My Top Ten Things To Do on St Helena IslandDuring my seven months on St Helena I have had the opportunity to explore this wonderful remote island in the South Atlantic. Only 4500 people and 1000s of miles from Brazil or Angola/Namibia. It is truly remote. The Saint people are some of the most warm and welcoming people I have ever had the pleasure or living and working with.

What To Do in St Helena
This trip to the St. Helena took place from 15 - 18 February 2020, before the major current travel restrictions. I do not encourage anyone to travel now. #StayHome. Here's a video with my thoughts on the current situation:St. Helena may just be one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited. The Saints are some of the kindest people I’ve ever come across in my travels. Because I had such a great time, I thought I’d try something different for this video about St. Helena.
I normally make videos here on YouTube about airlines, but perhaps the most amazing part of aviation are the places it can take. Places like St Helena. So, in this video about St Helena, I’m trying a little experiment: Let’s check out some things on the ground in St Helena! We’ll explore some of the highlights of St. Helena and some of what I enjoyed while I was here. Let me know what you think about this experiment by leaving comments. I always appreciate feedback! And next week, I’ll post a more typical video about my return to the mainland.
St. Helena is home to epic history, out-of-this-world scenery, and incredible opportunities for intreprid travelers.
We’ll explore the infamous Jacobs Ladder, Napoleon’s two residences on St. Helena, some of the hiking available on the island, as well as some of the most amazing vistas.
This is my first attempt at a video about something unrelated to aviation, so I’d appreciate your feedback. I think it’s probably fair to say I need to expand my coverage of things like accomodations and food if I continue with this. Also, maybe I’ll do this on a separate channel. Anyway, let me know what you think of this first attempt. And, also, let me know if you’re heading to St. Helena once we can all travel again!

St. Helena island, part of the British Overseas Territory also encompassing Ascension and Tristan da Cunha islands, is a remote volcanic outpost in the South Atlantic Ocean. It's famous as the place of Napoleon Bonaparte's exile and death, as commemorated by a nowempty tomb. Climbing destinations include the 699 steps of Jacob's Ladder and Diana's Peak, sheltering endemic plant and animal life.
St Helena is the United Kingdom's second-oldest overseas territory after Bermuda. Saint Helena is known for being the site of Napoleon's second exile, following his final defeat in 1815.
Helena: Why You Should Visit One Of the World's Most Remote Islands. Where Napoleon was exiled, this remote subtropical British Overseas Territory boasts lush landscapes, epic diving, and dark history.
St. Helena is part of the British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha; Ascension Island is approximately 700 miles (1,100 km) to the northwest, and the island group of Tristan da Cunha is some 1,300 miles (2,100 km) to the south.
The average price of a 7-day trip to St Helena is $2,597 for a solo traveler, $4,664 for a couple, and $8,744 for a family of 4. St Helena hotels range from $139 to $600 per night with an average of $284, while most vacation rentals will cost $200 to $1000 per night for the entire home.
Beaches are in short supply on St Helena; mostly the land meets the sea in a vertical cliff. Jamestown has an area known as The Seaside, but there is no sand, only rocks, and most of the area is taken up by The Wharf.
It is a subtropical paradise where the mountainous terrain and micro-climates create an astounding diversity of landscapes all within a few minutes drive. It is an off-the-beaten-track, bucket-list destination that your friends will envy. On St Helena, there is so much to explore.

Almost every sailor crossing the South Atlantic stops in at Saint Helena along the way. It's located about halfway between Cape Town and Brazil and the combination of incredible beauty and history make it a can't miss spot.
