The Most Dutch City... in America? Pella, Iowa?
Pella, Iowa is possibly the most Dutch city you can find in the world outside of the Netherlands. With windmills, bitterballen, tulip festivals, and incredible bakeries you can feel a bit of Holland in the heart of the USA. From Jaarsma Bakery and their Dutch letters to the Dutch architecture you would swear that the stairs would need to be ladders.

Pella, Iowa provides visitors with a taste of Amsterdam in the heart of Iowa. It has a Dutch canal, one of the tallest working windmills, and some top-notch bakeries, among other nods to the homeland.
Immigrants from The Netherlands founded the city in the mid-1800s. It was virgin prairie land at the time. It now has a population of around 10,000.
Pella hosts a three-day festival each May called, Pella Tulip Time. The city is home to Pella Corporation, known for the luxury doors and windows it designs and manufactures.
