Here we have a current, as of June 2, 2023, review of available documentation on the bidding process happening in Cherryville NC on the Cherryville Historical Museum. These resources are pulled from the Cherryville Eagle as well as publicly available by Cherryville officials from the bidding process itself. The last $300,000 bid did not fall within the required 10 day notice.

Bessemer City (City with a Heart) is a small city in Gaston County, North Carolina and is approximately 25 miles west of Charlotte, North Carolina. This nice city that is 6 miles northwest of Gastonia has a population less than 5,600 residents. Bessemer City was founded in 1893.
Bessemer City is named for Sir Henry Bessemer who created the Bessemer process for smelting iron. The earliest settlement dates back to 1754 when King George II of Great Britain granted 2,000 acres of land to James Ormand who established the Ormand Mining Company to extract iron ore. This land is where downtown Bessemer City is today. The Old Furnace is still owned today by the Ormand Family. The site is used today as a gathering site for the Ormand Family Family reunions which is one of the oldest family reunions in America which has been held since 1897.
In the 1840's - corn and cotton were the region's two main crops. Whiskey production was very profitable during this time. Interesting fact is that Gaston County had more licensed whisky distilleries at that time than any other county in North Carolina. You need to read up more on the history of Bessemer City - it is very interesting.

Martha Rivers Park 4K - Gastonia, NC (DJI Mavic Pro Footage) Drone Aerial Shots
Martha Rivers Park is a 58 acre - popular park in Gastonia, NC. This popular park is named after the daughter of the original owner of the property that the park sits on today.
In 1995, the Gastonia City Council and the Gaston County School Boards approved to deed an existing 20 acre park and 34 acres adjoining acres to create the existing Martha Rivers Park. The 34 acres beside the existing 20 acre park - was originally purchased as a future school site. Later the City purchased additional 3 acres - making up the total 58 acres. The construction for the park took place in 2 phases through the years of 1997 to 2001. A Quarry was on part of the property prior - but was filled in including the quarry made ponds.
The park has so much to offer which makes it a popular park for Gastonia. Here are some of features of the park:

. Small Play Area within the Baseball Complex Area

Elkin NC is a small town in North Carolina in Surry and Wilkes Counties. It has a population of 4,001 according to the 2010 Census. Gastonia, North Carolina is the 13th largest City in North Carolina and the second largest satellite city of the Charlotte area.
Gastonia was named for William Gaston who was a member of the North Carolina Supreme Court from 1833 to 1844. Gastonia is also the county seat of Gaston County which was also named after William Gaston. Gastonia was known for the textile mills years ago. Gaston County had a great deal of textile mills from the 20's till the 90's when some of the mills were closing and changing locations. One event that was observed nationwide was the Loray Mill Strike in 1929. This strike is one of the most notable in the history of the United States. The Loray Mill building still stands today and are apartments - but still displays the architect of years ago. Its also the tallest building in Gastonia @ 140 feet.
Gastonia is filled with attractions or things to do. Rather it's riding to nearby Charlotte or maybe take a hike in beautiful Crowders Mountain State Park - there are always something to do. This makes Gastonia a great place to visit or live.

Cherryville BC Canada Hail Storm August 10-2011
We camped in the Shuswap River Valley, downstream from Sugar Lake, when distant thunder closed in on us, ending in a Hail Storm that lasted for over one hour. The following 3 minutes will show some of strength that thrashed the best vegetable garden some neighbours ever had. Temperatures the next day were in the mid 20ties C, but there were still patches of hail at the end of the day.

Dallas is a small town in Gaston County with a population less than 5,000. Dallas was named after the vice president , George M. Dallas , who served with James K. Polk ( 11th President of the United States).
Dallas was the county seat for Gaston County between 1846 to 1911 in which Gastonia became the county seat.
A flight back in the Summer of 2018. One of the first flights with the DJI Mavic Pro Drone.
