What you can get with $10 in Mexico's markets! (San Cristobal de las Casas Market Travel Vlog)

Visiting the markets in Mexico has been one of our favorite things to do in every city that we have visited thus far!
The colorful crafts, delicious foods, and all of the people make Mexico's markets a must-do! We went to one of San Cristóbal de las Casas most popular markets, Mercado de Santo Domingo, with only $10 USD (or 200 mxn pesos). Check out what all we were able to buy!

After spending close to 3 months in the Yucatan Peninsula, we decided to venture out and explore more of Mexico. We checked out Campeche and then went to the beautiful Chiapas state. Where we've seen Palenque, San Cristobal, and many, many beautiful natural wonders. We can't wait to show you guys more!

We've just spent Holy Week here in San Cristobal and that was an amazing experience. We love this city and don't yet know when we're going to leave but we also can't wait to explore more of the beautiful country of Mexico!

We hope you enjoyed this video and would love to hear from you. Feel free to comment and subscribe for more. Gracias amigos! :)

You can take this video as a guide but please be aware to take some precaution and do your own research about road conditions / road blocks etc. before you go. Please make sure to avoid driving at night and plan your travel schedule accordingly!

Bringing Jungle back to Mexico (Silvopastoral systems in Chiapas)

During my visit to Chiapas Mexico, I got into contact with an organization called FONCET (Fondo de Conservació El Triunfo A.C.) who were busy with a pilot program to rewild the cattle farms by means of silvopastoral systems. With this system in place, they want to introduce the production of cacao to the cattle farmers. This system would bring back biodiversity to the agricultural frontier in Chiapas, which once existed of a lot more dense jungle and forest areas. For this video, I went on a 2-day research trip with them to see how this would work.

The most DANGEROUS road in Mexico 🇲🇽

Deep in the jungles of Chiapas we take one of the most dangerous roads in Mexico - The road between Palenque and San Cristobal de las Casas, over Ocosingo. Infamous for its roadblocks and robberies we take it after dark (escorted by heavily armed police and soldiers), just because we wanted to visit some waterfalls (Misol-ha and Agua Azul).

Tonina Ruins | Archaeological Site | English | Subtitles | Mayan Ruins | Ocosingo | Chiapas | Mexico

In this vlog I am exploring the Mayan Ruins (Maya city) of Tonina. This area is just outside of the city of Ocosingo in Chiapas, Mexico. This location is close to Palenque (where I just came from) and San Cristobal (where I am heading)

I had a guide forcefully take me around and show me the sights and told me about the history. He had some good information, but I do prefer to go alone. It took a long time to go and explore these areas, and some of the spots were awesome.

This was a wonderful archaeological site that offered wonderful views once you made it to the top of the palace.

El Podcast de Primer Plano Magazine:

MEXICOS most HIDDEN and UNKNOWN Maya Temples. See for yourself if they are worth a visit!

This video contains several Maya sites & some waterfalls along the way. See for yourself if you think visiting these Maya sites are worth it!

In this video you see the following Maya sites:
1. Tonina. This site has the highest maya temple in the world, but much of the temple and area has not been excavated yet. When we visited, we weren't allowed to walk on the temple, though in normal times this should be an option. Due to COVID and unsufficient funds, part of the area has been closed off.
2. Yaxchilán. This Maya site is at the border with Guatemala and located beautifully along a river. This is an absolute beautiful site to visit, as it is very remote and only accesable by boat. Much of the city hasn't been excavated, only some parts are. Everything you see here is how the archeologist found it, nothing has been restored. As it is now a protected area, it's likely that the rest of the city won't be recovered. While walking here, monkeys will be everywhere!
3. Bonampak. This site is also remote and quite interesting. It's not as big as Yaxchilán, but it has beautiful murals that are still intact. The murals show some of the important rituals the Maya performed and really bring the whole culture alive.
4. Palenque. The most visited Maya site in this list, but still very quiet in comparison to Chichen Itza. Much of the site has been restored which makes walking here really quite beautiful. There are many interesting buildings to see and monkeys to spot!
5. Calakmul. Our favourite and most special Maya site. Located deep within the tropical forest, its quite a challenge to get here. It was one of the largest cities in the Classic Period and had a big rivalry with Tikal. It is the least visited big Maya city. One of the most special things to do here is climb several temples and watch over the jungle canopy.

We also pass along 2 waterfalls, that were HUGE because we were there at the end of the rainy season.
1. Roberto Barrios
2. Misol Ha
