a consultant for planning the development of the Thai navy.
The seven Armstrong guns only saw action that one time. However, they are still in good working order as they fired a seven gun salute to celebrate their 105 th anniversary in 1998. The fort is now open to the public. Below a statue of King Rama V there is an interesting museum about the conflict with France. Also on show to the public is HTMS Maeklong, a warship commissioned from the Japanese shipyards, pre-World War II. The ship was in service for 60 years, including duty as a royal ship for King Rama IX. There is a gun park showing the history of guns and also an interesting mangrove forest walk.
HTMS Mae Klong
Under the statue, there stands an air-conditioned museum exhibiting the military conflict with France. Also on display is the HTMS Mae Klong, an old warship of the Royal Thai Navy preserved as an open-air museum. HTMS Mae Klong was commissioned in 1937. She had been deployed in several missions such as taking part in World War II. The ship also served as a training ship for naval cadets and technical navy students.

She was in service for 59 years, including the prestigious duty as a royal ship for King Rama VIII and King Rama IX ( His Majesty King Bhumibol, the present King ). The ship was decommissioned in 1996

Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า) - Bangkok Bike Tour of Phra Pradaeng (and Lunch)

A Bangkok bike tour of Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า) in Phra Pradaeng (พระประแดง) makes an excellent day trip. Read more of my Bangkok travel tips here:

Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า), or the larger area of Phra Pradaeng (พระประแดง), is known as Bangkok's green lunch. It's not an island, but it's a section of land that's separated from major Bangkok by being within a horseshoe in the river. The piece of land is just across the river from Bangkok city, but it's such a world of difference. Characterized by trees, green spaces, low homes and neighborhoods, and a network of canals and elevated walking paths creates the perfect environment for a Bangkok bike tour. The first step getting to Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า) is to first take a taxi to Wat Khlong Toei Nok temple, located in the Khlong Toei area of Bangkok and right along the Chao Phraya river. For just 10 baht you can then board a small boat that will ferry you across the Chao Phraya to Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า), a whole new world. The ride takes just a few minutes.

Once you've arrived to Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า), you can then rent a bicycle as soon as you get off the boat. The bikes for rent cost 50 Thai Baht per hour or 100 Thai Baht per day - I think it's worth it to go for the whole day - and you might end up staying longer than you expected - so go for the day rental! After getting out trusty bicycles ready, we started off following the road enroute to the main park that's located within Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า). It took just about 10 minutes or less to reach the designated park where you can enter and ride and walk around for free. The park is nicely maintained and there's a large lake in the middle. But the park is not the only place to ride in Phra Pradaeng (พระประแดง). One of my favorite parts of the area is riding along the elevated concrete paths. They are raised above the ground as the ground can be muddy and flooded, but the paths provide an awesome form of transportation. They are just wide enough to have a Bangkok bike tour on them comfortably. Another interesting aspect of biking around are the many temples which are all around. You can stop off at a variety of temples when you're biking along. Also, if you go to Phra Pradaeng (พระประแดง) on the weekend, you can bike to Bang Nam Pheung (ตลาดน้ำบางน้ำผึ้ง) floating market ( After biking around for a few hours we decided to stop at a relaxing restaurant for some Thai food lunch. There are many Thai restaurants to eat at throughout Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า) when you're taking a Bangkok bike tour - you'll have no problem finding food or drinks.

A Bangkok bike tour of Bang Krachao (บางกระเจ้า) and Phra Pradaeng (พระประแดง) is one of the best things to do in Bangkok! It's a great affordable attraction and offers not only some exercise from all the Thai street food, but also a time to relax and enjoy nature.

Phra Padaeng - Bang Nam Phueng

Bang Nam Phueng is located just on the south of Bangkok, on the other side of the river in what is often called the lung of Bangkok (Phra Padaeng).

In this trip I am bringing you early morning to a quick visit of the floating market in there and small roads and park ideal for bicycles.

Before reaching the market, we will also cross the Bhumibol bridge and cross a street market. Note there is also a large number of monks in the streets in the morning. You may notice many thais donating some foods to the monks (often helped by a young assistant) that will provide their blessing in exchange.
