The Legend Of The Issyk Kul Lake's Lost Treasures
There are many legends surrounding this extraordinary lake in Kyrgyzstan – the sunken city of “Lyesh”, the “tears of the snow leopard” that lend the water its salinity, and finally about the name of the lake itself: Issyk Kul. The name means “hot lake”, because despite being at an altitude of over 1,600 meters it never freezes, not even in the coldest of winters; a remarkable natural phenomenon.
In this episode of Lakes on the Roof of the World we climb on treacherous paths to the mountain villages of the Terskey-Alatau range and discover the traditional way of life of the Kyrgyz shepherds, but above all, we learn about the life of the people living with and by Lake Issyk Kul.

9/20 Kajaktour auf Bodensee u. Rhein. Von Lindau bis Maiz. (Von Eglisau - Waldshut.)
9. Tag der Kajak Paddel Tour mit dem Gumotex Seawave Schlauch Kajak von Bodensee Lindau aus bis Mainz am Rhein. Diesmal war der Start der Expedition vom Wild Campingplatz kurz hinter Eglisau in der Schweiz. Das Ziel der Reise an diesen Tag war Waldshut in Deutschland / Baden Württemberg. Wo ich die Fahrt für den heutigen Tag auf einen Campingplatz ausklingen ließ.
Leider gab es an Wehr von der Staustufe Eglisau / Glattfelden keine automatische Umgehung, Dadurch muss das Wehr klassisch mit einen Bootswagen umgangen werden. Im weiteren Verlauf wurde die Stadt Kaiserstuhl die in der Schweiz liegt durchfahren. Auch das darauffolgenden Kraftwerk Reckingen musste das Luft Kajak mit Hilfe des Eckla Beach-Trolly vom Oberwasser in das Unterwasser umgesetzt werden. Kurz hinter der Wehr hat es das schnellste Abschnitt der Reise im Oberrhein wo er kurz richtig Wildwasser hat. Nach dem schnellen Stück fließen die Aare in den Oberrhein die einer der größeren Zuflüsse in den Strohm ist. In Waldshut auf deutscher Seite habe ich dann die Fahrt auf den Campingplatz den Tag ausklingen lassen.

Cocos Island Video Trip Report | October 2020
Cocos Island is on FIRE! We’re just back from another SPECTACULAR trip. Not only did we see enormous schools of hammerheads on almost every single dive, but the island was absolutely exploding with life -- fish, turtles, white tip & Galapagos sharks, tiger sharks, and a (the icing on the cake) whale shark! Our chief dive officer Federico Pochet, with 9 years of experience diving Cocos had this to say about the trip:
“The dives were just amazing! Even our check out dive was spectacular -- we saw an enormous tiger shark within two minutes of entering the water and it made many close passes. We saw tons of hammerheads, marble rays mating and a female being followed by at least 10 males. Dirty Rock was marvelous. We had giant schools of hammerheads passing overhead. On one of my faovrite dives at Punta Maria we had hammerheads streaming into the cleaning station, and a turtle that stuck around for a while. There were Galapagos sharks, eagle rays at the pinnacle plus an enormous manta. At Alcyone we saw 20 Galapagos sharks together in a school, and then they arrived and passed us in groups of 3 to 6 sharks...then out in the blue at the safety stop, the schools of hammerheads came in so close!
