Nigeria Lagos to Port Harcourt Travel Vlog Day 51 in Africa 🌍Friendly and Angry Police Checkpoints!
Welcome to Day 51 in Africa, we are in Nigeria, LAGOS CITY! It's time to say goodbye to the most populated city in Africa of 30 million people and we have to continue our way southeast to Cameroon!
Dayo last night warned us to be ready and leave before 06:00 AM otherwise we will encounter heavy crazy Lagos morning traffic, as the reception was kind of slow in White Chase Hotel we already were late on departure for 20 minutes!
❤️ Thanks to Dayo and Lara for hosting us in Lagos and covering our stay at White Chase Hotel and taking care of us during these days! ❤️
Everything packed on the bike, we are ready to leave, Dan is rushing through the small traffic and is trying to escape Lagos City ASAP as we notice stalling cars more and more like crazy!
On the way out of the city we noticed the upcoming traffic coming into Lagos City it was more than 5km near complete standstill of cars covering all 3/4 lanes , pollution of smoke everywhere, burning tyres, the mess, it's sad what we see driving out of Lagos, a huge problem to solve for the future, otherwise it's sad how people are living in these conditions around!
As soon as leaving Lagos, we start encountering checkpoints, some in the start let us pass, some just asked to stop and ask How Faaar Ogar which means - How are you Boss!
- I love the way most Nigerians speak. - They speak differently from state to state / one side of Nigeria to another - but my most favourite and most know is English Pigeon language which is my most interesting to learn !
Most of the checkpoints were friendly and nice to us, they just wanted to stop, chat, have some smiles and a SNAP ( lets take a photo was their favourite, but they were always shy and never allowed us to take pics with them otherwise their bosses would fire them or send them to the swamp with mosquitos and real danger.
And some couple checkpoints were really angry and demanding as they saw us like just objects or free money to squeeze out by demanding full search of bags, papers and wasting lots of time which we did not have as Calabar from Lagos is more than 800km! And we honestly got stopped by more than 30-40 checkpoints only the way till PORT HARCOUT which was 600km!
Besides the fast riding and police checkpoints, about 150km before Port Harcourt we noticed bad weather far ahead coming up so we decided to quickly stop for a quick snack at fast food chicken bistro and got directly back on the road were we got hit by a HUGE STORM ahead, we got completely soaked and searching for a petrol station to stop and hide which we finally did after 20 minutes riding in heavy heavy rain!
While waiting for the storm to calm down, we already understood we will not make Calabar today, so we started looking cheap options to stay overnight in Port Harcourt and also let know Dayo and other Nigerian Bikers our change of plan and route!
Meanwhile we suddenly got a message from a Nigerian biker from Port Harcourt - Eddy! ❤️ He asked us where we at and where we planning to stay, we told him we had nothing organized so he dropped us his live location and told me to drive towards him, so as we shared to location we met up on the way in Port Harcourt where surprisingly it looks like it barely had a small shower of rain here!
We see Eddy! Met up and had a quick ride together to Skylyte Boutique Hotel where all the Hard Ridarz hangout and chill! Which is also owned by the president of the Club!! ❤️
Somehow Go pro has lost more of our footage, and it kept happening in previous episodes, and also now, and sad warning for future episodes we also noticed some missing footage which is very sad lost memories sooner or later....
After arriving in at the hotel, we were very tired , so we unpacked everything, i went ,quickly shower and afterwards passed out, meanwhile Daniel went downstairs to the pool and bar area and hanged out with other members for the club and later escaped out to a club everyone for a Reggae night out! Daniel said it was epic and cool, so many people , in all ages, ONE LOVE
Dan came back to the hotel at 03;00 so 3 hours to sleep for tomorrow!
