1. The Sauna Culture: Do expect to head into a sauna during your time in Finland. It is such a part of the culture that people have them built into their homes, and yes do expect to go naked and run out and jump into the snow for a little extra fun.
2. The Finns Can Talk While Inhaling: the Finns have so much to say when they do talk that they actually can talk while they exhale and while they inhale. Quite a sight when you see it for the first time.
3. The Natural Beauty of Finland: from the lakes and forests to the parks and islands Finland boasts a ton of nature and the locals love it. So whether it is skiing in Lapland or mushroom hunting or visiting the archipelago islands you will see so much beauty in Finland.
4. How Quiet the Finns Can Be: the Finns enjoy silence and you will see that in stores, on the street, and especially on public transportation. So do keep it down.
5. How Clean Finland Is: from pristine forests, to amazing clean and crisp air, to the locals having pride and keeping their cities and towns clean, Finns do love a clean country. Oh, and never wear your shoes in someones house.
6. Finnish Tasty Treats: Salmiakki is the child of black licorice and salt, and I mean that in the least tastiest way possible. The Finns love salmiakki candy (and Finland has a ton of great candy aside form Salmiakki). So be prepared for some great tasty treats, like their cinnamon rolls and anything made with mushrooms and do watch out for the funny ones.
7. How Difficult the Finnish Language Is: luckily for tourists most Finns speak very good English, so you do not need to speak any Finnish. The Finnish language is considered one of the most difficult languages to learn and when you see all those vowels you will understand why.
8. The Cities Have Two Names: in Finland, Finnish and Swedish are the two official languages and so all the signs on the highway are in Finnish and Swedish. This can lead to a bit of confusion when the cities don't have similar names in both languages, for example Turku is Turku in English and Finnish, but Abo in Swedish.
9. Finnish Logic: for as smart and clever as the Finns are some foreigners sometimes get lost in Finnish logic. When you see something around the country that just doesn't quite make sense, just chalk it up to Finnish logic.
10. You Have to Go to a Government Store to Buy Hard Alcohol: if you want to grab a bottle of Finlandia Vodka in Helsinki you can't just head to the local grocery store. You have to go to Alko, the government run liquor store. The prices are high and the hours are strange, but it is the only place to go.

Meadow Brook Hall was the home of Alfred and Matilda Dodge Wilson. She was the widow of John Dodge of automotive fame; after his death, her controlling interest in the Dodge Brothers gave her a great fortune. Combined with the wealth of her second husband, their financial resources allowed them to build Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Michigan, the fourth largest private residence in the United States. Henry Ford Fairlane Estate, Rouge River plant, World Headquarters and Library in Dearborn MI
Fair Lane was the name of Henry Ford and Clara Ford's estate in Dearborn, Michigan. It was named after an area in County Cork where his adoptive grandfather, Patrick Ahern, was born. The extensive 1300 acre (5.3 km²) estate along the River Rouge included a large limestone house, electrical power plant on the dammed river, boathouse, stables and gardens designed by Jens Jensen. The estate was eventually donated to the University of Michigan for a new Dearborn campus. Part of it is preserved as a historic landmark,and part as a wooded nature area.
In June 1917, President of the United States Woodrow Wilson had summoned auto-builder Henry Ford to Washington in the hope of getting him to serve on the United States Shipping Board. Wilson felt that Ford, with his knowledge of mass production techniques, could immensely speed the building of ships in quantity. Appraised of the need for antisubmarine vessels to combat the U-boat menace, Ford replied, what we want is one type of ship in large numbers.

MY BABY-WISE DAUGHTER ALESHA, GRADUATED WITH AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN HEALTH AND SCIENCE AND NOW HAS COMPLETED THE NURSING PROGRAM TO BECOME A REGISTERED NURSE. GOT TO STAY WITH HER A FEW DAYS IN OKLAHOMA. VERY PROUD OF HER AND ALL OF THE HARD WORK SHE HAS DONE TO ACHIEVE HER GOAL OF BECOMING AN RN.
I'm a disabled American Army veteran from Kansas City KS and I arrived in Thailand in Oct. 2015. I came to Thailand for health reasons and knew I would benefit from a tropical climate. I have lived in Thailand full-time ever since 2015, and only vacation back home to the States. I am married to a Thai lady and stay in Thailand with a Non O Family visa. In 2016 a friend asked me if I would be interested in teaching English as a second language for high school students? I did not come to Thailand to work, but after living here six months I was getting bored of retirement life. So, I started teaching part-time ESL conversational class with no text books. Similar to a speech and drama class but, students using English second language rather than their native language. I then went on to teach the same type of class (ESL) conversational English for the Royal Thai Military Academy (CRMA) in Nakhon Nayok. I love teaching these smart Army Cadets, and have made many Thai friends with the Royal Thai Army. Many of my cadets and graduated have went on the serve as officers in Special Forces for the RTA. Royal Thai officers training with western allies on active duty using their English skills to share Thai culture with western troops. Doesn't get any more rewarding then that. The most I've ever worked as an ESL teacher was 18 hours a week. Great part-time gig to get me assimilated into Thai culture.
In 2021 I became a member of the American Legion Post TH02 in Pattaya. We moved to Phala Ban Chang in 2019 because we had vacationed here and loved the area. Lots of expats here on the Eastern Seaboard of the Gulf of Thailand. I now serve as the second vice commander at TH02.
I love expat life in Thailand, and created the channel to share simple, but genuine videos about Thailand for my family back in the States. The channel has slowly grown and the audience has expanded to people from all over the globe. Making videos is an enjoyable hobby for me, and keeps me busy doing something I love.
