How to pick and eat crab like a Baltimore native | Where Locals Go
Certain foods are intuitive to eat, like popcorn or a burger. You just grab them and go. Other dishes take more effort and precision, like Maryland’s famous steamed blue crabs. At first glance, the delicacy can be intimidating to the uninitiated. There are the seemingly impenetrable shell and beady little eyes to avoid.
To clear up confusion about how to eat Maryland blue crabs, we went to Baltimore to talk to Damye Hahn, whose family has owned Faidley’s Seafood Market since 1886. Housed in the historical Lexington Market, Faidley’s is a Maryland seafood institution best known for its award-winning lump crab cakes. But visitors can get their crab in a lot of ways at Faidley’s. Beyond the lump crab cake, there’s crab soup, soft-shell crab sandwiches and steamed crabs, among other preparations.

Most of the best things to do in Annapolis involve exploring its history. Start by visiting the Hammond-Harwood House, Maryland State House, or William Paca House. They’re both marvels of architecture and important historical buildings. You’ll feel as if you’re walking through time and traveling back into the American Revolution as you traverse their grounds.
Annapolis also has a range of museums to enjoy, including the Banneker-Douglas and Maritime Museum. It’s also the only place in the world with a museum dedicated entirely to cryptology, the study of making and breaking codes.
Coastal towns live and die by their waterfront features. Watch or browse expensive boats at Ego Alley and the United States Sailboat Show or take a boat ride on the Chesapeake Bay.
Natural beauty abounds around the city. Visit Sandy Point State Park or Quiet Waters Park to get a taste of it.
There’s plenty to eat in Annapolis, and visiting its restaurants is one of the best things to do in the city. Get breakfast at Chick and Ruth’s Delly, taste some of the best seafood in the area at Canter’s Riverside Inn, or have an ice cream cone at the Annapolis Ice Cream Company.
The Historical District contains many of the best things to do in Annapolis if you’re coming for the history. Eastport is an equally engaging neighborhood with boat races, beautiful views, restaurants, and more.
Seeing all of these sites in one trip is difficult, but booking a trolley tour is the best way to experience as much as possible.

Where we visited (in no order):
Patterson Park
Had a few things backward. Druid Hill Park is the largest park in the city, however, it is nicknamed Best Backyard in Baltimore. Patterson Park was established in 1827 and named for William Patterson (1752–1835). The park consists of open fields of grass, large trees, paved walkways, historic battle sites, a lake, playgrounds, athletic fields, a swimming pool, an ice skating rink and other signature attractions and buildings
Fell's Point
Fell's Point is known for its hip pubs and taverns, many with live music, as well as seafood joints serving Chesapeake Bay crab and oysters. Small galleries, record stores, fashion boutiques and eclectic restaurants line the cobblestone streets along the harbor and main square. The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum explores African-American nautical history in a former industrial building.
Miss Shirley's
Miss Shirley's had two locations in Baltimore and at least one more in Annapolis. Established and created in 2005 by longtime restaurateur and Baltimore native, Eddie, as he was affectionately known, Miss Shirley’s Cafe was named in loving memory of a personal friend & inspirational team member, Miss Shirley, who passed away in 2001. Shirley, a food professional at The Beef Inn & The Catering People, was known for her sassy charm and sheer joy of preparing dishes for catered celebrations in the community.
Ministry of Brewing
Ministry of Brewing is based in the former St. Michael’s Church and is hoping to revitalizing a historic community gathering place in a different way.
National Aquarium
also known as National Aquarium in Baltimore and formerly known as Baltimore Aquarium. The National Aquarium is a non-profit public aquarium located on Pier 3 in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore, Maryland.
Pickles
Established March 17, 1988, Pickles Pub is a longtime Baltimore tradition. The #1 place for sports fans to watch their favorite teams for over 30 years.
Camden Yards
Ready for my random facts about this ballpark?
Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the home of the Orioles since April 6, 1992.
Babe Ruth never played for Baltimore, but he is from there. His father owned a building that was a saloon on the bottom level and the family's home on the second floor of the building known to be located somewhere out in what is now center field at Oriole Park. Pretty cool, huh?
Maybe that's why they've been losing for so long; the Babe doesn't want the O's beating his Yankees...
Fun Fact number 2. To this day, Ken Griffey Jr. is still the only player to ever homer off the Camden Yards warehouse!
M&T Bank Stadium
M&T Bank Stadium is immediately adjacent to Oriole Park at Camden Yards and home of the Baltimore Ravens.
Captain James Seafood Palace
Seafood comes a plenty in Baltimore, Md. I like Captain James because it's shaped like a merchant vessel. Crabcakes and Football. That's what Maryland does!

Y Worry Farm
1501 Rossback Road
Davidsonville, MD 21035
Contact : 410-451-2855
Y Worry Farm
is a family owned and operated farm located in Davidsonville, Maryland,
serving the community for over 33 years offering fun for the whole family!
At The Pumpkin Patch at Y Worry Farm we’re all about the pumpkins…and the people! In continuous operation since 1989 when we planted our first 1/2 acre of pumpkins and invited people in to pick their own pumpkins right out of the field, the Y Worry Farm Pumpkin Patch has become a yearly family tradition for many in the Davidsonville, Gambrills, Crofton and Annapolis area. We hope you’ll make it your tradition as well!
At the farm we now raise about 5 acres of pumpkins for you to choose from, in rotation with wheat, rye or hay (to keep our soil healthy). Come early in the season and roam the fields in search of your perfect pumpkin and you’ll see the pumpkins still on the vine~blossoms and “baby” pumpkins usually (barring drought) still growing right up until frost. It’s a great way for children to learn about how things grow. The Pumpkin Patch has become so popular in recent years that we now restock the fields, so even if you come later in the season you’ll still have plenty to choose from.
Come roam the fields, with your wagon in tow. Enjoy the antics of the chickens and goats, climb the straw pyramid, hide out in the cornstalk teepee or wander our small corn maze. Relax and explore with family and friends and get a taste of life on the farm!
We sell pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, gourds, winter squash, Indian corn, corn stalks and straw for your Fall decorating.

Annapolis, Maryland, USA - A Tour Around The Magnificent City 🇺🇸
#annapolismaryland #maryland #siteseeing #djimini2
I recently spent a day in Annapolis, Maryland and I was completely enchanted by this charming city. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the rich history and unique character of the place. I had the chance to visit some of the city's most iconic landmarks and I was blown away by what I saw.
One of my favorite places in Annapolis was the State House, which is the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use. I was amazed by the history and beauty of the building and I learned so much about the state's rich history. I also visited the historic district, which is filled with stunning 18th-century homes and buildings. I was transported back in time as I walked through the narrow streets, admiring the beautiful architecture and quaint charm.
Another highlight of my trip was visiting the Naval Academy, which is one of the most prestigious military academies in the country. I was impressed by the stunning architecture and the lush grounds, which are home to numerous historic buildings and monuments. The academy's museum is also a must-visit, with its fascinating exhibitions on the history of the U.S. Navy.
Overall, my day in Annapolis was well spent and filled with cherished memories. If you're looking for a city that is rich in history and filled with character, then I highly recommend a visit to Annapolis. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a charming place to spend the day, this city is a hidden gem that you won't want to miss.
Annapolis is on my list of favorite cities.
