Pabna is a city of Pabna District, Bangladesh and the administrative capital of the eponymous Pabna District. It is on the north bank of the Padma River.
Pabna Municipality comprises a mayor and 15 councillors and 5 female councillors. Each councillor represents a ward of the town. All of them are elected by people's vote.
Pabna has a humid subtropical or tropical savanna climate. It has long hot summer and long hot and humid rainy season. It receives moderate amount of rainfall. In front of this palatial building, there are four pillars on each side of the entrance arch and a huge semi-circular arch in the middle. The historian Radharaman Saha claims that Pabna is named after the Himalayan Paboni, a branch of the Ganges.
The name is derived from Poth, a totemic group that once inhabited this area (Poundrabardhan), according to archeologist Cunningham. A Mouza (medium-sized village) called Padeh Pabna is shown on a survey map from 10 in the Nazirpur Pargana (a pargana is a group of villages).
According to author and historian Haraprasad Shastri, the name Pabna comes from Podubomba, a small feudal kingdom founded during the Pal Dynasty by a king named Shom.
The ancient map that shows the village of Pabna was used by historian Durgadas Lahiri in his book Prithibir Itihash.

Pabna tourist spots are Jor Bangla Mandir Edward College, Hardinge Bridge and more. It is in north-western of Bangladesh. The district is under Rajshahi Division. It was established in 1832.
Pabna District Information
The name Pabna might be derived from Pundra or Poondrobordhon civilization. There is a 450-bed mental hospital, second oldest in Indian Subcontinent. Ishwardi is one of the important railway junctions of the North Bengal as well as in Bangladesh. District’s town consists of fifteen (15) wards and thirty-four (34) Mahallas. It has an area of 18.64 square kilometers. District was established in 1832. The district consists of eight (8) municipalities, 81 wards, 191 mahallas, nine (9) Upazilas, 72 union Parishad, 1321 Mouzas and 1540 villages.

Pabna, located in north-eastern Bangladesh, district is an interesting mix of Hindu temples, British-era palaces, natural wetlands and criss-crossing rivers, complete with century-old bridges.& is home to most of the archaeological structures. Once the present area of the Pabna district was a part of the ancient Pundravardhana established in 1832 the contours of the district has been changed many times. Pabna (Bengali: পাবনা) is a city of Pabna District, Bangladesh and the administrative capital of the eponymous Pabna District. It is on the north bank of the Padma River and has a population of about 300,109.
According to the historian Radharaman Saha, Pabna is named after Paboni, a branch of the Ganges (Originated from Himalayan).
