KOH SAMUI, THAILAND (2023) | 10 Incredible Things To Do In & Around Koh Samui

Koh Samui is located in the southern Gulf of Thailand. It’s the largest island of the Samui Archipelago and the second-largest in the country. In this video, we’ll highlight 10 top things to do in Koh Samui.

10. Relax at the beaches
Our favorite beach in Koh Samui was Lamai, which is more relaxing than Chaweng but still has lots of tourist facilities and entertainment around.

9. Discover the Secret Buddha Garden (Tarnim Magic Garden)
Hidden high up in the hills in Koh Samui’s center, this garden is filled with unique statues and structures amid lush jungle surroundings.

8. Visit the Na Muang waterfalls
The Na Muang 1 waterfall is close to the parking lot and easily accessible on foot, while Na Muang 2 requires a short steep hike if you want to get closer to the falls.

☑️ Book half-day jeep tour to waterfalls & secret garden:

7. See Koh Samui’s most mysterious rocks
At Lamai Beach, you can find two distinctive rock formations. Discovered by locals many years ago, these rocks were described as Grandpa (Hin Ta) and Grandma (Hin Yai).

6. Go island hopping to Koh Phangan or Koh Tao
Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are the sister islands of Koh Samui, and you can easily visit them on a boat tour. While Koh Tao is a great place for diving and snorkeling, Koh Phangan is home to pristine beaches and the famous Full Moon Party.

☑️ Koh Phangan Day Tour:
☑️ Koh Tao Day Tour:

5. Eat and Shop at Bophut Fisherman's Village
Located at the north coast of Koh Samui, Bophut Fisherman’s Village is a beautiful walking street filled with cafés, boutique shops, and restaurants.

4. Watch a Muay Thai Boxing Match
Koh Samui offers Muay Thai boxing matches on almost every day of the week and the most popular place to watch them is the Samui International Muay Thai Stadium in Chaweng.

3. Explore the colorful temples
Some of the most beautiful temples include Wat Ratchathammaram in Lamai, Wat Plai Laem, and the Big Buddha Temple.

2. Go on a boat tour to Ang Thong Marine Park
A must-do day trip from Koh Samui is Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago made of 42 small islands. It’s possible to do this by speedboat or larger boat tour.

☑️ Book a speedboat boat tour to Ang Thong Marine Park:

1.Eat street food at the night market
The Friday Night Market in Bophut Fisherman’s Village runs from 5 PM until 11 PM. There is also live music at the central bar area to keep you entertained.

KOH PHANGAN, THAILAND (2023) | 10 Incredible Things To Do In & Around Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan Top 10:

10. Relax At The Beaches
With over 30 beaches to choose from, Koh Phangan has something for everyone. Haad Rin is by far the most popular beach among backpackers. But families and couples are more attracted to the eastern tranquil beaches like Nai Pan Beach. Our personal favorite beaches were located in the north of the island, as it’s the best of both worlds (Chaloklum Beach and Malibu Beach).

9. Watch The Sunset
Koh Phangan’s calm and shallow waters make for some of the best sunsets in all of Thailand. Along the west coast, you’ll find many beach bars and rooftop bars that offer some spectacular views. Our favorite sunset spot was Hin Kong Beach.

8. Visit Panthip Night Market
The Panthip Night Market in the heart of Thong Sala is the place to eat authentic Thai food. It is open every evening from 5 to 10 PM and has some of the best street food on the island. On Saturdays, it is moved directly in front of the pier and becomes even bigger and more lively.

7. Enjoy Scenery From Haad Rin Viewpoint
The climb to the top of the rock only takes about 15 minutes and the view of the beaches is impressive.

☑️ Haad Rin Viewpoint:

6. Walk The Sandbar To Koh Ma
Mae Haad beach is located in the northwest of Koh Phangan and is one of the best beaches you can visit on the island. At low tide, a sandbar reveals and connects the beach to Koh Ma, which is a tiny island.

5. Day Tour To Ang Thong Marine Park
Located off the coast of Koh Phangan, Ang Thong Marine National Park is a beautiful nature reserve composed of 42 small, rugged islands. It’s a popular day trip destination by speedboat. There are several stops where you can hike to the famous Emerald Lake, go kayaking around the islands, and enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing on the pristine beaches.

☑️ Book Day Tour

4. Chase Some Waterfalls
The most popular one is the Phaeng Waterfall, which is part of the Than Sadet National Park and lies a few kilometers north of Thong Sala. The best time to visit is during the rainy season, when they carry lots of water and you can swim in the natural swimming pools. Make sure to do the short, but steep hike up to the Dom Sila viewpoint for great views.

☑️ Dom Sila hiking trail:

3. Experience The Full Moon Party
Every month on the night of the full moon, the legendary Full Moon Festival takes place on Haad Rin Nok Beach. You can expect live DJs with booming music, fire shows, dancing, fluorescent painting, and lots of drinks!

2. Rent A Jet Ski Or Kayak
Many of the island’s beaches have kayak and jet ski rentals available. And if you’re looking for something more challenging, Koh Phangan is also a good spot for kitesurfing, with a few schools offering courses.

1. Visit A Few Temples
Koh Phangan has more than 20 different temples scattered across the island. Some of the most interesting ones include Wat Phu Khao Noi and Wat Khao Tham.

3 Must See Temples-Bangkok, Thailand

How do you figure out which temples to see in Bangkok when there are over 400 of them? Here are the top 3 that should be on anyone’s list. I’ll explore more in another episode but here’s where to start. This may be enough for your first trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

Let’s start the tour!

Number 3, Wat Arun.
Even though it’s name means temple of dawn this is a wonderful site best enjoyed at sunset. Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, some consider it the most beautiful temple in Thailand. It’s prang or spire on the banks of the river is a world-class landmark. At the time of my visit, Wat Arun was undergoing major renovations as you can see by the scaffolding.
Wat Arun held the great Emerald Buddha before it was transferred to Wat Phra Kaew at the Grand Palace. In fact the temple was part of the grounds of the royal palace where it was located before it was moved in 1785.

Wat Arun glistens in the golden hour at sunset. It’s intricate craftmanship of tiny pieces of glass and Chinese porcelain artfully placed on the prang and other structures is an unforgettable site. You can get to Wat Arun via Tha Tien Pier also called Pier 8 right after you visit the number 2 temple.

Wat Pho, home of the reclining Buddha. This temple complex is perfect for just wandering as most people will show up, check out the 46 meter long Buddha and immediately leave. You’ll have lots of space to enjoy the atmosphere of a world-class heritage site and the largest collection of Buddha statues in Thailand.

Wat Pho was the first public university in the country and is also home to the top massage school. This is where you can experience a more therapeutic rather than soothing massage. Book ahead otherwise you may have a long wait which can eat into precious exploring time.

Of course you also want to savour the presence of this incredible reclining Buddha that’s covered in gold leaf. This image is the Buddha entering Nirvana thus ending reincarnations. The statue is 46 meters long and 15 meters high with the soles of the feet at 3 meters height and inlaid with mother of pearl.

There are 108 bronze bowls in the corridor representing the 108 auspicious characters of the Buddha. You can purchase a bowl of coins you can use to drop in the bowls for good fortune, which also aids the monks in preserving the reclining Buddha and Wat Pho. The sound the coins make when dropping is pretty cool in the giant hall.

Wat Pho is within walking distance of the number one temple to visit in Bangkok, Wat Phra Kaew or the temple of the Emerald Buddha, located within the Grand Palace complex. Because Wat Phra Kaew doesn’t house any monks it is more like a personal chapel for the royal family than an actual temple.

The emerald Buddha is considered the palladium of the Kingdom of Thailand. It is made of a single block of jade and is 66 centimeters or 26 inches high, cloaked in three different gold costumes appropriate for the three seasons, wet and hot, and winter, the cool season. No photographs or video are allowed inside the chapel but you can spend as much time as you like enjoying the Buddha and interior of the structure.
This is the spiritual heart of Thailand and the top tourist attraction of Bangkok with thousands of visitors daily. There is a dress code and you will be stopped by officials if your clothing is deemed inappropriate. I’ll leave a link in the video description for your reference. In fact most if not all Buddhist temples in Thailand have specific requirements for appropriate clothing.

The Grand Palace is crowded and most of the time, an extremely hot place with no air conditioning so pace yourself. To avoid some of the bigger crowds it’s best to start as early as possible, the complex opens at 8:30 everyday.

Conceivably you could see all top 3 temples in one day. Starting out at The Grand Palace, then stopping for a coffee or tea beak in a cool cafe around Tha Thien or Pier 8, which is close by Wat Pho and the reclining Buddha. Then visiting Wat Pho before a leisurely lunch around Tha Tien. Then finishing off your tour with a river crossing to Wat Arun in the late afternoon and perhaps enjoying the sunset from one of the best spots in the city.

Thailand - Ayutthaya - Wat Phu Khao Thong - stunning amazing ancient temple in thailand

Ayutthaya is an ancient capital and modern city of Thailand, 85 km north of Bangkok.

In this video you will find a very beautiful and ancient temple complex in Ayutthaya. Really exciting and impressive.

------------------------- Playlist Ayutthaya -------------------------

You can find more videos about the beautiful ancient temples in Ayutthaya, Thailand here on my channel:

The Monastery of the Golden Mount - Wat Phu Khao Thong Temple - Ayutthaya Thailand

The Wat Phu Khao Thong or Golden Mountain Temple was built in 1387. The original Mon-style chedi built by King Hongsawadi of Burma to commemorate his victory in Ayutthaya in 1569 was destroyed. The restoration started in the reign of King Boromakot and included the building of a Thai-style chedi on the old chedi base by King Naresuan in 1584. This chedi is about 80 metres high with a 2 kilogram gold ball at the top. There is a Buddha footprint from Saraburi. This temple is not far from the old city, about 2 kilometers away near the King Naresuan the Great Monument.

It is well worth a visit to see the amazing Chedi as well as the historic temple grounds that are still active with monks to this day.

If you want to read more about this Chedi and temple here is a great site with a lot of information about it.
