12 Serious Mistakes People Make When Visiting Blackpool
Visiting Blackpool is unique in its own way. It’s just like visiting any other town or city; tourists usually trip during their trip to a place they have not quite studied well. Even after making all the possible findings about their destinations, many tourists may still encounter unwelcome surprises, making a mockery of all their plans and research. These are a result of slight mistakes that could taint their holiday. In this video, however, we’re not talking about slight mistakes. We’re focusing on significant mistakes that can be very consequential. Regardless of the gravity of those mistakes, however, a little more vigilance can make a lot of difference. We will now discuss 12 serious mistakes people make when visiting Blackpool.
12. Visiting during off-season
It’s always a very serious mistake to visit this time during the off-season when some of its areas appear as if on lockdown. July and August can be good months to visit if you want to enjoy some fun on the beach and paddle in the sea. This is when the temperatures are their highest. You can sunbathe and stay out till evening. June also can be a great month to visit if you don’t mind the slightly cooler weather. But make sure you go only on weekends as weekdays can be boring during this month. September too isn’t bad. Visiting the town outside these months is, oh dear!
11. Expecting too much of transport services
Tourists from London and other sophisticated cities usually believe that trams, trains, buses, and taxis in Blackpool function similarly to other tourist areas. They're in for a big shock when they find, for example, that there is no Uber in Blackpool. Another rude example is that tramps in the town don't accept contactless payments. When tourists don’t come with enough cash, they might find themselves unable to move as much as they wish. However, most of the town's tourist centers are within trekking distance of each other. If you don't have enough cash, you could do with a bit more trekking.
10. Not understanding money matters
While credit cards, debit cards, and other contactless payments are allowed in many places, you’re advised to bring along extra cash while visiting Blackpool. Paying for little things, such as ice cream on the Promenade and some games on the pier may not be as easy as using these methods. More so, contactless payment has limits here. Even some tourists who use ATMs during their stay are pleasantly surprised that the only good way is to be charged in GBP. If you choose to be charged in your local currency, you will pay more because it's the ATM provider that will set the exchange rate, which will be higher.
9. Not planning for pickpockets
Tourist destinations usually attract unscrupulous elements. We have no reason to expect Blackpool to be an exception. This town’s crime rate is a bit higher. Pickpockets are always at their best in Blackpool during the season. It’s illusory to depend on the large police presence for protection. These security agents can’t be everywhere at once. They’re not able to monitor every square inch and every single person in a big crowd. Your wallets might be snatched. You have to keep your belonging safe. Don’t put your wallet in your back pocket. Dress in such a way that will enable you fasten your belonging tightly close to your body.
8. Not bringing a waterproof jacket
Many tourists often make the mistake of thinking that they’ll not need a waterproof jacket since they’re visiting the town in summer, which can be hot. They often forget that Blackpool is in Lancashire and what we know about this place is that Lancashire Coast is the wettest in England. It regularly gets a thorough soaking and wetness from rain blown in off the Irish Sea. Though most days will be sunny, bright, and clear, having a lightweight waterproof coat is a precaution that’ll do you much good in case the weather behaves unexpectedly. If you don’t have such a jacket, you may plan for only indoor entertainment.

Top 10 Luxury Hotels In New England
Hello and welcome to Traveler Cities.
New England, which is made up of the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, has vacation spots for every season. You can choose between exciting cities like Boston, charming beach towns dotted along a beautiful coastline, or mountain villages where you can hike, look at leaves, or ski. Today we’ll talk about the “top 10 luxury hotels in New England.”
Forgotten Spas of Yorkshire
We've all heard of Harrogate, Ilkley and Scarborough - but what about Slaithwaite, Askern or Wetherby? They've all had them, but only shone brightly for a very short time - mostly 1820-1890 and then disappeared.
Others like Ripon came on far too late 1904/1905 and places like Boston Spa were left behind by the age of steam - although that mode of transport didn't help Goathland (North York Moors) that didn't even have a spa spring - although has the 70ft high Mallyan Spour waterfall!

5 Things American Tourists Shouldn't Wear in Europe

Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

BOSTON SPA: Leeds Parish #20 of 38
Today we have one of the largest villages in Yorkshire. Surprisingly it doesn’t have town status, which is really strange given how much it has. With a population of well over 4,000 people, you might think that this ranks as one of Leeds’ largest parishes. In fact it only comes in at the 12th largest within the city!
After a little trek through the housing estates we come to a former turnpike road, and it’s where most of the village amenities and other interesting things are. The A659 turnpike was built to connect Tadcaster to Otley in 1753. A vitally important route, Joseph Taite built a house to accommodate visitors along the turnpike that became the Royal Hotel, which is still standing
Our route passes the site of the Spa Baths – the very landmark which gives this place part of its name. The Bath house contained two baths, one hot and one cold. There was also a tea room. The building was eventually sold at auction in 1911 as it’s popularity as a spa town declined. Spa towns were certainly popular though. The waters were deemed by the experts of the day to have therapeutic qualities. Coupled with the turnpike, you can see why it grew so fast!
Off Clifford Road we have Hall Mews, which is effectively a collection of small businesses. However the name Hall Mews is not without a bit of history. That’s in the vicinity of Boston Hall. In 1939 Boston Hall’s occupants were Charles H. Roe – he of coachbuilding fame – and his wife Kathleen. Its current tenant is none other than Geoffrey Boycott.
Stables Lane adds some playing fields into the mix, and there’s the lovely Thorp Arch Bridge, the River Wharfe with its weir and a whole host of shops and restaurants, in the gorgeous BOSTON SPA.

Top 13 Things To Do In Boston Massachusetts - Travel Guide
In this travel guide video, we will show you the best 13 things To Do In Boston.
What to do in Boston? The vibrant city on the coast is full of varied activities among each one can find what they are looking for. Starting with historical visits, since Boston is one of the oldest cities in North America and a true cradle of the United States. But the city of the Celtics has also known how to cross the ages to become the dynamic metropolis it is today.
It lives to the rhythm of its cosmopolitan population, among which students are strongly represented. But also to the rhythm of the baseball or basketball game schedule, since the local teams are excellent in both sports. Open to the sea, Boston is also a city on a human scale where it is good to live, stroll, and practice all kinds of activities. In this boston travel guide you will find a rundown of must-see tours and other free things to do in Boston.
1. Take a boat trip
Proud ambassador of the east coast, the capital of Massachusetts embraces the bay of the same name. The sea is therefore very present in the city which has several ports and marinas. There, all kinds of boat trips are offered to visitors, which is one of the most must-do activities.
For example, it is possible to take a cruise off Boston at sunset. Or give yourself a little thrill by taking a fast speedboat. You can also enjoy historical tours or try your hand at navigation. Finally, catamaran outings are organized to observe the whales that inhabit the bay!
2-Walk the Freedom Trail
You will have understood: Boston has a lot of tourist attractions to visit and rich history of which we can still see many testimonies today. Founded in 1630 by English Puritans, it was an epicenter of the American Revolutionary War in the 18th century.
The best way to relive this turbulent past is to take the Freedom Trail. 4 kilometers long, this path marked with a red line will take you to discover the symbolic places of the city. You should also know that many guided tours are offered around the Freedom Trail.
3- Lunch at Quincy Market
Perhaps you will have seen it while walking the Freedom Trail: Quincy Market is one of the most emblematic places to visit in Boston. Inaugurated in 1826, this large covered market was in a way the granary of the city, and sold all kinds of foodstuffs to the inhabitants.
Today, behind its proud colonnaded facade, hides a multitude of stalls and delis. We sit down there for a quick lunch alongside locals and visitors in one of the epicenters of Boston social life.
4- Get some fresh air at Boston Common
Are you more of a nature lover than a culture lover? No worries: you'll also have plenty things to do in Boston and a lot of tourist attractions. The city is indeed home to beautiful green spaces, including the Boston Common, which is the oldest park in the United States, common park is one of the best places to visit in boston.
Founded in 1634, it is still today a green lung for the city, where the inhabitants come to breathe fresh air and have fun. In winter, you can try your hand at ice skating before visiting the nearby antique shops. In summer, we stop there for a picnic under the watchful eye of the famous American chipmunks (big squirrels).
5- Explore the USS Constitution
Here is another unmissable and unusual thing to do in Boston for history lovers. But it will also delight the curious, the adventurers, or even the children.
The USS Constitution is a United States Navy frigate that was launched in 1797. It is today the oldest military ship still afloat in the world. Open to visitors, the frigate comes with a museum and is the end point of the Freedom Trail.
6- Shopping on Newbury Street
As a change from cultural and heritage visits, we suggest you combine business with pleasure by shopping on Newbury Street. You will find many brands, sometimes affordable, sometimes upscale. But with its brick houses with bow windows, the street above all offers a charming setting in which to stroll. What a nice coffee break between two shops!
7- Prudential Center
To enjoy the most spectacular panorama of the city, it is towards the Prudential Center that you will have to go. Indeed, this 52-storey and 229-meter high tower houses a shopping center but also and above all an observatory, the Skywalk Observatory. From there, you will enjoy a breathtaking 360° view of Boston. Audio guides will help you spot the city's most iconic sights.
8- Visit the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum:
The Boston Tea Party was a political revolt in Boston, the capital of the province of Massachusetts Bay, against the British Parliament in 1773.

Flamborough Head is a promontory, 8 miles (13 km) long on the Yorkshire coast of England, between the Filey and Bridlington bays of the North Sea. It is a chalk headland, with sheer white cliffs. The cliff top has two standing lighthouse towers, the oldest dating from 1669 and Flamborough Head Lighthouse built in 1806. The older lighthouse was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1952 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England. The cliffs provide nesting sites for many thousands of seabirds, and are of international significance for their geology.Flamborough Head has one of the most important seabird colonies in Europe.
Flamborough Cliffs Nature Reserve, as part of Flamborough Head, is designated as a Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area (SPA), and is also a part of the Flamborough Head Heritage Coast. Flamborough Head is the most northerly location at which you can find coastal chalk cliffs in the UK.
Algal and lichen communities found within the sea caves in the cliffs are one of the less known reasons for the sites international importance. 20% of Flamborough Head’s breeding sea bird population can be found on the relatively short stretch of coastline of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve.
The best place to see puffins on the UK's mainland coast is at YWT's North Landing reserve. Huge colonies of guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes are also visible from clifftop vantage points. Superb rockpools and sea caves are revealed at low tide at North landing and Thornwick Bay plus regular boat trips (pre-booking essential) to view seabirds close up and learn about the chalk cliffs, sea caves and underwater reefs. The cliffs above the beaches host a huge variety of chalkland plants and butterflies. In winter, barn owls, stoats and weasels can often be seen hunting in daylight, and gannets and fumars start to return to the Headland in January, so there's plenty to see.
Flamborough Cliffs is a spectacular reserve to visit at any time of year; the weather, sea and wildlife give you a different experience every trip. Whether you go there on a bright sunny day when the clear blue sea looks almost tropical and the sight, sounds and smell of thousands of nesting seabirds assaults your senses; or in winter with a raging sea echoing around the sea caves and a gale so strong you hardly dare walk close to the cliff top. These experiences are unrepeatable; you will not forget Flamborough Cliffs reserve easily.
