Sharing our last leg of road trip in the South Island of New Zealand. We did 2weeks of a road trip in the south and now we are in Greymouth, the West cove , New Zealand for 3 days. But before anything else lemme show you some of our beautiful stopovers along the way. Happy watching.
ATTRACTIONS THINGS TO DO IN GREYMOUTH NEW ZEALAND | SOUTH ISLAND | INDAYNAMO | VLOG #054
LAKE HAWEA LOOKOUT is a scenic spot in New Zealand. Lake Hāwea stretches 35 kilometers from north to south. It lies in a glacial valley formed during the last ice age, and is fed by the Hunter River.
GREYMOUTH is a town on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Its History House Museum has exhibits chronicling the town’s mining and jade-hunting past.
MONTEITH'S BREWERY is the leading craft brewery in New Zealand. Inspired menu, explore a range of craft beers and cider with a tasting tray, enjoy the museum, or shop all the Monteith’s.
HOKITIKA GORGE Scenic gorge along the Hokitika River featuring walking & hiking trails, plus kayaking. A curved gantry provides further river views and the impressive structure of the upper Hokitika Gorge suspension bridge looms in the distance with the mountain in the background. The Bridge offers spectacular views of the Hokitika Gorge, mature forested surrounds, and the foothills of the Southern Alps. Open 24 hours.
PANCAKE ROCKS BLOWHOLES This is an all-weather walk around the curious limestone formations of pancake rocks and blowholes. With the exception of an optional short section with steps, the walk is suitable for wheelchairs (with assistance).
BULLER GORGE SWINGBRIDGE Cross New Zealand’s longest Swingbridge on the 110m long Buller Gorge Swingbridge. Suspended 19 meters high above the mighty Buller River. Experience nature, explore the history, and extend your scope for thrill-seeking on the far side. From 10 minutes to 2 hours or even a whole day, Buller Gorge Swingbridge Adventure and Heritage Park has attractions for everyone. PRICES Swingbridge crossing and walks: Adult – $10 Child – $5.
HANMER SPRINGS is a resort town in the Canterbury region of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s known for Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa, with its mineral waters. The surrounding mountains are home to trails and seasonal ski slopes.
MARUIA FALLS SCENIC RESERVE was one of the few wide river waterfalls in New Zealand that we were able to experience somewhat closely from its bottom. the track descends to the Maruia Riverbank. In any case, this roughly 9-11m tall waterfall was said to have grown 8m after the Murchison Earthquake in 1929. Maruia Falls is roughly a 2-hours' drive away from either Greymouth or Hanmer Springs.
KILKENNY LOOKOUT offers views of the Lower Buller Gorge river and the natural beauty around it. Kilkenny Lookout is located on Lower Buller Gorge Road (State Highway 6) near WesT
ARTHUR'S PASS NATIONAL PARK is one of the most stunning drives in New Zealand. The road to the summit is called New Zealand Highway 73 (also known as West Coast Road). Arthur's Pass, climbing to more than 900 meters through Arthur's Pass National Park, is the highest and most spectacular pass across the Southern Alps.

Welcome back to another travel with Aspie vlog. This time FireTheLier and I went through Greymouth for a couple or three days and then we went to go and do a little bit of sightseeing in and around Greymouth and into Hokitika. I talked briefly about the mining accident that happened outside of Greymouth and also shared some top places to go and see and do in Hokitika. I talked also briefly and short about Kaniere and what's known for also.

New Zealand's most scenic rail journey | The TranzAlpine | Christchurch to Greymouth
The TranzAlpine is New Zealand's most famous train, crossing the Southern Alps from Christchurch to Greymouth on the West Coast. Find out whether the train lives up to its venerable reputation.
In this video, I'll show you what the Scenic Class carriages are like, check out the food and drink options from the onboard cafe and enjoy the views from the open-air viewing car. Of course, the scenery is the main act including a spectacular river gorge, towering viaducts, high mountain plains, braided rivers and pristine mountain lakes, en route to the West Coast.
The TranzAlpine is widely considered one of the world's great train journeys, covering 230 kilometres and taking just under 5 hours.
Starting in Christchurch, the journey crosses the expansive Canterbury Plains on the South Island Main Trunk line (SIMT). At Rolleston, the TranzAlpine turns north onto the Midland Line. Following an ancient Maori trail through the mountains that was later plotted by engineer Arthur Dobson, it is the Midland Line's passage through the Southern Alps that astounds the senses. The railway line between Springfield and Arthur's Pass is considered a masterpiece of railway engineering.
The Otira Tunnel marks the transition from Canterbury to West Coast. The weather is typically wetter on the west side - and the scenery is noticeably more vibrant. The views of Lake Brunner and the heritage station at Moana are not to be missed.

Wild West Coast New Zealand 🇳🇿 - Hokitika, Greymouth & STUNNING Gorge Walk | 197 Countries, 3 Kids
Join us as we continue to explore the West Coast of New Zealand - one of the most picturesque areas of the country renowned for its rugged landscape, black sand beaches and natural wonders.
After a good night's sleep in Hokitika, we set off to discover the town that is known as the cool little town of New Zealand. Our first stop was the Visitors Information Center where we picked up a map of the local hiking trails and learned that the book called ‘The Luminaries’ by Eleanor Catton was based on the history of this town. We also learned that the new TV series based on the book was unfortunately not filmed here.
Our next stop was at the Gold Room where we saw a great selection of gold nuggets, antique scales and models of old gold mining machines. There is also a map there with all the countries in the world that have precious stone mines. After our visit, we stopped by a cafe to grab some warm cappuccinos and then went to see the National Kiwi Centre.
At a local Possum fur store, Chantal was reminded of her childhood back in Canada. Growing up, her family operated a similar clothing store with products made out of sheepskin, leather and such. We all had a good laugh when we noticed they even sell possum belly button warmers :-)
On our walk around the town, we discovered the statue of Richard Seddon situated on Sewell Street, right outside the Government Buildings.
We also wandered around the river bed in the hope of witnessing some old ship remains and later stood by the Quay to enjoy the majestic beauty of the surrounding area.
When you are here, we strongly recommend you to go for a walk along the local beach. Visit the beautiful Hokitaki driftwood sign and as evening comes enjoy a picture-perfect sunset.
On the way out of town, we visited a jade store and then drove about 30 minutes to the Hokitika Gorge. What a beautiful place to discover!
With dramatic views of the Tasman Sea, we left Hokitaki and drove north to Greymouth. This town has a history of jade hunting, gold mining and devastating floods. It also has a population of fifteen thousand which accounts for around 40% of the total population of the West Coast!
Our last stop of the day was a walk along the Pororari Punakaiki Loop of the Paparoa Trail.
With so much to see and do in the area, we highly recommend you visit for a few days!
