⏩ Why is Kenya a tourist destination?
Kenya's wildlife and unique landscapes have attracted growth in ecotourism, and much of its economy is now primarily sustained by foreign revenue brought in by tourism, causing a myriad of positive and negative impacts to its culture, ecosystems, and lifestyles of its local people.
⏩ Why do foreigners love Kenya?
According to the report, Kenya ranks well in the peace and security category and sports, but the country scores poorly in science and technology and employability categories. Kenya's friendliness and welcoming nature also ranked well, and so did the country's natural beauty.

Old Town Mombasa, Kenya | A piece of the past. | Get to know/tembea Kenya.
Hey guys!
Hope that you’re well and keeping safe.
This video is about Old Town in Mombasa, Kenya.
Old Town is situated on the south-east side of Mombasa Island, covers an area of 72 hectares (180 acres) and is adjacent to Tudor Creek. It’s inhabited by a mix of local, Arab, Asian, Portuguese and British settlers who have co-existed for hundreds of years.
The various social, religious, political and economic activities of these groups have created a distinct character and culture, which together has come to define this old town. The architectural style and designs of the historical buildings in this area also reflects these cultures.
The buildings are conveniently located opposite each other and separated by narrow streets.
Many of these buildings, that date back to the 18th century, still exist and are characterised by white coral walls, beautifully carved large doors, wooden windows and raised & elegantly styled balconies attached to their turn of the century facades.
Door carving was as a result of booming trade especially in the 19th century whereby wood carving emerged as a symbol of Swahili art in the decoration of doors and other domestic items. It became fashionable to fit every elegant building with a carved door.
The Swahili also use doors to depict wealth. The more carved and grander a door is the richer the owner. There are different door types in Old Town Mombasa which include: the Gujerati door, Omani door and Zanzibar door.
Many of the Old Town’s Swahili architectural structures are residential and some have been converted into artisan stores and souvenir shops where you can purchase gifts and souvenir such as silver jewellery, beaded sandals, perfumes, fragrance oils and antiques.
Mombasa’s first Police station that was built in 1898, the city's oldest mosque and Kenya’s third recorded mosque, Mandhry Mosque, which was built in 1570, the first/oldest post office which was built in 1899 , The Africa Hotel was the first hotel in Kenya and began operations in 1901 and the old port are all located in Old Town.
You can either walk around old town by yourself or hire a tour guide at a reasonable price at the esplanade of Fort Jesus. Prices range from US$ 10 to US$ 20 per hour.
I will be talking more about Fort Jesus in a separate video. Watch out for it!
