*Cómo llegar a Chetumal

MEXICO'S HIDDEN PARADISE | Bacalar, Mexico Travel Guide

🍿WATCH NEXT Best Cancun Tacos:
❤️ Travel Deeper Merch ($20 Tees):
🙏 PLEASE SUBSCRIBE:

Bacalar, Mexico - About a 4-Hour drive south from Cancun, there’s a paradise that’s relatively untouched by most foreign travelers.

If you're looking where to stay in Bacalar, in my opinion, the best resort in Bacalar is Mia Bacalar

The town of Bacalar in Quintana Roo, sits at the very southeastern tip of Mexico, and its position along the absolutely stunning Bacalar Lagoon makes this place worth the offbeat journey; come on let me show you why. Here are the best things to do in Bacalar, Mexico in one day!

Cenote Azul - Cenote Azul is one of the deepest cenotes in all of the Riviera Maya, at some 90 Meters or 290 feet deep and this beautiful dark blue pool presses right up against the ridiculously tropical turquoise waters of the lagoon, which we’ll jump into next.

Fort San Felipe - Spanish Conquistadors successfully took Bacalar in 1543, but that didn’t stop pirates from raiding and terrorizing this paradise all throughout the 1600’s. They could easily enter up through a canal in the lagoon, so this fort was incredibly important to protect the city from, well, yet another intruder.

Bacalar Lagoon Boat Tour - Now, I promise this isn’t just another boat trip scene, this insanely gorgeous, freshwater lagoon is known as Lake of Seven Colors, as the variety of blue and turquoise hues make this place so unique. A White sandy bottom, cloud coverage and water depth causes colors to morph into varying shades of gatorade like mother nature’s own tie-dye. And we find one incredible inlet sandbar to drop anchor and join the party. This is most definitely the best thing to do in Bacalar!

Best Places to Eat in Bacalar - Then, the only thing that can pull me away from this perfect scene, it’s time to head back on shore, for lunch at Kai Pez in downtown Bacalar, right next to Bacalar Lagoon.

Los Rapidos - Alright, there’s just one more place I want to show you for the day, if you promise to be cool about it. A turquoise-colored natural lazy river in the middle of nowhere! Now, If you come here based on this video, please make me proud and don’t touch the side walls of this river.

This is a very sensitive habitat, made beautiful by one lagoon runoff and those same estromatolitos (Stromatolite) we spoke about early. All of the white exterior are living microorganisms that will die if disrupted, just like coral. The trick is, get in and out and designated locations and just let yourself float down stream. It’s amazing.

We stayed at the beautiful Mia Bacalar, right on Bacalar Lagoon. I highly recommend this resort in Bacalar!

If you've read this full description please leave a comment so I can thank you directly. 😉

Traveling MEXICO, Cancun to Chetumal | Digital Nomad Life & Long Term Travel || AT HOME ON THE GO

We’re driving south from Cancun to Chetumal for a month at an Airbnb in Calderitas ...and we don’t even speak Spanish! That’s ok, a big goal for this stint of Mexico travel is Spanish immersion. We are embracing it, and we love it!

This is our international intro to digital nomad life. We are digital nomad newbies, currently working on making the transition and adjusting to all that comes along with working while traveling.

Besides, by spending a little time traveling Mexico we get to escape the worst of the PNW winter. I mean, RV life is good… but we are only human.

Up until now, our time in Mexico has been in vacation mode. But now it’s time to get down to work.

This channel is still in a stage of infancy (maybe approaching awkward adolescence) but we're learning and it's growing! We have successfully published a new video every Thursday for the last two months! 🎉🥳 We're sharing our #nomadiclife... Sometimes that's us diving into RV Living, currently it's our #MonthinMexico. More adventures to come. 😊 Thanks for stopping by... like, subscribe, and comment to help us feed the monster!

WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT…
We are going after the location independent travel lifestyle. It’s time to satisfy that travel itch! This is something of an early ‘retirement’, but not really, we are still working. We just want to be able to travel while we are doing it. We want mobility. We want to be able to see family and friends and serve others as we go. We’re going nomadic!

We are being intentional about life, designing the lifestyle we really want, and taking the steps to make it happen. Call us digital nomads, wanderlusters, nomadic spirits, call us whatever you want… just don’t call us bored.

On this channel we plan to share our documentation of the journey, we’ll share the ups and downs, tips and tricks, and hopefully enough inspiration to motivate some of you guys to make your dreams happen, too. Are you living the life you want? What’s stopping you?

DONT GO TO CHETUMAL, MEXICO

In this video I will show you scenic drone clips of Chetumal in Mexico and the surrounding areas of the town. It is located in the very south part of Mexico and the state of Quintana Roo, close to the border of the country of Belize and the neighboring countries Guatemala and El Salvador. The town is located in a harbour where the water is enclosed which explains why the water is really brown. I took the big to Lagauna Milagros

I had been traveling around Mexico for the past months starting in Cancun and going to many other places such as Isla Mujeres, Merida, Tulum, Puerto Morelos and also living in Playa Del Carmen for the past months. But now It was time to take the ADO bus to the south part of the Yucatan Peninsula and to the town of Chetumal.

The city is situated on the western side of Chetumal Bay, near the mouth of the Río Hondo. Chetumal is an important port for the region and operates as Mexico's main trading gateway with the neighboring country of Belize. Goods are transported via a road connecting Chetumal with Belize City to the south, and also via coastal merchant ships. There is a commercial airport, Chetumal International Airport, with airline service. Because of its location on the Caribbean coastline, it is vulnerable to tropical cyclones; Hurricane Janet and Hurricane Dean, both Category 5 storms, made landfall near Chetumal in 1955 and 2007 respectively.

Chetumal is a growing city with an international airport. The city has a Museum of Maya Culture as well as a zoo, the Payo Obispo Zoo, which belongs to the children of Quintana Roo.

Chetumal's economy has been influenced by its proximity to the border with Belize. A goods and services tax-free zone (Corozal Free Zone) established on the Belizean side attracts many visitors to Chetumal and also provides a ready market for Chetumal's retailers and traders. However a certain vacuum was created by the lower free zone prices forcing many Chetumal retailers to close their doors. Merchandise bought elsewhere was hard to sell at higher prices than the competition. Chetumal itself was also once a free zone and a notable destination for people from other parts of Mexico seeking to purchase high-value and bulk goods, free of government duty charges (a policy that was deliberately implemented to attract this business). The city retains a significant retail trade for the region, which supports many local businesses.

A large indoor mall, the Plaza de las Américas, houses a modern movie theater (which belongs to the Mexican chain Cinepolis), various department store chains, fast-food outlets, and a Chedraui supermarket.

In addition to its retail economy, Chetumal is also the capital of the state of Quintana Roo. Since it is the location of all of the state's central offices, there is a large population of government employees whose consumption of local goods and services injects additional revenue into the Chetumal economy. As Capital of the state, Chetumal receives a good share of the foreign currencies brought in by the considerable floating population composed of European, Asian and North American tourists.

The city has a music school which offers lessons of various instruments as well as music theory and history. The school is the main music school of the state and is the home of the Junior symphonic orchestra of the state Quintana Roo (Orquesta sinfonica juvenil del estado de Quintana Roo) which is directed by Silvia Alcantara Chavero.

The city houses two theaters. The Teatro Minerva, which is an open-air theater and belongs to the state's music school, and the Teatro Constituyentes, which is a private-owned theater.

There is a Country club, which features tennis, football and basketball courts, a gym, a swimming pool, a steam-bath and a lounge for parties. In the early 1990s, the University of Quintana Roo was established at Chetumal, providing training and advanced tertiary degrees over a range of subjects.

Chetumal has several museums, monuments and parks.
