Verona Italy The City of Love, What to See and Do in Verona
Verona Italy, a charming city nestled in the heart of Northern Italy's Veneto region, has earned its reputation as The City of Love. Famed as the setting for William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy Romeo and Juliet, Verona exudes a romantic ambiance that captivates visitors from around the globe. With its rich history, stunning architecture, and picturesque landscapes, Verona Italy offers an array of captivating attractions and activities that will make your visit truly memorable.
The historical center of Verona, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a treasure trove of architectural marvels and ancient wonders. Begin your exploration at Piazza Bra, one of Italy's largest and most beautiful squares. Here, you'll find the illustrious Verona Arena, a remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheater that dates back to the 1st century AD. As you stroll through its grand arches and step onto the stage, you'll feel the echoes of ancient gladiatorial contests and the vibrant energy of the opera performances that still grace its hallowed grounds today.
From Piazza Bra, make your way to the breathtaking Piazza delle Erbe, a bustling square teeming with vibrant market stalls, elegant cafes, and Renaissance-era palaces. Admire the magnificent frescoes on the façade of the Palazzo Maffei and savor the aromas of fresh produce and local delicacies at the lively market. Climb the Lamberti Tower for a panoramic view of the city, where the terracotta rooftops, ancient churches, and the Adige River meandering through the city create a mesmerizing tapestry.
Verona's connections to Shakespeare's tragedy are best explored at Casa di Giulietta, or Juliet's House. Located on Via Cappello, this 13th-century house is said to have inspired the legendary balcony scene. Enter the courtyard, where the bronze statue of Juliet stands, and feel the weight of timeless love as thousands of visitors leave their love notes on the walls. Ascend to the famous balcony, where you can recreate Romeo and Juliet's immortal declaration of affection.
Verona boasts a rich cultural heritage, and its museums are a testament to the city's artistic and historical significance. The Castelvecchio Museum, housed within a medieval castle built by the powerful Scaliger family, displays an impressive collection of medieval and Renaissance art. Discover masterpieces by Titian, Tintoretto, and Veronese, and immerse yourself in the history of Verona's ruling dynasties.
For those seeking a moment of serenity, Verona offers beautiful gardens and green spaces to relax and unwind. Giardino Giusti, an exquisite Renaissance garden, invites you to wander through its geometrically designed paths and marvel at its perfectly manicured hedges and fountains. As you ascend the garden's terraces, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Verona's rooftops and the rolling hills beyond.
To complete your Verona experience, indulge in the city's delectable cuisine and fine wines. Sample traditional Veronese dishes such as risotto all'Amarone, made with the region's renowned Amarone wine, or try the famous horse-meat delicacies at one of the city's traditional trattorias. Pair your meal with a glass of Valpolicella, a local red wine known for its rich flavors and velvety texture.
Verona, the City of Love, invites you to immerse yourself in its timeless beauty and experience the magic that has enchanted lovers for centuries. Whether you're wandering through ancient streets, exploring historical landmarks, or simply savoring the romantic atmosphere, Verona promises an unforgettable journey that will leave you captivated and yearning to return.

Colli Euganei - Euganean Hills, Veneto - north-east of Italy: What to Visit, Best Attractions (4K)
Colli Euganei stand out unexpectedly in the heart of the Po Valley, close to Venice, with their unmistakable conical volumes. 81 hills of volcanic origin, created over 40 million years ago. The landscape charm goes with a surprising richness of cultural heritage: picturesque medieval villages, castles, Venetian villas, and abbeys, all set among vineyards and olive groves.
And, in the Colli Euganei, you can practice many sports activities: from trekking on the several paths you find there, to mountain biking and much more.
So, which are the main attractions if you visit Colli Euganei?
CATAJO CASTLE
The building appears majestic, with a long entrance avenue that leads to the Courtyard of the Giants. This space was used by the Obizzi family for theatrical performances, tournaments and naumachie (re-enactments of naval battles), given that the lower part of the courtyard could be filled with water. Among the various fountains of the villa, the most spectacular is the Elephant Fountain, located inside a cave dug into the rock embellished with a sculpture depicting the animal, an emblematic work of the exotic tastes of the ancient owners.
GARDEN OF VILLA BARBARIGO
The Garden of Villa Barbarigo has around 400 years of history and allegorically teaches a positive message: in life there are difficulties, but there is always a solution. Perhaps, this is why there is also a labyrinth, probably the oldest of its kind in the world, with walls up to 5 meters high.
VILLA DEI VESCOVI
The fascinating Villa dei Vescovi is located in Luvigliano, in the municipality of Torreglia, and is one of the most beautiful and elegant Renaissance-era villas in the entire Padua area.
Today the interior of the villa is furnished with period furniture and a series of panels illustrate to the visitor the various construction phases and the recent recovery of the building. The surrounding gardens and the porticoed loggias of the villa offer a relaxing immersion in the natural beauty of the Euganean Hills, while the rustic buildings near the entrance house the ticket office, the bookshop and a wine shop.
ABBAZIA DI PRAGLIA
The Praglia Abbey is located in the territory of the municipality of Teolo, at the foot of Mount Lonzina, and is undoubtedly the most important and evocative place of spirituality in the Euganean Hills area. It is a very ancient Benedictine monastery, founded in the 11th century on the initiative of the noble Maltraversi family from Vicenza.
The Praglia Abbey, still inhabited today by Benedictine monks and a destination for constant religious tourism, also houses a National Monumental Library, which contains approximately 100,000 volumes. The room on the upper floor is embellished with 17 canvases by G.B. Zelotti, a painter of the late sixteenth century, inserted in the compartments of the wooden ceiling. Other paintings by the same artist, with biblical themes, are now found in the refectory.
VILLA DRAGHI
Villa Draghi stands isolated on the slopes of Monte Alto, on a small hill west of the town of Montegrotto. The building, as we see it today, is an elegant building built between 1848 and 1850 by Pietro Scapin. In its place in the 17th century, there was the holiday home of the Venetian Alvise Lucadello, a wealthy accountant serving the government of the Serenissima. Subsequently passed into the ownership of the Donati family, the seventeenth-century building was then purchased by Scapin, who, finding the villa in a state of serious decay, decided to demolish it and rebuild it. The new building has largely been preserved and for over a century it has no longer been known by the name of the former owner, but is called Villa Draghi, with reference to the family that owned it from 1874 to 1965.

Piazza Bra | Square of Verona | Italy 🇮🇹 #verona #italy
Piazza Bra , or more simply the Bra (toponym derived from a corruption of the term braida, which in turn derives from the Lombard breit , or largo) is the largest square in Verona , located in its center historical.
The widening of the Bra began to turn into the square only in the first half of the sixteenth century, when the architect Michele Sanmicheli completed the Palazzo degli Honorij : this building delimited the western side of the future square, as well as establishing a correct perspective on the Arena . The first attempt to transform the unpaved open space into a place for strolling was, however, by the mayor Alvise Mocenigo, who wanted to create a meeting place for the nascent Veronese bourgeoisie: he was able to inaugurate the first part of the Liston , a paved sidewalk that flanks the Bra connecting corso Porta Nuova to via Mazzini, in 1770. The Gran Guardia , begun by the Venetians in the seventeenth century and completed by the Austrians in the nineteenth century, delimited the southern side of the square, while in 1836 the architect Giuseppe Barbieri designed the eastern edge, where a hospital, some houses and a small church, in the place of which the Gran Guardia Nuova was built , better known as Palazzo Barbieri. This, initially used as a barracks by the Austrians, became, following the annexation of the Veneto to the Kingdom of Italy , the seat of the town hall of the Municipality of Verona.

#inViaggio all'Osteria Bombetta di Lonigo

VAL LIONA - A NATURAL JEWEL in VENETO ( Italy ) 4k
Val Liona is a municipality located in the center of the Berici Hills, one of the most beautiful naturalistic districts in the province of Vicenza, with its paths and an area that has remained untouched over time.
The municipality was born at the beginning of 2017, following the merger of the municipalities of Grancona and San Germano dei Berici and takes its name from the homonymous valley, the Val Liona, and in particular from the Liona stream, a small stream that descends directly from the Berici hills and of which two branches meet in one in the locality of Le Acque in Grancona and whose strength once powered the wheels and millstones of the numerous mills present in the area.
The Val Liona extends towards the south and the first villages are grouped together on the slopes of the mountains, some of very ancient origin and beauty that certainly deserve a visit (above all the ancient village of Campolongo).
The Liona drain flows along the whole territory, while the valley widens becoming a fertile expanse of cultivated and irrigated fields, formerly reclaimed by the monks, where the valley ends by merging into the great expanse of the Po valley.
There are many reasons for a visit: hiking enthusiasts have five nature trails at their disposal, which pass through the different hamlets of Val Liona: Grancona, Spiazzo, San Germano, Villa del Ferro and Campolongo; paths all recently renovated thanks to the work of some local voluntary associations and having a variable length from 6 to 9 kilometres, in an up and down amidst unique landscapes during which one can come across historic works of man, such as the numerous fountains present and the ”, particular stone buildings dating back to a few centuries ago, a sort of ancient shelters, similar to the Sardinian “nuraghi”.
For those who prefer cultural visits there are numerous historic buildings present. Ancient oratories, such as La Cesòla, dating back to the 12th century, the church of Santa Apollonia (13th century) and the Sanctuary of the Addolorata di Spiazzo. The villas of the Venetian nobles Dolfin and Priuli, both from the 1600s, the first inside the ancient walled village of Campolongo and the other located in the historic center of Villa del Ferro, works attributed to the well-known architect Vincenzo Scamozzi.
Val Liona is also known for Vicenza Stone: in the quarries in Pederiva and Spiazzo, this soft, uniform, pure and clear limestone is still extracted today; it is the best known and most used building material in the local tradition.
The testimonies and values of that predominant peasant civilization in Val Liona in past centuries are collected in a unique museum for its characteristics, the Museum of peasant civilization founded in 1995 and located in a building once used as a stable, located behind of the Castellaro of Grancona.
The public spaces that can be used free of charge include the camper parking area, near the town of Grancona and the fitness area, an authentic outdoor gym located near the Pederiva sports facilities.
