Ilsan Lake Park is Located at Janghang-dong, Ilsan-gu district, Goyang city, Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea. it was opened on 4 May 1996 with a total space of approximately 1,034,000 square metres (11,130,000 sq ft). It was constructed over a period of about 3 years (from Jan 1993 to Dec 1995).The lake's surface area is approximately 300,000 square metres (3,200,000 sq ft) and is reportedly the largest artificial lake in Asia.
The park was designed to provide natural-looking spaces for outdoor recreation in an urban area that is isolated from natural water and trees.

The Chinese, Japanese and Korean international family started a 2-day winter trip. Today we came to Goyang City, which is 40 minutes away from Seoul. There are many places to play and shop in this city, so this time we decided to stay in this city for one night, which is also the first for our baby. It's the first time we live outside, so I don't know what interesting things will happen tonight.

Goyang City, hometown of BTS member RM, unveils mural of beloved star

On Sept. 12, Goyang City unveiled a new tourist attraction after weeks of painting: a mural of K-pop star RM of boy band BTS. The rapper grew up in Ilsan, a district within Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the outskirts of the capital.

In August, Goyang City Hall said it was partnering with the artist’s fandom, MoNiJunNi, on a special project to celebrate his 28th birthday. The city and MoNiJunNi jointly announced that they would paint an 18-by-12-meter mural on the side of the Goyang Tourist Information Center to welcome travelers.

The rapper’s love for his hometown was the biggest factor in the city’s decision.

During the 75th session of the UN General Assembly in September, RM opened his speech by talking about Ilsan. He described it as a “really beautiful place with a lake, hills and even an annual flower festival.”

“I spent a very happy childhood there, and I was just an ordinary boy. I used to look up at the night sky and wonder, and I used to dream the dreams of a boy,” RM said in a powerful speech about self-love.

RM also mentioned Ilsan in the lyrics to “Ma City,” the B-side track on the band’s fourth extended-play album, “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt. 2.”

“Ilsan is the place I want to be buried after I die,” he wrote. “It’s the city of the flower, city of Mon.” Mon refers to RM’s former stage name, Rap Monster.

As soon as the mural was revealed to the public, it caused a buzz on social media. Several fans of the septet traveled to Ilsan from other parts of the nation and wrote messages on the wall. “RM, the son of Ilsan,” read one message. “I live, so I love,” read another.

Goyang Mayor Lee Jae-jun revealed his hope of invigorating Ilsan by showcasing the mural at Ilsan Culture Park.

“These would bring a seismic change in the city and emerge as Instagrammable spots. Also, the CJ LiveCity arena for K-pop concerts would create notable effects in synergy,” Lee said.

#BTS’s RM Donates 100 Million Won To Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation

BTS’s #RM has made another meaningful donation!

On September 15, the Cultural Heritage Administration and the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation announced that RM had recently donated 100 million won (approximately $71,800) to the foundation for the preservation, restoration, and utilization of cultural assets overseas.

In September 2021, RM quietly donated 100 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation. According to the foundation, the donations were used for conservation work of the Joseon Dynasty hwarots—traditional Korean clothing worn during the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty by only royal women for ceremonial occasion—at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The additional 100 million won that RM donated this year will be used to create a catalog introducing Korean paintings.

RM was also recognized as one of the 2020 Patrons of the Art after loaning a piece of his sculpture collection, “Horse” by sculptor Kwon Jin Gyu, to the Seoul Museum of Art and donating 100 million won to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The artist has shown his special affection for Korean art by participating in the Korean and English exhibition commentary for “The Space Between: Modern Korean Art Exhibition,” which is on display at LACMA starting from September 11, 2022.

In addition, RM has posted photos of him visiting art museums and galleries across the country on his Instagram. The museums that RM visited are gaining popularity by becoming known as part of the “#RMTour,” proving RM’s influence within the Korean art industry.
