The Avenue Gaudí (in Catalan and officially: avinguda de Gaudí ) is an urban road in Barcelona , Spain , which runs diagonally, breaking the grid of the district of the Eixample , to join two of the main monuments modernists of Barcelona: the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family (=La Sagrada Familia) and the Hospital of the Holy Cross and Saint Paul . Although it was originally thought to baptize it as Diagonal de San Pablo , when the road was opened in 1927 it did so with the name of Avenida del General Primo de Rivera , in honor of the then head of the Spanish government. In 1931 , with the arrival of the Second Republic , it was renamed Gaudí Avenue, thus dedicating itself to the Catalan architect whose magnum opus, the Sagrada Familia, is located at one end of the promenade. In 1939 , after the Civil War , the Franco dictatorshiprecovered the name Primo de Rivera; However, the name of Gaudí had already caught on popularly, so finally in 1962 he adopted this name officially. BARCELONA WALK | Sagrada Família - Gaudí's World-Famous Gothic Church | Spain
A first-person perspective Barcelona walk tour of the surrounding area of the Sagrada Família gothic church.
See all the sights as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Barcelona, featuring Sagrada Família, the unfinished gothic church designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. The route begins in the Plaça de la Sagrada Família Park, then to the Passion façade to the West of Sagrada Família, next moving around the south of the church to the Nativity façade to the East, finally to the Plaça de Gaudí Park where the tour concludes.
Sights seen along the tour include the Sagrada Família, Plaça de la Sagrada Família Park, souvenir store, refreshment kiosks, and Plaça de Gaudí Park with its trees and large pond.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!

Walking around SAGRADA FAMILIA, The oldest Unfinished Project 4K
The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

Let's take a walk around the Sagrada Familia, Parque Gaudí & Plaza de la Sagrada Familia Barcelona
Antoni Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia is one of the world’s most popular tourist attractions. In this post, we answer some common questions and share some tips that will help you make the most of your visit. Including how to avoid the queues.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the streets surrounding the Sagrada Familia.
If you just want a drink or snack I recommend that you head to Avinguda de Gaudí where there are bars and cafés with terraces outside and views of the basilica.
You can take a walk in the Gaudi Park and the Sagrada Familia Park.
Do not forget this when you come to the Sagrada Familia.
According to the basilica’s official website, you should adhere to the standard dress code for Roman Catholic churches which is the same for both men and women:
Hats and caps should be removed before entering the basilica (unless required for religious or medical reasons). You should wear an appropriate shirt, blouse, T-shirt, or jacket covering your shoulders, back, and midriff. Trousers and skirts should cover to below mid-thigh. Transparent clothing or plunging necklines are not allowed, and you may not go barefoot.
Now relax and enjoy the walk.

Barcelona, Sagrada Familia Festival, Catalunya - Spain 4K Travel Channel
To our surprise, some of the streets around the Sagrada Familia (Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família) are closed when we arrived. Runners and aerobics groups claimed the place, so we decide to come back in the afternoon. We’re lucky, because the Sagrada Familia Festival takes place in the Avenida di Gaudi. The Sagrada Familia, originally designed by Antoni Gaudi in 1883, shall be completed on the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death in 2026. The construction is financed exclusively by donations. The Nativity façade with its playful elements shows the unmistakable signature of Gaudi’s and together with the apse facade and the crypt, it was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2005. The opposing Passion façade was set up as from 1986 by Josep Maria Subirachs. However, the clear lines and geometric figures differ very much from Gaudi’s works. We have visited the Sagrada Familia approx 35 years ago and had the impression that a part of the filigree playfulness has been lost. Presumably this impression is created by the mighty scaffoldings which mainly rise on the roof of the cathedral. Only 8 of the 18 planned towers have been realized so far. After the completion of the interior in 2010, Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated the church and elevated the status of the church to a Basilica minor. The Sagrada Familia Festival takes place in irregular intervals every few years. In addition to sporting events, there are also a series of musical performances, which unfortunately had already ended when we arrived. Along the Avenida de Gaudi we find many stalls from local vendors and restaurants, where one could spend a lot of time. So we enjoy the atmosphere and our dinner. It starts to rain, but we were able to take a scene of the illuminated Basilica. Then we hurry to reach our hotel. .......... please read more:
