10 Unusual Tourist Attractions Sights | Biking Washington, DC

Bicycling Day Tour in Washington DC
that show you the 10 top tourist attractions sights to see on a bicycle in Washington DC.
This tour could be for tourists visiting Washington DC.
Have you ever wondered who is the driving force behind our economy and who does the heavy lifting during the war? The Ocean shipping industry! So hop on board and let's go celebrate all those seafarers on May 22 National Maritime Day! Here in DC, we will cycle around to honor the maritime industry.
1.Navy-Merchant Marine Memorial dedicated to Americans lost at Sea -President Woodrow Wilson declare war on Germany and enter the U.S. into World War 1.
2. The Seabees Memorial Who are the Seabees? The Naval Construction Battalion- They were the builders in war zones. They were electricians, carpenters, and plumbers, they built roads, bridges, airfields, and military bases. The Seabees had a reputation for exceptional creativity. If materials weren’t available, they would be jerry-rigged.
3. The John Ericsson Memorial: Have you ever wondered who created the screw propeller? What’s a screw propeller? That would be John Ericsson an inventor of the steam fire engine and the screw propeller. His inventions led to the creation of warships and a new era of naval warfare.
4. Merchant Marine Seal at the WWII Memorial. The often overlooked, merchant mariners were crucial to victory in World War II. Thousands of ships carried equipment, supplies, and troops overseas, and 1,554 of our merchant ships were sunk by the enemy and 733 were damaged by torpedoes, bombs, kamikaze attacks, and water mines. Up to 12,000 merchant mariners were killed during the War, making it the highest casualty rate among all the services.
5.John Paul Jones was one of the greatest naval commanders of the Revolutionary War.
6. US Navy Memorial-The Lone Sailor -The American Sailor tells the story of the birth of the United States Navy.
7.The Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (M.E.B.A.) is the nation's oldest and finest maritime labor union, established in 1875. They represent all aspects of the maritime workforce. They are a champion of seafarer rights. They were formed in 1875 when boiler explosions aboard steamboats and pathetic working conditions along with measly paychecks spurred these trailblazers to unite for the protection of mariners.
8.The Peace Monument, also known as the Civil War Sailors Monument
9.Titanic Memorial
10.Washington Naval yard- National Museum of the United States Navy This use to be an old shipyard.
If you want to learn more about Navy history this is the place to come to.

Thank you for going on this bicycle tour through Washington DC with us.
We salute you Navy sailors and merchant mariners - both past and present - and thank you for your service! Our Navy and civilian sailors continue to protect our homeland, support our troops and enrich our country's maritime heritage – in peace and war.

Places to see in ( Arlington - USA )

Places to see in ( Arlington - USA )

Arlington is an urban county in Virginia, directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. With a population of 210,000, yet a land area of only about 26 square miles, Arlington is one of America's mostly densely populated jurisdictions. Despite its density, Arlington mixes the best of both big city and suburban environments. No incorporated towns or cities lie within Arlington County borders; all local government is at the county level. Arlington has grown with the DC area, even during nation-wide economic downturns. This is mostly due to the large number of employees of the federal government and its contractors.

Arlington is part of the original ten miles square which the US Constitution dedicated as Washington DC, the nation's capital. In 1846, as a result of issues relating to congressional representation, worries by Arlington residents that D.C would ban slavery, and an economic downturn as a result of the fact that Federal government offices were located on the northern side of the Potomac River, the U.S. Congress returned Arlington and Alexandra to Virginia. Most travelers to Arlington will visit both Washington, D.C. and Arlington, and the two cities are seamlessly linked together by the Metrorail system.

If you plan to stick to the urban areas, park your car and only travel by foot and public transport. Arlington has an excellent public transportation system, which includes 4 Metrorail lines, a public bikeshare program, as well 2 bus systems. Driving an automobile can bring more troubles than it is worth, as many of Arlington's attractions suffer from a dearth of parking spaces, and the area is notorious for expensive parking tickets.

Arlington County is located in northeast Virginia and is surrounded by Fairfax County and the Falls Church to the southwest, the City of Alexandria to the southeast, and Washington, D.C. to the northeast directly across the Potomac River, which forms the county's northern border. Other landforms also form county borders, particularly Minor's Hill and Upton's Hill on the west. Some of these urban village communities include:
