The Guanacaste Province is located in the northwest region of Costa Rica. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the province of Alajuela to the east, and the Guanacaste Mountain Range to the north. The provincial capital is Liberia.
The Guanacaste Province was first settled by the Spanish in 1524. The province was originally known as Santa Cruz de Castilla. In 1824, the province was renamed Guanacaste. The province was divided into two districts: Nicoya and Santa Cruz.
The Guanacaste Province has a rich history. The province was home to several important battles during the Costa Rican Civil War (1948-1949). The most important battle took place in the town of Santa Cruz. The battle was fought between the National Liberation Army (Ejército de Liberación Nacional - ELN) and the Costa Rican government forces. The ELN was eventually defeated and the province returned to peace.
Today, Guanacaste Province is known for its beautiful province with plenty of natural attractions.

Hey Happy Travelers!
Welcome to the Norwegian Joy, our very first NCL cruise! We are on a 12 night Caribbean sailing visiting Limón Costa Rica, Colon Panama, Cartagena Colombia, Oranjestad Aruba, Williamstead Curaçao, and Great Stirrup Cay (Norwegian’s private island)! This will mark as our longest sailing, so we are very excited to enjoy this new itinerary, as well as have plenty of time to see what NCL is all about!
It is Day 6 onboard the Norwegian Joy and we are in Colon Panama! Today we are taking on the port on our own and visiting the Agua Clara locks! We had an awesome cab driver who took us to the old Gatun locks and gave us a great view of the canal via the Atlantic Bridge!

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.
We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Best 8 Places to Visit in Costa Rica (OFF THE BEATEN PATH)
About a decade ago, my wife and I moved to Costa Rica to learn a new language and experience life in another country. I even wrote a book about it!
But because we knew our time there would be limited, we made a point to travel as much as possible from the Caribbean to coast to the beaches of Guanacaste and everything in between.
You can find videos of most of these destinations on my channel, but they were filmed and uploaded long before the days of 4K and ubiquitous GoPros. Also, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing on YouTube back then.
