Hi everybody and welcome to Niš Serbia. In this Serbia travel video I'm going to take you through this beautiful city in Europe which still not on major tourist maps. Niš (Ниш in cyrillic) is a pretty town in Southeastern Europe and is located in the South of Serbia, or Србија as the Serbs call it, and is a very historical place in Europe. It's one of the best places in Serbia for authentic local Serbian food and one of the most beautiful places in Serbia, surrounded by green hills which provide some amazing views across the city. What I like best in Serbia is that there is so much to discover wherever you go in this beautiful country in Europe. This trip was my first time in Serbia and I learned so much about the rich and often difficult and complex history of Serbia. Niš is a great city to visit if you want to get history in Southeastern Europe, although some of the sites are shocking, and very thought-provoking as you will see in this video. I hope this Serbia video on Niš will give you some inspiration if you plan your next travel to beautiful Serbia. As I have mentioned in my previous videos on Serbia, Serbia is one of the more affordable countries in Europe. So if you're interested in cities to see in Europe that are affordable places to visit Niš is a perfect place to visit in Europe. I will take you on a tour through my top 10 of the best things to do in the city, with a visit to the old fortress, a tower made of real human skulls, a Nazi concentration camp that feels like it was abandoned just yesterday and an impressive great Second World War memorial. And of course we will talk about Serbian food.

🇷🇸 ČAČAK, SERBIA - This is Part 2 of my 2022 Serbia Travel series! This is my 5th visit to Serbia (I was first here in 2019). Two of my trips were heavily impacted by the pandemic, but in 2021 I managed to explore quite extensively, visiting outstanding locations such as Kruševac, Subotica, Kragujevac, Bajina Bašta and more!
This time, I’m once again based in one of my favourites - Užice. Today we’re visiting the city of Čačak, an unexpectedly awesome city no one seems to visit! It’s not far from the last video’s location, Ovčar Banja and the Ovčarsko Kablarska Klisura (Ovčar Kablar Gorge), with its amazing scenery and Serbian Orthadox monasteries!
Čačak doesn’t appear to be one of the common places to visit in Serbia, or a place with much in terms of Serbia Tourism, but we’re about to change that! There are beautiful churches, awesome architecture, and great Serbian food, just as in any other city!

Sabac is a very chill city and the vibes were absolutely perfect. Located right on the Sava River, this city makes for an awesome time to visit during both the summer and winter months. You must visit Sabac when in Serbia, as the city as a whole has a different feel to it than any other that I've visited so far.

На месту једног од највећих шабачких насеља Бенска бара, у не тако давној прошлости града, налазило се огромно водено пространство. Бара се простирала на скоро 13 хектара, од градског парка све до Јеврејског гробља. Ова водена површина имала је богат природни и животињски свет. Према проценама из 1961. године, за њено пуњење било је потребно 280.000 кубних метара земље.
Насеље Бенска бара осмишљено је Генералним урбанистичким планом из 1964. године, а који су урадили београдске архитекте Угљеша Богуновић и Слободан Јањић – рођени Шапчанин, значајан и јер је пројектовао Хотел „Слобода“ и Нову робну кућу. Ова велика архитектонска имена пројектовала су и торањ на Авали, зграду Политике, Скадарлију.
План је урађен у стилу модерне чији су основни принципи комплетно негирање традиције, прошлости и историје.
In the place of one of the largest settlements in Sabac, Benska bara, in the not so distant past of the city, there was a huge water area. The pond stretched over almost 13 hectares, from the city park all the way to the Jewish cemetery. This water surface had a rich natural and animal world.
According to estimates from 1961, 280,000 cubic meters of earth were needed to fill it.
The settlement of Benska bara was designed by the General Urban Plan from 1964, which was made by Belgrade architect Uglješa Bogunović and Šabac architect Slobodan Janjić, important also because he designed the Hotel Sloboda and the Nova robna kuća. These great architectural names also designed the tower on Avala, the building of Politika, Skadarlija street.
The plan is made in the style of modernity, whose basic principles are a complete denial of tradition, past and history.

The journey to Tara National Park | What the countryside in Serbia is like
This is the first time I was able to get deep into the heart of Serbia to discover what the interior of the Country is like. To explore the rugged mountain ranges and take in the scenic vantages while being on the ground. It was truly a wonderful experience. It was so close to resembling the Pacific Northwest in the USA, I almost felt I was there. I had heard from many travelers how beautiful Tara National Park was, but until you see this place first hand, it is hard to imagine. I had been on a hike with another foreigner to explore the area. It was about a 3-4 hour bus ride from Belgrade to Užice by taking two buses. The entire trip was about 4.5 -5 hours and cost about $10-$12 USD. Then I rode a taxi to the top of the mountain to see the vantage of amazing Tara National Park in all of its glory. Check it out!

In this video, I share my travel experience in Serbia which is my country #65 in my quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries around the world. Serbia is a deceiving country at first glance. When I first entered Serbia, it appeared beat up and miserable looking. And so, I only planned on staying in Serbia for one night, then leaving to go to my next travel destination. What I love about travel is pleasant surprises and Serbia is beyond pleasant surprises, it's an awesome surprise. The locals in Serbia is the FRIENDLIEST people I have ever met during my travels in Europe. The amount of kindness and friendliness I experienced in Serbia from locals living there is eye opening. Despite only travelling in Serbia for one day, this is a country that I am guaranteed to visit again in the future.
