Sotira Waterfall, Gramsh - 🇦🇱 Albania @MTravelVlog
The Sotira River, created by the waterfall, flows throughout the surrounding forest, giving the already awe-inspiring panorama the perfect frame. With the right pair of shoes, you may even be able to get closer to the waterfall. A path has been created throughout the years to maximize the whole experience. Walk with care as the terrain can be a tad slippery!
The trip is fairly simple, following the Gramsh–Sotira Village–Waterfall itinerary. As you exit the town of Gramsh, follow the blue road signs showing the direction of the Sotira Waterfall. Once you arrive in the Sotira village, get ready to hike along the only road that is visible. If you have a 4X4, you may choose to use drive there. Otherwise, park your car in the village. There you can grab something to eat or drink at the small village diner/shop, and begin your hike. We would suggest bringing some food along for the hike. By doing so you can enjoy an idyllic picnic with a spectacular view in the meadow by the waterfall. Length of Hike: about 6 kilometers.

Lake of Banja, Gramsh - 🇦🇱 Albania @MTravelVlog
Gramsh, a city located in the Valley of Devolli River is proving that proper management of water resources is a key element to economic growth and sustainable development. Gramsh district is located in southeastern Albania, some 84 km away from Tirana, and the administrative center can be reached from the capital city in less than two hours drive.
Gramsh is home to beautiful natural monuments, while manmade works complement these natural assets. But the area was not on the attention of tourists due to lack of infrastructure. However, the area got the attention of Norwegian investors that started the construction of two large renewable energy projects, the hydro power plants in Banja and Moglica. The first was put into service one year ago, in September 2017 and the second is expected to end in 2018. Besides the fact that the two HPPs along with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) are the major source of Foreign Direct Investments to Albania, they are also improving the lives of local communities and making Gramsh accessible to tourists and visitors. A new road from Banja to Gramsh and 13 bridges were also constructed as part of the project.
This is the largest energy work since the construction of Koman HPP some 30-years-ago and like Koman, which is now one of Albania’s must-see attractions, it will turn into a tourist attraction. The reservoir has a total volume of 391 billion liters of water and it covers an area of 14 square km. Currently, there are only a few restaurants on the coast of the lake that offer local products from the small farms. Their menus include fresh artisan-made bread and cheese, fresh fish and meat that are incredibly cheap. Some also offer boat trips on the lake.

Exploring Kanioni i Holtës - Liqeni i Banjës, Gramsh, Albania
Kanioni i Holtës - Liqeni Banjës, Gramsh, Albania
It is located to the northeast of Gramsh, near the villages of Kabash and Bardhaj. The canyon was formed over time through the process of erosion due to the Holtë River. The area displays the phenomena known as karst topography. The Canyon is 3 km long, 350 meters high and 10 meters wide, is made up of many caves that have not yet been explored by adventurous travelers. Limestone karst topography lines the Canyon, creating a rare and beautiful site, rich in stalactites and stalagmites.

The Gramsh City of Albania is beautiful Hilly Areas and Amazing Views
Gramsh is a small town located in central Albania. It is the capital of the Gramsh Municipality and the Gramsh District. The town is situated in the Elbasan County, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of the capital city, Tirana.
Gramsh is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, with the Tomorr Mountains to the southwest and the Devoll River flowing through the town. The area has a rich historical and cultural heritage, with several ancient sites and historical landmarks nearby.
One of the notable attractions in Gramsh is the Gramsh Castle, also known as Kalaja e Gramshit. This medieval fortress sits on a hill overlooking the town and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The castle dates back to the 13th century and has played a significant role in the region's history.
The town itself is relatively small and has a population of around 8,000 people. It serves as an administrative and economic center for the surrounding agricultural region, known for its production of fruits, vegetables, and wine. The town's economy also includes small-scale industries such as textiles, construction materials, and food processing.
In terms of infrastructure, Gramsh is connected to other parts of Albania by road and has bus connections to neighboring towns and cities. However, it does not have a railway station or an airport, with the closest airport being Tirana International Airport, located in the capital.
Overall, Gramsh offers visitors a glimpse into rural life in Albania, with its scenic landscapes, historical sites, and traditional agricultural practices. It is a place where visitors can experience the country's rich history and natural beauty away from the bustling urban centers.
