Arne and Tim spent one Week in Malta in Spring 2016. Pretty much the best time to be around: Not too hot and a good opportunity to escape the from the temperatures in central Europe that you get in Months like March or April.
Our recommendations in order of appearance:

00:10 St. Peter’s Pool (Delimara). To reach the hidden swimming spot in the southeast of the island, head to Marsaxlokk and continue towards Delimara Lighthouse.

Mosta is the central city famous for its Rotunda Church, which has a huge dome that is the third largest unsupported dome in the whole world with an internal diameter of 37.2 m and walls almost 9.1 m (30 ft) thick.
An interesting fact is that during the Second World War, during the bombing, a 500 kg demolition bomb penetrated the ceiling of the dome and fell inside the church during mass. Fortunately, the charge did not explode and no one was injured. This bomb is displayed inside the rotunda.
Mosta is located in central Malta and has a population of approximately 19,000, making it one of the largest cities on the island of Malta. Around the town of Mosta are the villages of Naxxar, Rabat, Mdina, Burmarrad and Lija.
Mosta is located on the main route that runs from Valletta to Cirkewwa in the north and therefore experiences heavy daily traffic, especially on Constitution Street. Mosta can be reached from the following cities: Valletta, St Julian's, Sliema, Bugibba, Bugibba, Qawra, Mdina, Mosta and Cirkewwa.

A Visit to Beautiful Malta
An island that should be on your radar if you're traveling to the Mediterranean, Malta is steeped in history and offers a surprising natural beauty. Come along with us on a brief visit and visit us at for stories.
~MALTA~ Lija Village Tour & Festa
Hi everyone :) Today we are in the beautiful village of Lija. Lija is a village found in the center of island and is part of the region of the three villages together with Attard and Balzan. We first go around and visit the village square which is infront of the parish church and the band club where you can find a few shops and across the road there are modern homes and villas with the Belvedere at the beginning of the entrance of the village. Next we go to the Lija parish church. The church, dedicated to the Trasfiguration or Christ the Saviour was built in 1694 and was completed some 17 years later. It was built facing the modern part of Lija while the old part of village is just behind the church. The interior is adorned with beautiful treasures, riches and a beautiful altar underneath the dome adorned with the Titular painting. In our visit to the church we go up the bell tower where we see stunning views of the village. We also participate in the traditional bell ringing, bells which 5 of them where cast in 1946 by John Taylor Bell Founders of Loughbrough in England. The 5 bells are known as some of finest bells on Malta. There are also 3 older bells but these rarely ring and are used on special occasions. After we go to the stunning Belvedere which was built in the 19th Century in a huge garden near a beautiful villa we can still find today nearby. In the 1950s some parts of the garden where shrinked to make way for Trasfiguration Road. Instead of demolishing the Belvedere it was decided to instead preserve it and leave it as a roundabout. Today the Belvedere is a popular hangout and a known landmark just outside the village square. Then we also go around the colourful streets and alleyways. Finally we end the video with pictures showing the best parts of the Lija village festa dedicated to the Trasfiguration ( Is- Salvatur ) celebrated every 6th August. The village of Lija is a very quiet place adorned with villas and a colourful festa, so it definitely deserves a visit :) Hope you enjoyed :)
What are festas ?
Festas are Religious Catholic events held in many places around Malta islands. The festa includes pontifical mass, band parties, late night parties, decorations and a procession with statue of the patron saint of the locality.

MALTA: Lija - Villa Francia
MALTA: Lija - Villa Francia
Malta has many treasures. One of them is Villa Francia which is in Lija.
After almost two decades of being uninhabited, Villa Francia was restored to its original glory and inaugurated in September 12, 2009.
The restoration on the 18th century architectural jewel, which was formerly known as Villa Preziosi, started in 2006 by the Infrastructure Ministry, with the help of the Resources Ministry and MCAST students.
The villa comprises a coach room, a water mill and 10 fountains and is surrounded by large gardens.
It was the residence of Sir Ugo Mifsud during his term as Prime Minister between 1924 and 1927 and between 1932 - 1933. Villa Francia is now government-owned and will be used for official functions.
We visited this villa and took some photos and movies which we're sharing with you all.

A quick view of the town of Qormi, Malta 🇲🇹
While I was exploring some of the districts outside of Valletta, I had the opportunity to capture this view of the city of Qormi, Malta 🇲🇹
Qormi (Maltese: Ħal Qormi [ħal ʔormi]; pronounced Ħar Qurmi in the Qormi dialect), also known by its title Città Pinto, is a city in the Southern Region of Malta, southwest of Valletta in the centre of the island. It has a population of 16,324 (as of March 2018), making it Malta's fifth-largest city.
Its bordering towns are Marsa, Luqa, Żebbuġ, Siġġiewi, Ħamrun, Birkirkara, Attard, Santa Venera and Balzan.
Qormi has two parishes, one dedicated to Saint George and one to Saint Sebastian. It contains two valleys: Wied il-Kbir (The Large Valley) and Wied is-Sewda (Black Valley).
Elder inhabitants of Qormi speak a broad Qormi Dialect, which is now in decline.
In 1743 the town made a plea to Grand Master Manuel Pinto da Fonseca to elevate it to the level of a city. This was granted and the town received the title of Città Pinto on 25 May 1743. The decree issued by Pinto said Habita relatione, Terra Curmi erigmus In Civitatem, Imponentes el nomen Pinto, which means that the land of Qormi, to which he gave his own name Pinto, was then given higher dignity from a piece of land to a city, a fact which is now preserved in the locality's Latin motto: Altior Ab Imo (which means, rising from the low). Qormi's bakers served most of the island's bread supplies.
Malta's staple food is bread and Maltese bread is very much sought after. Qormi is recognized nationally as the capital of Maltese bread-making. It boasts the largest number of bakeries in the country, several of which still operate in the traditional manner using wood-fired ovens.
The importance of Qormi's history was highlighted back in 2007 when for the first time in its local history, Qormi hosted the national event of 'Lejl f'Casal Fornaro', meaning 'A night in Casal Fornaro' as Qormi was known hundreds of years ago. This event brought the greatest thousands that Qormi never witnessed before, outgrowing even the attendance for the traditional feasts.
In Search of Anthony Burgess: Lija — The Maltese Phantom (2/3)
The haunted house at 168 Main Street, Lija. Burgess explains in his autobiography that he discovered shortly after buying the house (thought to have been built in 1798) that the previous owner had flung himself from the roof in a fit of depression. But Burgess and his second wife Liana were not unduly concerned about the ghost. They lived here (with frequent absences to undertake tours abroad) from 1968 to 1970.
