Must-do day trip in Mauritius - Bois Cheri, Ganga Talao, Black river gorges, waterfalls
We do a great trip to the South of Mauritius. A must-do trip and best if you can do it on your last day as a trip to the airport. Starting with tea at Bois Cheri, a visit to Grand Bassin or Ganga Talao temple, then off to natural stuff with waterfalls and views and end up eating traditional Mauritian food at Palais de Barbizon. Add this one to your bucket list for sure.

Mauritius (French: Maurice), officially the Republic of Mauritius (French: République de Maurice), is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) off the southeast coast of the African continent.
CAPITAL
Port Louis is the capital city of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean. It's known for its French colonial architecture and the 19th-century Champ de Mars horse-racing track. The Caudan Waterfront is a lively dining and shopping precinct. Nearby, vendors sell local produce and handicrafts at the huge Central Market.
LAND
Mauritius lies about 500 miles (800 km) east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. Its outlying territories are Rodrigues Island, situated about 340 miles (550 km) eastward, the Cargados Carajos Shoals, 250 miles (400 km) northeastward, and the Agalega Islands, 580 miles (930 km) northward from the main island.
PEOPLE
Approximately 68% of the population is of Indian decent, most of whom are descendants of indentured labourers brought to work in the sugar industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries. About one-fourth of the population is Creole (of mixed French and African descent), and there are small numbers of people of Chinese and Franco-Mauritian descent.
EXPORTS
More than half of the country’s area is arable, and it is almost entirely planted in sugarcane, the major export crop. Vegetables and tea for local consumption are also grown.
ECONOMY
Mauritius has a mixed developing economy based on manufactured exports, agriculture, tourism, and financial services.
Mauritius also has very close ties with Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Seychelles, Comoros, Zambia, Mozambique, Sudan, Djibouti, Malawi, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Gabon,Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Senegal, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal , Egypt and Burundi among other African Countries.
Internationally Mauritius is a key and strategic ally to the USA, Canada, Australia, Jordan, Israel, Mexico, Cuba, Germany, Sweden, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Pakistan, Russia, England(United Kingdom) and India.

Grand River South East Mauritius Vlog
We explore the Grand River South East area or GRSE as everyone seems to call it. We started at the dock where we met a local guy Steve with his boat, Andre. We then walked around the Laguna Beach Hotel and flew the drone over it. Next up was the hunt for food.
Luckily an old BMW 318i stopped us at a great snack shop called Site shop on Google maps. We ate great fish roti and the best-fried chicken in Mauritius. A quick stop at the fish landing and ferry point to look around. I got some solar-powered ice cream.
We continued and got to a lookout point full of monkeys and met Louis. We flew the drone over the waterfall and then headed to the sugar mill, Deep water Beau champ. It was an epic adventure.

SAYING GOODBYE TO MAURITIUS (Best Things To Do Around Mahebourg) - Mauritius Road Trip Ep. 9
It’s our last day on Mauritius and we’re sad to leave! In this video we make the most of our last day and explore the best things to do around Mahebourg. Mahebourg is a town on the east coast of Mauritius, which is the least visited side of the island. Before driving to Mahebourg we spent some time in a resort in Quatre Cocos, as you can find some good deals in this area. We then check in to our guesthouse in Mahebourg, try manioc biscuits that are famous on Mauritius, head to a restaurant that is supposed to serve the best Biryani on Mauritius (it is delicious) and then drive to Blue Bay for a great spontaneous snorkelling trip. This was the perfect way to end our Mauritius road trip and we hope you enjoyed coming along!

Ganga Talao also known as the Grand Bassin of Mauritius, is a crater lake located in the mountainous southwestern Savanna region. A temple stands by the lake along with a collection of small shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and other gods. The Ganga Talao lake is about 18 meters deep and teems with a healthy population of fish and eels. It is a place of pilgrimage, and pilgrims make their way to the lake every year at the time of Maha Shivaratri. In 2007, a huge statue of the Hindu god Shiva was unveiled, which remains the tallest statue in Mauritius at about 33 meters. The sight of the Mangal Mahadev statue is quite impressive as it is a beautifully crafted majestic statue. Grand Bassin / Ganga Talao has ample parking and toilets and entry to the site is free, but donations are welcome. The Bois Chéri tea plantation is also nearby.
