25/07/18 - An Hour At Bishopbriggs and Lenzie
A short selection of videos from an hour worth of time spent at Bishopbriggs and Lenzie on 25th July 2018. Unfortunatley I don't have records of each particular service seen in the videos, but this was at a time when the E&G route provided a colourful mix of trains - we see Class 170s, 365 (Happy Trains), an HST on Driver training runs, some 380s and some 158s. A colourful mix if I do say so myself. Enjoy
The Journey along the Croy Line - Every Station on the ScotRail Express
The Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway was the very first Railway which connected the two Cities in Scotland and opened in 1842 and also features as the ScotRail Express in Train Sim World 4.
This video is looking at all 10 stations between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street as I travel along the fastest route between the two Cities as well.
This video looking at the remaining stations from Falkirk High to Glasgow Queen Street and looking at the Croy Line which features Croy, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs with the Modern Class 385 EMUs but also features some Class 170 and Class 158 DMUs and maybe a odd Class 43 HT thrown in for ScotRail

Ancestry Genealogy Photographs Lenzie East Dunbartonshire Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of photographs of Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire. Lenzie, as a town, was built in the 19th century as a commuter town for those travelling to Glasgow and Edinburgh, as Lenzie railway station is a stop between the two cities. The train station was originally named Kirkintilloch Junction and later Campsie Junction, as it was a junction between the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway and its Campsie branch line through Kirkintilloch, the latter line no longer exists. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

I came to Lenzie to see the NRM class 67 come through & decided to catch some other things during my several hour wait here. Plenty of 385 action with some HST’s added on top.

Lenzie Station 18/3/19
We spent another week in Scotland and covered many of the stations between Glasgow and Edinburgh on both the Falkirk High root and the Shotts Route (the last diesel route between both cities) we also visited a number of stations in the Glasgow Suburbs to capture more of the current rolling stock in use before the Class 385’s are put more widespread onto these routes. These are the individual videos from all the stations from the week:

A wintery morning across the country. Quite dense fog in the early hours and plummeting temperatures down to well below freezing. Rather changeable though, as you'll see in the video some shots the sun was shining in others the fog had rolled in again. Filmed for an hour at Lenzie just to get some HST's passing through, then had a connection at Croy in order to get to Edinburgh, so I filmed a bit more there.
Services in Scotland are reduced at the moment, and trains across the E&G route are reduced by 50% from 4 an hour to 2.
I had unfortunately just missed the Royal Train which was in Edinburgh, as Will & Kate were doing a tour of the UK to thank Key Workers.

Vintage Alexander And Sons Passenger Bus Arriving Bus Station On Visit To Perth Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland 4K short Summer travel video clip of a vintage Alexander and Sons passenger bus arriving at the Bus Station on visit to Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Alexanders' Motor Services began running omnibus services in the Falkirk area from a base in Camelon in 1913, and by 1924 the company was registered as W. Alexander & Sons Limited. It was run by father and son, Walter Alexander, born 1879, died 1959, and Walter Alexander, born 1902, died 1979. The geographical extent of the company's services was huge, extending from Glasgow and Oban in the south west to Aberdeen and Forres in the north east, so for management purposes there where three operating areas; Fife, within the county of Fife, which prior to the construction of the Forth and Tay road bridges had a relatively self contained bus network, Southern which was South and West of Perth, Perthshire, and Northern which was Dundee and the north east. In 1961 the operating company was split into three smaller units corresponding with these areas, W. Alexander & Sons Fife Limited, based in Kirkcaldy, W. Alexander & Sons Midland Ltd. based in Falkirk and W. Alexander & Sons Northern Ltd. based in Aberdeen. Alexander Midland also absorbed the David Lawson subsidiary at this time. The old company's buses had used a blue livery, apart from Perth City and Kirkcaldy Town buses and the David Lawson subsidiary, which fleets were usually painted dark red. Soon after the split, however, the Fife and Northern companies adopted bright red and yellow liveries respectively, while the Midland company retained the original shade of blue. The Alexander fleetname was not used on vehicles thereafter, although the bluebird logo used on Alexander's coach fleet continued to be used by all three successor companies. As part of a rebranding exercise within the Scottish Transport Group in 1978, fleet names Fife Scottish, Midland Scottish and Northern Scottish were adopted. In preparation for deregulation of bus services, a further reorganisation of the Scottish Bus Group occurred in 1985 in which boundaries were realigned again and the three companies became five: Fife Scottish Omnibuses Ltd., Kelvin Scottish Omnibuses Ltd., Midland Scottish Omnibuses Ltd., Northern Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. and Strathtay Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
